Tuesday Meme

 I am pre posting/publishing setting this on Sunday afternoon.

 It's time once again for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.  Let's talk about cowboys this week.

1.  Do you like western style chuck wagon cooking?  Stews, chilis, beef steaks, BBQ  etc.?

Yes. Especially in the winter months. Although, since moving back to Florida, my husband likes to BBQ outside. So, chilis, and such aren't much part of our plans now.

2.  Do you make a good chili, or do you know someone whose chili is the best ever? Beans, meat or both?

Both of us can make chili. My husband prefers beans; black, kidney, pinto. I prefer more meat, so we always compromise. I also make some sort of pasta with it on the side. It cuts down on the "gassy" bloating. ALSO, you can add a bit of oatmeal which soaks up the heat/tomatoes and or a bit of chocolate in the cooking process. Both can do good. I also prefer the way my mother use to make it; Chicago/Midwest style it is not thick.

P.S. did you know there are 11 different types / kind of pasta?

3. Who is your favorite cowboy movie star?

Hmm...hard to say I really don't have one. I like most cowboy movies or as I grew up being told, "Spaghetti Westerns". I liked the foreign/Italian movies growing up.

4.  Do you have a favorite western TV show or movie?

I grew up with Bonanza, The Wild West, Gunsmoke etc. So, really, I liked them all.

The Month of March is coming in faster than you can say the word March. March is our birth months, and I am gently reminded that Liam would of have been 26 at the end of March. It is just so hard to believe he has been gone for 15 months now. Time waits for no one...

Staycation Sunday Salon...

 

TIME: 8:00 AM

SCENE: 61*, Dense fog, will warm up back to mid 80's.

DRINKING: Second cup of New England Breakfast Blend coffee with Italian Creamer.

Whatcha' eating? (I made that up, grin)

Breakfast: Who knows. Eggs?

Lunch: Prob. a sandwich?

Dinner: Hubby is grilling; steak, baked potatoes and Southwest corn--he already has all this planned out, grin.

PONDERING:

--We had this "pow wow" at work Friday and it turned into let's attack Ms. Conley by the two younger minions. Thanks for having my back supervisors, NOT. Not sure if they were just awestrucked or what. But I will address this with the supervisors--oh there goes that tone (rolling eyes). The younger minions are upset on how my 'tone' is all wrong and how upset they are I got a promotion etc. Poor things. I wouldn't call it a promotion right now as the supervisors have decided to kowtow to them and now, I have been pulled from my new duties because apparently, they have found fault with the other twos work, and I now must do their jobs as well because "they are behind". Work has turned into such a drama mama place. I am being pulled in every direction and it's just enough to want to commit a crime.

*on second thought out of the 3 supervisors that were in the room, 1 did back me up. Of course, that was nepotism according to the 2 younger minions. rolling eyes

**there is no 'team' work so to speak. And it has been noticed by others.

--The warmer weather here. Humidity is creeping up and as part of the going backwards in the job-I now have to walk down to T &R (Transfer and Receiving) every afternoon to get paperwork because the other two are whining; it's so hard, so hot, whyyyyy do they have to do it, why does she get to wear tennis shoes? etc. 

--decorum and professionalism have gone out the window. Yep, this younger generation is something else. At least where I work it is. This thought of entitlement and give me is just enough to slap someone.

Good news though:

YET. I better leave it there.

Which brings me to:

After spending the day out and about yesterday (grocery shopping, makeup shopping to which Sephora did not have what I needed nor did online because Bare Minerals does not make the particular shade of blush anymore) clothes shopping: Marshalls and TJ Maxx. I am having a stay cation here at home today. Need to prepare myself mentally for the week. Since one of the minions was whining, I now have to cover TABE (Teaching Adult Basic Education testing) for Wed. Thur. Friday as the instructor is out, and the one minion was supposed to cover it. We are 671 inmates behind in testing. WHY? Because of various quarantines, lockdowns, confinement etc. This is not good. 

***geesh sounds like I am whining. LOL

P.S. so many of you replied to being in the same room as my husband (dr. visit). I am appalled to being in the same room. AND Florida still requires a questionnaire and answer to be filled out BEFORE one enters the/a facility and the majority of dr.'s are wearing masks. It's just so silly. JMO but whatever this mess/illness is, it's going to be here, and we are going to have to deal with it etc. The dr. and I had a little conversation about this. For the most part, she agreed that the masks we wear, really don't protect say like 5% and she was like, something is better than nothing. Hmm...distrubing.

