Sunday Stealing...

Thank you all for the kind comments from last night. As for the concrete question, there is a 6-9 month wait here--and the manufactured home was supposed to be set on a concrete foundation.

Anyways, linking back/stolen from Terri.

1. Your favorite sport. College football: Go Gators and Roll Tide.

2. A quote to live by. Want to make God laugh? Tell Him your plans.

3. A city in the US you would like to move to. Back to Vero Beach.  Nope, I work in central Florida, so for the next 10- yrs we will be here, unless I get transferred down to Homestead/Miami, which is a big NO THANK YOU.

4. 3 beautiful little things in your life. Faith, family, friends!

5. What made you laugh today? Hmm...nothing yet. But plenty to smile about.

6. A good deed you did today.  Well, going to give more money to Walmart and Publix, LOL.

7. Activities you like to do when you are bored. Read & play on the computer.

8. Are you a procrastinator?  It depends. If I really don't like whatever, then yeah.

9. Your thoughts about dying.  I'm not afraid. I know I will meet again with our son and many others.

10. What superpower would like to have?  I wanna be like the mom in the Incredibles-have stretchy arms, LOLOLOL

p.s. a metal name tag/sign showed up on my desk and it says Ms. Conley and it has Wonder Woman on it. LOLOLOL--PROB. Because I am constantly on certain folks/departments and tell them, "WHERE'S THAT FILE? QUIT LYING To ME." lololol---you know because Wonder Woman carries a golden lasso to wrangle the truth. lololol

11. Top 3 Netflix series.  Netflix/ I have no idea what that is.

12. Things you want to do before you die. Listen, just prop me up in a beach chair by a beach and all will be good.

I've always wanted to be a mermaid, unfort. I don't like to swim in the ocean, LOLOL...It's the biggest ongoing joke around here. I have bought a few things for the second bathroom that contains mermaids or photos / quotes/ a ceiling fan pull chain etc. I am so lucky to have a husband who goes along with the craziness.

13. Your biggest fears. People who just don't get it.
Folks who don't believe in God or can't/won't whatever.
Drowning.
Snakes.

14. What makes you angry? Liars

15. Do you listen to podcasts?  Sometimes. I like a certain podcast that talks about historical events/people etc.

A very late post...

...and here I go again...not posting. We are both sitting here on a very rainy/stormy Saturday evening drinking cup of coffee. So, what's new Buttercups? ((grin))

Sorry folks, I have no interesting thoughts. Unless you want to know that we are supposed to close on the house 2 bed/2 bath cottage on Oct. 2.

We decided NOT to wait the 6-9 months for a concrete foundation-yep read that right. 6-9 MONTHS. For concrete. Yep.

Please note these are not my photos,

I took these off the website. And we are getting a brand new 2023 model direct from the factory here in Ocala.

My husband wants white cabinets, and I said no, I like the contrasting colors. OH, and the ac vents will be in the ceilings.

and we also elected to go with plain shower doors. I am slightly amused...rolling into Sept. NOTHING has been done. I am assured it will be getting done. Speaking of getting nothing done...

not my photo. I actually did not even take my phone today.

We made the short 22-mile drive to Crystal River, the Manatee aka sea cow capitol of the world (and home to nearby Weeki Watchi the mermaid capitol of the world, wink). A beautiful quaint little downtown. Nope, we never actually made it over to the public boat dock(s) to visit any manatees. It was very hot and humid after the rains had passed. Oh, but you surely can smell the river and even Crystal Bay/Gulf of Mexico.

not my photo.

We did have lunch at BubbaQues-very good and I highly recommend it. Next weekend our housemates are heading to Flagler Beach on the Atlantic side, and we will have the house to ourselves. We might make the short drive (49 miles) over to beautiful Cedar Key on the Gulf of Mexico.

not my photo

I haven't been there since I was a child. Of course, it might all depend on the weather, I hear there are some storms brewing in the Gulf and in the Atlantic. Tis the Hurricane season here in Florida. ANYWAYS...that's all I got...smiles

P.S. Coffee, our German Sheppard is doing much better, so need for a puppy...and all the stores here are decorated for fall/Autumn season...PEOPLE ITS A MILLION DEGREES, lol.

