TGIF

Thank you all for the kind words you all leave. It truly makes my day.

I was sharing my Goldfish crackers with my boss yesterday during our one-on-one meeting. Well, truth be told, I hadn't plan on staying to have a meeting or one on one talk for 2 hrs (yep). I had planned on raiding the supply closet. Which I did and he gave me some boardgames to take and use. ANYWAYS, he asked me about the Goldfish crackers, and I replied back, "Well, it's either stress eating or drinking." LOLOL---he said I was a riot. LOLOL---yeah, 50% of my students work hard and the other 50% not so much...I need to stop taking it personally. Hang on, looks like my time schedule and classroom location/time will change again. Give him a week (my guess 2).

Truth be told, probably every single day. LOL--hey, just keeping it real.

Probably, LOL. Have a great day all.

Thursday Thought(s)...

 Wait, it's Thursday? (bewildered)

Hmm...not sure how I would explain that one since it's a 7 1/2 hr. to south Florida. LOL--

Well...the majority of us (raising hand) are just surviving, if I can figure out to live on just being a beach bum and drinking Mai Tai's all day etc. I would. Thank you for the lovely comments, sorry I haven't been much to your blogs. But you know, this just surviving is for the birds. LOLO

Fairy Tailing into the Hodgepodge

1. February 26th is National Tell a Fairy Tale Day...have you read a fairy tale lately? Nope What's your favorite fairy tale? Not sure if I have one. Probably Cinderella. Do you believe in 'happily ever after'? Yes.

2. Complete one of the following sentences with a thought relating to your life currently-

Once upon a time

A long time ago there lived a girl who turned into an old lady. She can't believe 58 is coming upon her, and she wonders where did the years go? She is halfway to hundred.

In a place far far away__________

3. Which of the following 'fairy tale foods' is your favorite? My favorite is Cindrella...however...Which have you made/eaten most recently?  Peas--we had peas the other day.

porridge/oatmeal (Goldilocks and The Three Bears), an apple (Snow White), a gingerbread cookie (The Gingerbread Man), pumpkin soup/pie/bread (Cinderella), peas (The Princess and the Pea), beans (Jack and The Beanstalk) or a cup of tea (Alice in Wonderland)

4. What's your idea of fun?

I can name many others...but just sitting at the beach is fun for me.  So, yeah...beach. Like y'all didn't know that, LOL.

5. Next week's Hodgepodge lands in March. Is that right? I guess so. Give us one noun, one verb, and one adjective that tell us something about your February. To make you think a little harder, you cannot use the words cold or snowy.

Noun-Work (DOC)

Verb-Doing

Adjective-Effective

Not sure how effective...but when I couldn't return my keys on Friday or get my keys Monday due to not having access (for whatever reason)...well, I made plenty of people mad because the person who is in charge of the key watcher, was out...so I called on down the line (so to speak) all the way to the arsenal. ANYWAYS, 24 hrs later, the problem was fixed. Some glitches in the system. Whatever, so Monday I spent the day doing absolutely nothing-seriously. Couldn't go behind the gates nothing. I sat in a resource room outside the gates and got 2 weeks ahead on my paperwork. I guess that is doing something. So, all my classes got cancelled, much to the delight of the inmates, lol. One good thing, the bossman came and got me and we left at 4. It was nice getting home at a very decent hour.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

No matter where I work, when you see that lightbulb go off, its priceless. Thank you for the kind comments etc...and Faith, I'm not meaning be hilarious, LOLOLOL.

Tuesday Meme

Here we are coming up on another of Toni's Tuesday. 4  I realized today that I have been doing Tuesday 4 for more than 4 years now!

Here are this week's questions.

1. What do you do on a typical weekend? Saturday? Sunday?  How do you make them delightful or joyous? Usually Saturdays are our shopping day. I'm not sure if grocery shopping is joyous or delightful though, lol. Sundays is a do-nothing day; we have church and relax. Yesterday (Sunday) we each picked and watched our YouTube channels we enjoy. It seems we both have similar likes. lol

2.   What sources of joy do you find in your days? I tell this all the time, I pray before going into work, and when I get out, I practically kiss the ground. "Thank you, Jesus!" has become a mantra. So, I thank the good Lord and look forward to coming home and seeing the husband and dog. I'm just at the point in my life that I look forward to retirement and becoming a beach bum.