Simple Woman's Daybook

 For Today on this warm 85* day. A day off for the dr.'s. appointments.

Looking out my window: Bright, sunny and breezy.

I am thinking: Ok, I have to amend my statement how Ocala isn't slow (or as I remember it) --the dr. today took a total of 3 hrs.  3 hrs. and they had my husband and I together in the same room. No thanks, I let them know that right away. Although he knows everything about me: saw me cut open and dying etc.: I prefer to not share this aspect. Poked prodded, blood samples drawn, urine sample done, we go back on March 7. I also have to see an orthopedist for the arthritis. Who knows when that will be, it could be next week or 6 months from now. Its whenever they/the dr. can get me in.

I am thankful though: Because since we had to fast, he did take me to Chick -Fil- La afterwards. I had such an awful headache from fasting 15 hrs. 

One of my favorite things: Coming home, period.

I am wearing: I quickly changed once we got home. Pj's with flamingo print.

In my kitchen: I will make a homemade pizza tonight; pepperoni and mushroom.

Postscript: 

Although my major complaint was having to share a room/dr. with my husband --the dr. was nice, and I liked her. In all fairness, when it came to my turn, he did leave the room (he knew I wasn't happy, just saying). Just call me old fashion. I did get up to leave for him, but he told me to stay. 

--she did give me a note for work stating to please allow me to wear athletic shoes. Those are a no no, but my supervisor already told me to get a note and they would accept that. So, athletic shoes will be the norm now.

--having a cup of coffee to weed off this headache.

--While at Chick Fil A-we always pray over our meal, and we were praying over our meal and had no idea folks were watching and a woman and her family come up and praised us. They were here from Canada -their daughter is in a softball tournament here. We also said a prayer for their travels.

--kudos to Mark, the person who took our order. What a nice, pleasant, funny man who told everyone that listened, "My God be with you and have a Blessed day." 

--which brought me to a thought: I wonder about people. I wonder what causes so much evil in this world...and how many folks are so lost and in that same thought, those of us who are Christian and are afraid to step up to the proverbial plate.

WHAT'S ON TAP FOR THE DAY? 

--Stripped the bed linens and will throw them in the wash. Wish I had a clothesline.

--Hopefully going to sit in the sun for a while.

--Iron my clothes for the week (no day off tomorrow).

--Making a list of items to discuss with the dr. on Wednesday (I am really not wanting to go back on arthritis medicine, but the pain has been unbearable these last few days due to the cool dry weather).

--Work on painting the toenails.

THINKING: Nothing in particular. Yesterday, we went to a couple of places, then to Publix for a few grocery items, stopped at the

Tasty Bowl where one can get Gluten free and GMO-Free food-thankfully as I have gluten issues and have to watch what I eat. 

and we were home by 2 where I promptly became a couch potato until 11pm (grin). 

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

It's nice to know my feet will be thanking me this week with the weather warming up. I just don't think my feet are made to wear shoes, grin. Of course, that means having to paint the toenails and get the feet ready for warmer weather. LOL

Saturday 9...

 So, I have been trying for an hour to get this post up and running...but you know, hubby just wants to argue over politics...sigh...It is a cool, crisp morning here in Central Florida at 47*. Weird weather, it has been in the mid 80's all week, the humidity creeping up. Anyways, here we go.

Saturday 9: Saturday Night's Alright (1973)

1) In this song, Elton John tells us it's 7:00 PM on Saturday evening and he's ready to rock with his friends. What will you be doing at 7:00 this evening? At 7? Probably will be sitting in front of the tv with my laptop. 

2) His sister is ready to party, too. The lyrics tell us she looks cute with "a handful of grease in her hair." What haircare products would we find in your bathroom right now? Ok, since moving back to Florida, I have had to change my whole routine. I now buy Paul Mitchell products. AND since I have a nice paying job, I can afford to. I also been keeping my hair a little shorter (just a little above the shoulder) and more layered. With this humidity and having fine baby hair, it helps. I have a found a very nice young girl who works in the Villages who knows hair. :)

3) He sings that by Saturday, he's had it with the aggravation and discipline of the past week and now he's ready to cut loose. How did last week treat you? Ugh...trying to be formally integrated with my new job position. I told hubby Thursday I am not sure I am cut for it. I am being taught (well, teaching myself really because my boss is too busy) how to do transfers from one prison to another. I know, it's only been a week, but I hope things catch on sooner than later. I am also doing my old job as the other two young people are on administrative duty; filing and intakes only--the bosses have found mistakes with their work. Shaking my head...I shall refrain from discussing this. I have refused to train them-and it has been noted on why. They are untrainable as they already "know it all". That is there is attitude-not mine. And for the record, I am tired, overworked and overwhelmed. 