Tuesday 4

I actually have time on this fine Sunday morning to do the Tuesday 4.

Let's share our home secrets with one another.  Maybe you have some ideas other ladies would love to hear about.

1. What household tool or appliance do you rely on a lot?

Well, since we are residing with friends at the moment...I would say the Insta Pot, and now Dave /my husband wants one. He has been doing most of the cooking. Also, the dishwasher, which I have not had in over 10 yrs. And our new home will have one as well.

2. Which laundry detergent, fabric softener, and dish detergent work best for you?

We/they use Dawn, and Walmart brand for the dishwasher.

--for the laundry we use All for sensitive skin (that would be me) and Downy Free.

3. What soap do you like to use? Where do you have soap in your home... bathroom, kitchen, shower?

I personally use Dove and my husband uses Irish Spring for the shower. Bathroom hand soap we have Soft Soap and its Coconut scented. Since we only like 45 min. from the beach, I prefer that scent, much to my husband's chagrin. LOL.

4.  What is the secret to a clean home in your opinion?

Every day, wipe the shower and sinks down and also sweep the floors as well. Where we are currently living, they have real wood floors so it's easy to maintain. Our new home will have laminated flooring, so it will be easy to maintain as well. So, every day, keep the sinks, showers, toilets and such cleaned.

Let's Play...

Oh, I see the Sunday Stealing is kind of fun today ((grin)). Stealing from Myra ((more grins)).

I am currently obsessed with: Trying to get our house situation settled and getting in. There has to be a reason for all the delays, right? My husband keeps telling me to let it be.

Today I am happy because: Happy? Content? Not sure about either of those...it's been a rough 8 months...just keeping it real. We will be here back in Florida next week for 5 months. 5 months and I am NOT complaining...our friends have opened their home to us. It's just time to get going on our own.

The age I am is 55 and the age I feel is 80. Just keeping it real. I really don't like being unsettled.

My favorite place is...

Something I have been procrastinating is: Nothing. Oh wait, my husband just came in and asked me to go over to our property and help him stake it out where the home is going-the mobile home company wants us to do that--the thing is, I don't have the proper shoes to do so...but nonetheless, yeah....and have I mentioned its already 92* (real feel).

The last thing I purchased was: besides the normal stuff? Ok, so I know better, but we do our usual thrift store(s) visiting on Saturdays and I found in a dark corner in our favorite Antique place, 3 vintage Green Depression Glass Goblets...I have never ever seen these before. Of course, we all know I collect this.

Bad Linda...and of course the husband is like, "Linda, what is the golden rule? Buy it and don't hmm and haw." The original price was $15 a glass and I told him (the owner) sorry, couldn't afford it...and he sold them to me for $8 a piece. Yeah...still pricey. But I know how much they cost...so yeah.

The thing I love most about my home is: What home?

My most prized possession: Right now, memories.

If I could be one age for the rest of my life I would want to be: I liked to say I would like to turn the clock back to 30 when my son was born, start over and have more time with him. But you know, that's not possible...and honestly, I really don't want to fantasize about that.

My outlook on life: I am pretty much an optimistic person, but lately...not so much.

If you want to annoy me: Don't lie to me...I can always tell you when you/one is/are.

I am completely defenseless when it comes: Babies and puppies.

The bravest thing I've ever done was: The bravest? Probably bungee jumping

Something that keeps me awake at night is: Not having a place to live.

My favorite meal in the entire world is: Pizza. That's a whole diff. food group, right? ((grin))

We were discussing this last night...I gave away my snow boots when we moved here and not to mention most of the winter items, jackets, scarves etc. I am so not going back to living that lifestyle. What bought this on? Our local Walmart has bubble jackets and their winter items for sale, in Florida. Yes, it does get nippy, but not like in NY where at times it was like -30. No matter how miserably hot and humid it is, I am not going back --

Nope.

Late Saturday Post...

Wow, again, didn't mean to stay away this past week...no excuses.

Sounds good to me. I know our housemates are heading to the beach next weekend as we do have a long weekend from work. Us? Nowhere. Staying here.