P.S. Joy in Jesus. Joy in coming home.

3. What's for dinner tonight?  Since I am writing this Monday morning, he said Chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. How will you make it a delight and a joy? Well, I work in a prison...it is really not delightful or joyous and it can get you down rather quickly. I have to remind myself whose daughter I am.

4.  How are you doing personally and how can we add to the joy and delight in your days? I have good and bad days, just like everyone else. But overall, I am f.i.n.e. Again, I dream of becoming a beach bum, LOL.

Have a beautiful day all.

Monday thought...

---Why...yes, 60* is cold. As it is right now even with rain and 99* humidity. More damp than anything.

---We call them Pub Subs. And they are the best.

---Yep. Key West. Did you know we are only 90 miles to Cuba? (been there, done that)

---Yep, sure are...even like a day today where its pouring rain.

---Well...I have 4 bathing suites and a drawer full of t shirts and shorts and a few long sleeves.

---Yep, and the icky yellow green pollen.

--- Yep...because they steal food, and they are mean nasty buggers.

---Well, yes...but no, I use an umbrella even in the direct sunlight. Listen people, its hotter than hades here most days.

---Well, I was born in Indiana and still say Pop. It's ingrained in my brain. When you order and say pop, they look at you funny, sure do.

---Why, yes. If I had a pool, I would.

---Sure is.

Have a great day all!!! I gotta' go fight the rain, traffic and work issues.

This and That...

Where to begin? Maybe the word of the day should be game changer.

---Discovered one can watch YouTube channels that normally get watched on one's laptop, you can watch on tv with YouTube TV. Wow, gamechanger.

---We stopped at TG Maxx yesterday. Yikes, it was like Christmas time--crowded and not a fun experience at all (like it usually is). Game changer, hubby found this rolling shelf that goes in between the washer and dryer. He took a shelf out to have it sit shorter. It was originally for $30; he got it for $20 as one of the wheels was broken in half.

---And put the shelf on my side of the sink and said and I quote, "I'm tired of seeing your junk everywhere, so, there I fixed it." He knows darn well; I am going to rearrange things. It is a game changer though.

---On another front, stopped at my favorite consignment store---not a fun experience yesterday, again, crowded and it was elbow to elbow. Listen, snowbirds, time for you to go home. I did buy two blouses for work. They were originally for $11 a piece and I got them for $8 each.

I figured since I was taking a photo of the shelf, I might as well take a photo of the freshly washed blouses. I don't usually show the clothes I buy.

---We also met up with friends at

for lunch.

---stopped at Walmart...and wouldn't you know it, I forgot my list...well...look what hopped in the cart...yeah...we shall not mention who has been eating them.

So, nothing is on tap for the day...I do have some laundry to do. Expecting an Amazon delivery today. Hubby needed a fan belt for his riding lawn mower, and I ordered some capris. Hopefully this week we will be back to warmer weather. The last few days have been darned right chilly. I will also put in a Pork Loin, carrots and potatoes in the oven later for dinner.

Currently...Saturday

Currently Saturday...

Weather...a cool 45*. Yesterday was miserably cold and windy, sunny. And believe me when you have to walk from one part of the compound to the other, its cold. Miserably so.

Watched: I did make it through (albeit it with 1/2 eyes open and closed) Jesse Waters and Lottery Dream Home last night. I like it when Lottery Dream Home features homes from our area/Florida. Who knew in Melbourne, Florida one could still get a home for $250,000. Hmm...not here in Ocala. Too bad Melbourne is a 2-hr. drive. I would love to live there (Space Coast).

Listening to...nothing...hubby is on his laptop, and he just handed me his list (of lawn mower parts) to order from Amazon.