4) This Saturday night finds Elton and his friends "packed pretty tight" in their bar of choice. Agoraphobics have a hard time feeling safe in busy, crowded places. How about you? Are you comfortable in a crowd? It depends.

5) The lyrics were written by Bernie Taupin, Elton's frequent collaborator. Bernie ranks this near the top of his favorite Elton John records. What's your favorite? Rocket Man and Pinball Wizard. I saw him in concert once when I was a teenager--excellent.

6) Elton has turned his bad eyesight into a hobby, claiming that over the years he has purchased well over 200,000 pairs of glasses. Do you wear glasses? If so, how many prescription pairs do you own? I do wear glasses as I have an astigmatism and wear bifocals. Actually, I am taking this coming Wednesday off to get a major overhaul; dr. appointment with a new doctor and hopefully I can make rounds to see the eye dr. I only own one pair and I need to get that kind that turn into sunglasses. The glare here in Florida is just awful.

7) Elton once had to cancel an international tour because of an emergency appendectomy. Do you still have your appendix? Yep, why you need one? lol.

8) In 1973, when this song was popular, M*A*S*H was at the top of the ratings. Who is your favorite M*A*S*H character? I don't have one.

9) Random question: Who is the wisest person you know? Wisest person? It's a not a person, but the Bible. Wise words that have long been forgotten. Just saying.

On a final note, I have come to the startling realization I have left behind friends...and somewhat my need for family time. So, I think I will take some vacation time for my birthday in March and go/do something. What, I don't know. All work and driving to and forth is making me one sad person.

Sunday Salon

 Good morning! To answer your question about picking locks; my grandpa taught me. I am quite certain he didn't know what to do with a "female" grandchild-just saying. We would spend countless hours in the O'Hare Airport, horse track and many other places. I can also read people pretty well. Summers were often spent with my grandparents and extended family. My grandfather was a very tall, large man at 6'5, bulky and worked for Chicago Steel as a teamster. He was tough. But he loved his grandchildren very much.

We had been dodging rain yesterday/waterlogged and finally came home around 1 and decided to become chair and couch potatoes. grin

TIME: After 8 am

SCENE: 59, cloudy and under a wind advisory.

DRINKING: My first cup of New England Breakfast Coffee with Italian Creamer.

WHAT'S FOR DINNER? Well, hubby had planned on making Beef Stew, but we didn't have it, actually we didn't have anything last night but dinner rolls and some fruit. Neither of us wanted anything. So, we might have that or the leftover chicken wings from Friday. Don't know.

THINKING/PONDERING: Some topics going around in our household.

--Yesterday marked 14 months since our son passed away. I am glad he isn't living through this mess of a government and the 'what's coming' that no one can stop. Inflation, high crime, the turning away from God, pro-China government that our very own government is promoting etc. It is a scary time we are living in. Just saying. Evil is around us...

Yesterday and all night was a 'gully washer' out there. It thundered stormed pretty much all night. Today, it's cool and cloudy. Ask me again come say April when I am wanting cooler weather, LOL. 

THIS WEEK: Back to the grind. Since my promotion, it has been literally the grind. It was nice to clean out my desk Friday and move into my own space. I am not only doing my job but others as well, we are down 2 people. Although I have to say, it makes the day go fast/er. My promotion has caused quite a stir and jealously and even got this attitude that nepotism is alive and well-I even had to write an incident report against a new employee/co worker, sigh...which brings me to the word nepotism. According to the dictionary is the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs. I simply applied, had a series of interviews and they picked me. If only those who claim this thought of nepotism only knew how many job interviews, I have had for various positions the last couple of months. I have been there for 9 months now, am I moving up to fast? Perhaps.

Prob next month. It really doesn't need it as I got it cut late last month and she did a nice job.

3) Sinatra is often photographed in hats because he began losing his hair while in his 30s. He wore "a rug" for TV, concert and film appearances but really didn't like it, considering the toupee merely part of his work attire. What do you wear when you wish to appear professional? 