Not much. Getting the permits for the home etc. is difficult. Marion County is backlogged. My folks waited 6 months for windows and the permit, and they just had the windows installed yesterday. Mom called to ask if we were having problems getting the permits etc. Well, not us personally, but yes, the company is. Yep, need a permit to just put in windows at one's home. SO, that is where we are at. I told them today WE MUST BE IN BY THE END OF OCTOBER. ANYWAYS...moving along...(and ha--they just looked at me like I had lost my mind, nope. O-C-T-O-B-E-R people, OCTOBER.)

I am so happy the Dixie Cottage (Pamela's kids) posted a photo. I did not take a photo of the desk we bought from them. Isn't it a beauty? When we visited our house today, I knew exactly where it was going.

Pamela's photo I stole borrowed from her.

...and t thankfully Pamela's son took a photo of us, again, I did not take a photo or many. My mind is still in Dixie Cottage, Benton and Rose have done a phenomenal job. smiles

Yep... you can find me there, grin.

Oopsies Daisies...

Oopsie Daisies...hadn't realized it's been a whole week. Gonna' link back Monica.

Yeah, pretty much.

Time: 2pm

Scene: Soupy, over cloudy and looks like rain. 86* real feel is 93*, dewpoint 71*, humidity 60%.

Drinking: Sprite.

Dinner: Spaghetti and meatballs.

Doing: Nothing. We did run here and there this morning and back to Dunnellon to Walmart.

Pondering: Our little side trip we took yesterday:

we had a little rain, although when we were leaving their home, it was pouring and soon as we got to the Putnam/Marion County lines, it had stopped.

We decided to make a visit to fellow blogger Pamela's son and daughter in love's shop; Dixie Cottage in Interlachen. OH, and we did buy a rolltop desk and Benton (Pam' son) is kind enough to hold it for us until the house gets done.

After lunch we went to Pam and John's home. Such a lovely home, so much love etc...and there is the famous pond, right off their back porch. Unfort. we are sort of in a drought...some places get daily rain, and some don't. Here in Dunnellon/the Ocala are, we get daily afternoon rain.

Her famous sign. I asked demanded? her to see it (ok, ok, I sort of demanded it, lol)...like I said, their home is very lovely as they are as well.

And of course, I finally met Ms. Lily Grace and her friends. I did, however, forget to bring the George family and Stephen the Sloth. Honestly, we weren't sure if we were going to make the visit or not. Ms. Lily Grace sure is friendly and I even got a hug--ok ok, I might have just hugged her without asking, grin.

I firmly don't believe in coincidences; the good Lord puts us in places, people, etc. It is always wonderful when one can spend time with likewise/Christian folks. We had a great time, wonderful conversations etc. We shall be back...like I told/texted back and forth with Pam last night, you have our desk, LOLOL. Interlachen is only barely an hour drive.

Friendships are forever minted...and such a blessing it is.

Sunday Chat...

I am just going to say this, I am just too lazy to link back etc... everyone knows this meme comes from Monica.

Time: 9:55 am

Scene: 83* feels like 91*, sunny.

Drinking: Nothing. Already had coffee. I do have a chicken slider from Walmart we got yesterday.

Doing: I hung up the laundry...been up since 6 am. Hubby is out trying to fix a bent frame on the trailer wheel. A certain someone (not him) decided to have a hissy fit and hit something on the way home from Ohio--they got a flat tire, and the trip was miserable. I am hiding out here in the bedroom--certain folks are getting on my nerves with their bickering. Hey, here is a thought, YOU choose to be miserable, just saying. I choose to be not involved with their problems, just saying.

What's for dinner? I am going to put a pork roast in the Insta Pot, throw in some potatoes and call it a day, just saying.