Loving...did I not mention

No, no beach time this weekend. It is darn right chilly out. End of March my friends is when we are planning. After all the Bike Week and Spring breakers leave.

Thinking...about the Education Conference I have to attend in July down in Orlando. It is for the whole week, paid hotel room, hubby can come with, per diem for meals, gas etc. Very fancy hotel etc. However, highly doubt he will go due to the fact we have Lilybelle to contend with.

Feeling...

Ha, I don't know about the magical task-performing elves, nor the 5 hours more of sleep, didn't win the lottery (but did get a nice sign-up bonus from work-so that can be like winning the lottery)...and I definitely need the negativity - repelling force field. I already have the sparkling sense of humor. LOL

Going too...well, if and when I get around, it's Saturday, that means shopping day. Hubby wants to go here and there...and I really need to get in the shower thanks to an inmate getting pepper sprayed yesterday in my area and the smell going through the office door etc...yeah...I really should have jumped in the shower when I got home last night. I don't know if you have ever been pepper sprayed---but yeah...it stays on you, it burns your eyes, lungs etc.

Giggling at...

Have a great day all!!!!

Currently...I'm good, y'all

Currently... I'm good y'all!!!

Weather...36* but real feel is 29* and windy. BRISK! is the word of the day, yes, here in Central Florida.

Reading/Watching...well, nothing. I didn't even make it through Jesse Waters last night.

Listening...to the Bouy Bell outside. No, we don't live near the ocean, but we do have a Bouy Bell from Maine.

Loving/Feeling/Celebrating/Looking forward to...

Thinking...Y'all didn't miss anything in regard to my job. This all just happened Wednesday. Work is being proactive as much as they can. However, the students are still in my class. Play the game, Linda.

P.S. Even if I was in a public-school position, they do have similar issues.

Grateful...

yes, he was parodying this meme.

for the Sgt. who is assigned to me. He quite enjoyed the cookies I gave him yesterday, and he said, "Listen, Linda, I can't be bribed." LOLOLOL--We all are a little cracked to work and do what we do. LOLOL---and I might add, cookies or whatever treats will certainly go a long way. Just saying. I truly appreciate the officers who go above and beyond and tell them that every single day. That is a fact, Jack.

Enjoying...actually getting out of work on time---actually before time...it's just nice to stand there and watch the time clock. LOL

Giggling at...

Well...yes...and if they don't return their pencils they get written up.

...and??? Yep. I was in a meeting--well, ok, regarding the issue at hand, and the students wanted to know why class was 30 min. late...seriously? You're in prison what else do you have to do?

Hope each of you have a beautiful day!

Thursday Hodgepodge

Sorry folks, been so busy...getting ready for an audit today at work, the department head is coming...anyways...Thursday Hodgepodge.

1. Many of our earliest presidents created words or expressions widely used today. Teddy Roosevelt is credited with mollycoddle, pack rat, frazzle, and loose cannon...which of those words/phrases currently relates to your life in some way?

Frazzled and loose cannon. There has been a credible threat made against my life...Loose cannon goes for those 3 students who are planning an attack. Due to privacy and security, I am 'secured'. I am ok. I am actually surprised it has taken this long (7 weeks) into my class...

2. Have you visited many (or any) of the US Presidents homes, monuments, libraries or related sites? If so what's been your favorite? Are there any you particularly want to see? Yes, when we lived in NY. Here's a link to presidential sites listed by state which is kind of fun to read-Presidential Places by State. And since several bloggers who participate in the HP each week live outside the US, here's a link to Presidential Places Outside the US. Have you seen any of those?

3. February 20th is National Cherry Pie Day...will you celebrate? Given your choice of cherry pie, cherry cobbler, cheesecake with a cherry topping, or black forest cake which would you choose?

Ohhhh...Black forest and cherry cobbler. Don't make me choose.

4. Last time you worked a puzzle of some kind? Something that had you puzzled recently?

I haven't had time to work a puzzle...but...Grown women acting like fools leaves me befuddled every day.