I can tell you what I wear on a daily basis, business casual. Slacks and a nice blouse and since the weather is warming up (ha, when is it not warm here in Fl. lol) we are allowed to wear those "clam diggers" nothing about the knee though--and skirts and dresses have to be at the knee. We are allowed to wear sandals, wedges, open toed shoes etc.

4) Sinatra is best known for his singing and won an Oscar for his acting. But not many people know he liked to paint until he widow sold his paintings at auction. Do you have a secret talent?

I can pick locks. Yep. Bring it on, any lock.

5) As a kid, he was a paperboy in his hometown of Hoboken, NJ.  Tell us about one of your early jobs.

I worked at the Ocala Movie Theatre when I was 14 until I was 18. Loved it.

6) The holiday is also known as The Feast of St. Valentine. Do you have a special meal planned for Tuesday?

No. There will be nothing special about the day as I have to work, and hubby just asked me this question.

7) The phrase "wear your heart on your sleeve" began in medieval times. On Valentine's Day, men would celebrate the holiday by displaying their lady love's name on their sleeves. If you were going to adopt this custom, whose name would you wear?

HA. You will never see a tattoo on me, so nothing.

8) Women buy and send more Valentines than men do. Who received the last greeting card you sent?

  It's been a while...sad to say.

9) Sweethearts, those candy hearts with sayings like "BE MINE" stamped on them, began as throat lozenges. Are you fan of these little candies?

So so...It's a take it or leave it sort of thing.

I am over the month of February. March is fast approaching and that means hot/humid weather will also be upon us sooner than later. March is our birthdays months. Another birthday...60 is coming up in 4 years. Yikes, where have the years gone? Grin. I will try to catch up later, hubby has things to do in town today and I might tag along, although it is pouring rain and severe weather is expected.

Dill Dalying Sunday Salon...

Another week gone by and still absent from the blog/FB world. Sorry about that.

TIME: 8:15 AM

SCENE: 55* and foggy. Suppose to be near 75* today.

Drinking: My second cup of Breakfast Blend coffee with Italian Sweet creamer.

What's on tap for the day? Grocery shopping and I would venture to say thrift store shopping.

Pondering:

***hubby wanted to go go go yesterday, sigh.

---yesterday hubby wanted to go over to the Ocala Drive In as they are having yard sales through Feb-Sept. It was quite chilly and brisk on that side of town.

---he also wanted to stop at The Carriage Trade, a high-end consignment furniture store which is on Silver Springs Blvd. Yeah, a little pricey for my blood.

---by that time, it was way past lunchtime, and I might had been getting a little hangry. So, we stopped at Loritos, which is also on Silver Springs Blvd. I grew up on Loritos (might have mentioned that before). Different owner, same taste. Since hubby knew I was tired, he ordered another pie to take home.

---nope, not done. He wanted to actually stop in downtown--which one has to travel though to get home too.

First stop was Brick City Bicycles. Ok, another high-end store. Who can afford such bikes? My husband has two such high end bikes that he got at yard sales.

We walked up the street, crossed the busy Silver Springs Blvd and onto downtown. I can remember way back when I was kid, there was a fountain in the middle, nope, no more.

Ocala has since gone through a major revitalization--aggressive I would say. It is now full of beautiful colored buildings and expensive boutiques. And beautiful brick roads.

--we also stopped at Grandpa Joe's Candy Store

We limited ourselves to a bag of Jelly Belly Popcorn jellybeans and a bag of Cow tails. You want an experience? Go to a Grandpa Joes...just saying. Think Charlie and the Choclate Factory-wow.

---then he wanted to stop at Home Depot which is on State RD 200--AND NO the pavers and such have not been done yet. It takes money and the price of things have gone up like 60%. AND we are still awaiting the door. 

--came home and worked on taxes and finally crashed at 11:30 pm.

Ocala is known as the Brick City and the horse capital of the world. In 1846, Ocala was appointed the county seat of newly formed Marion County. By the late 1850s, the town was one of the leading social and business centers in Florida. The Civil War all but destroyed commerce in Ocala and the population dwindled to around 200. After nearly two decades of growth, the town center was virtually destroyed by fire on Thanksgiving Day, 1883. In rebuilding, brick and other fire-resistant materials were used instead of lumber. Oh, Ocala now has nearly 400,000 years around citizens. When I was growing up, it was known as Slow 'Cala. No more...sigh.