This week: work...many changes are going on...we (Classification) have a new supervisor now and I have two coworkers who are not happy with the changes and their bad attitudes are really getting on my nerves. For instance, one of the changes brings the fact that each of us have been assigned a Classification Officer and files will be assigned accordingly (as I have been working the Intake files by myself)--LOVE THIS IDEA. And the two officers who have been assigned to me, LOVE this as well. We are now (starting tomorrow) responsible for these files, and they will answer to me from now on. Hey, folks, just heads up, never ever mess with Classification people, we can 'mess' you up, just saying...I grew very tired of missing files etc. Now the other two are responsible for theirs etc. The new supervisor is figuring out and weeding out the ones who are not responsible etc. For instance, Thursday, I had a intake from another prison who came in at 2 am, the file was lost, I made my calls and visited Confinement, Control Room, T&R and the file was missing. It showed up out of the blue Friday sitting on the Vault shelf...interesting, because there are only 5 of us in there. ALL parties knew about the file. Watch my back comes to mind. BTW, folks, we have cameras everywhere, they knew who returned it etc...I also been dealing with Out to Court and transfers etc...and going on Fridays to take over the education part. Yeah, 'responsibility' is weighing heavy.

Weather: hot hot hot...that is the word...

August 4th: on the way to work at 6:30 am, I saw a rocket/satellite launch from the "Cape" Kennedy Space Center. It was thrilling--and I am quite sure my son heard me all the way in Heaven, grin. I called my husband, and he was like, "Don't ever scare me like that again, I thought you were in an accident." LOLOLOLOL--I had forgotten what that was like: seeing that.

So, I am learning...I simply don't have time or the energy to deal with bullies and jealously...none, zip.  Just saying.

Late....Meme Filled Saturday

Sorry y'all...to answer a few comments before the meme:

--The SUV is NOT fixed...still awaiting doors. HOWEVER, the hubby popped out the dents, doesn't look as bad...but still ugly.

--The husbands are back from Ohio. They were picking up Bob's (our housemate--wait we are visitors in their home) late brothers 1967 Harley Shovelhead. That was an ordeal.

--I think (in answering Annies's thought/comment) these last 8 months (nearly)--of our sons passing, it is really hitting both of us...and no, it really hasn't gotten better. It is really hard knowing Christmas will be coming around etc...it is what it is. And we are coming to grips with the very real fact we were in the other room when he quietly passed away...fell asleep and never woke up...it's a bit unsettling. The coroner really kept it real with us and said he did not suffer...his heart gave away and we were very lucky to have him for 24 years--16 yrs. after his open-heart surgery. Still, he was a fine young man and were lucky enough to be his parents. And all the time(s) the good Lord said NO on buying a house in NY...HE seemingly was preparing us...and we are comforted knowing our son knew the Lord and we know where he is...etc.

Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.  Let's talk about books and reading. If you are not a reader, consider substituting movies and TV programs.

1.  What book brought out your emotions and why?

Revelations in the Bible...but I will say the Harry Potter series...I sure remember the teen years and now living back in our hometown have definitely bought back memories some good and bad. Also, parent and other issues still exist. I think we all have 'demons' that we live with--I'll just keep it at that.

2.  How has reading changed your life both for good or for bad? What you get out of it?

I often loose myself in a book. That can be good or bad just depending on the storyline. I am reading this book right now:

The secrets that folks keep and the price that one pays.

3.  What character(s) do you love and which do you hate and why?

Bad people...if you haven't read the Harry Potter series, I won't give it away, but I detest bullies, period. I deal with bullies (and not inmates) every single day and it gets pretty exhausting.

4. What book or books do you think everyone should read once in their lifetime?

I read a lot of historical novels/books. But I think you should read

Jimmy Buffet is a storyteller, and his books are great...and if you like to simply get lost in a book and let your imagination go wild--read the Harry Potter series. Or the James Patterson novels for young adults (Maximum Ride Series, Hawk Series, Daniel X Series --I have kept our sons' books and we both loved those series).

Although, it's a zillion degrees here in Florida, The Cracker Barrel had these and I bought a bag---want to talk about delicious, yep...it's just too hot to think about fall or winter.

So, I am finding this to be true...and my husband and I are finding life has to be getting back to whatever the new normal needs to be. Neither of us are sure what that is...no news on the cottage going in etc. All we know is everything is so expensive and going up and up...and are hearts are healing...the only thing we know for sure, our relationship is growing with one another and with the Lord, just keeping it real y'all.