5. Of the early blooming flowers (January-early March depending on your zone) which one's your favorite?

snowdrops, lenten roses, pansies, violets, snapdragons, reticulated iris, crocus, winter jasmine

Do you have any of these in your own yard/garden? Nope, not yet. We live in Florida, most of our yard is sand LOL --We are talking about violets and pansies to plant or have hanging baskets.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

After the initial shock of yesterday--the word of mouth/heads up and a report made, I am ok. I was not ok at first, but now, I have entered the anger side. My bosses have taken steps to ensure my mental and physical health are ok. Just keeping it real friends. I work in a dangerous place--and it was just a matter of time.

Tuesday Meme

Hey! Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4. Would you like to talk about some blasts from the past? You know... like malt shops, teen hops, proms and rock and roll?  OK, let's do it!

1. Was there a teen hangout in your town or near it where teens seemed to gravitate? What was a favorite place to go? Silver Springs Blvd. use to go sit in the formal Lorito's (now Francos) parking lot and watch the cars on the Blvd. Just hang out all night.

2  Did you attend your high school varsity games? Yep. My folks would drop me off at the corner of Booster Stadium. That corner doesn't exist anymore. What high school activities did you enjoy the most? The football games, Silver Springs Blvd. and the dances.

3. Did you have any teen idols whose music or acting you just really enjoyed? I can remember Shaun Cassidy, Prince, and others. What music did you enjoy most? Rock; Prince, ACDC, and so on. What movies? Hmm...I worked at the Ocala Movie Theatre (now the Ace Hardware Store) --so I got to see all the movies. My favorite and still remains, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, that was one my parents allowed me to stay past midnight. But you bet my dad would stop by and make sure I was there, LOL.

4. Did your school have dances or sock hops and did you attend? Yep, Dances and Square Dances.

Thanks Annie, that was fun!!! Being back here --both of us have had to face 'demons'...some have been alright and some not so.

P.S. The delivery people did NOT install the appliances even though we paid for it--they said because the venting was close to the floor--so hubby is off to Lowes today to speak to management. He is not very happy---other than that, he got it all hooked up etc. and they work great.

Monday thoughts...

I so do not want to go to work, but I must. Lowes texted and we are stop #15, so that means 1-5 window frame for the washer and dryer.

LOL. Why yes, I am wearing pants, black and an orange and black flower 3/4 sleeve blouse and pink and gray Sketchers (yes Pink and gray, gotta keep it interesting, LOL). Why? Because it is 49*.  A bit nippy and today will only reach 60*. Oh, and please don't stab anyone, you will end up in prison. LOL

Currently, when it rains...

Currently, when it rains, it pours...figuratively. More on that below.

The temperature...70* at 7:08 am. We are supposed to get heavy winds and rain later this afternoon. Then the temp drops overnight.

Listening to...nothing...well, if you count hubby talk about what he is watching on his laptop.

Thinking...when it rains, it pours. Our 12-yr old 'gadgety' washing machine has been acting up and we thought that would go first, nope, the dryer went and then the washing machine went. So, off to Home Depot and Lowes. Lowes had a 40% off sale going on. Back to the no frills---I am just done with all the gadgets etc. that our washing machine and dryer had. I don't know if the machines got jostled when the moving company or whatever moved us, but it certainly hasn't been the same and we have been nursing them the last nearly 3 yrs. So, we bought a simply no-frills machine(s). Goodbye emergency savings (what was in the emergency savings)...sigh.

They will be delivered tomorrow. They will also take the old set and hook up the new. With all the warranties etc. $1,100.

Feeling:

Repeat parrot. Going here and there, comparing this and that, plum wore me out yesterday afternoon. And thank goodness for smart phones, just saying. Because at one point I might had yelled at the husband to stop this nonsense and make up his mind.

Grateful...for at least having a savings for emergencies such as this. Well, I would consider it an emergency.

Enjoying...I told that man I am not doing anything today. Period, drop that mic. LOL--I manage to get what little laundry we did have, done yesterday morning before the washing machine went kaput. Hung up on the line outside and done within an hour. It was that warm and windy yesterday. And for the record, I asked him to keep the line up --I like to hang the sheets and blankets up. He rolled his eyes at me and said, "Linda, what are the neighbors going to think? No one hangs up laundry anymore." Who cares.

Giggling at...

Yeah, I better stop. Wishing you all a beautiful Sunday.

This or That...

While visiting fellow blogger, Jennifer, I saw her meme and thought, "Oh fun." If you have never visited her blog, I hope you do. So, here you go...

This might be my current status---and I even jumped out of bed thinking it was a workday. lol

Valentine’s This or That

red roses or pink roses

chocolate or (other) candy

homecooked meal or fancy restaurant

flowers or jewelry

sweet card or funny card

store bought card or handmade card

vanilla or strawberry

stay in or go out

dress up or pajamas

movie night or game night

conversation hearts or smarties

red or pink

strawberries or whipped creme

My answers are definitely by mood, grin. I don't normally buy fresh flowers and perhaps I ought too. But I love both, red and pink roses and if I were to be perfectly honest, I actually love yellow roses. I also love flowers and jewelry, but I have told him no more jewelry, I have a jewelry box full. My favorite color is pink, but red is more my color to wear.

Let's see, I actually love chocolate and Lindor is my favorite. And I made a mistake yesterday, the love of my life bought me Lindor, and not Ghilardi. For the life of me, I thought it was the latter, nope. Lindor Assorted and they are in a pretty pink wrapper(s). And I would never turn chocolate--except for almonds, I am allergic to those. I also like Smarties and sweet and sour candy.

So, you want to know what was for dinner last night? Chicken nuggets and tater tots. Not exactly what I would call Valentines Day. We haven't been to a so-called fancy restaurant in years, if you call Metro Diner or Five Guys fancy, ok. We were going out on weekends to eat, but with inflation, it's just nearly impossible. I actually prefer home cooking than going out. I also prefer to stay home--just because I am out and about all week working. I am not the spender in the relationship, anyway. I am the old miser. Just saying.

Handmade cards are the best...but I usually get store bought and I tell him and myself, not over $5. Both of us will stand there forever to find the perfect card. I prefer funny cards to give, he prefers serious. And funny, but we both picked similar cards this time. His was a little more serious of course, but similar. And if I was also being honest, I don't need a card. He does leave me cute notes or texts me cute little graphics.

I love vanilla bean. Especially Beyers Vanilla Bean or Publix frozen yogurt. Strawberry is ok, but vanilla bean is my favorite. But I do love strawberries and whip cream.

We used to do game nights when our son was alive. Him and his dad would get so mad playing Monopoly. I love Uno...but nope, we don't play that anymore. But we do have movie nights...I do love both. It just depends on the movie, he likes those killing action movies, I like comedy or mysteries.

Yep. at least here it is. The warden and I were walking, and she said a bad word to me; "Mrs. Conley, you won't be able to wear those Monday (pointing to my flip flops and my clam diggers/short sleeve shirt)." (oh?? why??)--"Because we are supposed to be in the 30-40's by Monday morning." (say what?)--yep apparently a cold front is moving in. Ok then...

No worries...I guess the rest of the week will be back in the 80's. No beach hits weekend, the Daytona Nascar race is this weekend which means heavy traffic. I am though, planning something for my birthday next month. It's ok...today we have to go out and buy a clothesline and some clothespins--have you seen the price of dryers? SERIOUSLY. It.will.just.have.to.wait. Have a great day all and I will try to catch up later.

Happy Valentines Day...

 Wishing you all a very...

May your day be filled love and laughter. here, I am off to work (9:30-6). There was a bag waiting for me on my laptop here at home this morning.

Hippy the hippo, a bag of Ghirardelli chocolates and a sweet card. Very much made my morning...on a sad note, our 10-yr old dryer quit...sigh...another expense...ANYWAYS...

wishing you all a beautiful day.
