Sunday Salon...

 Good afternoon.

TIME: 3:30 PM

SCENE: Partly cloudy and 81*.

DRINKING: a Sprite.

WHATS FOR DINNER? Stuffed Manicotti and Meatballs, Garlic knots.

PONDERING:

--visited my folks today. Mom has been sick yet again--and jmo, but everyone I know who took the booster shot have been deathly ill. Just keeping it real. She doesn't look well and it's difficult to see my folks hitting 80 in a few years.

-- It's interesting to see all the different shops that our hometown offers. There is a Publix, Walmart, Aldi's, Marshalls, TJ MAXX and hundreds of restaurants all near us and one another. Unfortunately, it might take a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to get anywhere. For instance, my folks are only 5 miles, but it takes nearly a 1/2 hr.

--The pavers/colors etc. we are looking at to finish out the front area/sidewalk.

--taking photos of all the work my husband has been doing around the house.

--what to wear to work this week/ironing.

Late Saturday Post...

Sorry y'all...we had some friends come in from Ohio during the week (they are staying with other friends) and we spent the day together. Tony is Croatian like me and it was nice hearing my native language that was spoken in my childhood home. We are hoping they make the permanent move here, right now they spend Jan-April here in Florida. ANYWAYS---how about the meme from this week?

Welcome once again to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4
where we hope you will stretch your mind, your imagination and your friendships online by sharing a bit of yourself with others.

This week the subject is Your Home.

1. What kind of home do you have, and does it need repair or improvements this year?

We live in a 3-bedroom 2 bath mobile home on a little piece of land. And the county came out yesterday and told us we got a brand-new roof in September, so, nope...no improvements, except the stairs my husband built.

when we moved in Oct.

2. How do you accessorize your home inside and out?  Plants, art, books, wall hangings, maybe music in the background?

Right now, we haven't done much outside, but we got plans. My husband has been busy this past week getting creative hanging photos/artwork. Also, been unpacking books.

3. What objects reside on your coffee table?

I don't have a coffee table; I have an ottoman.

Side tables?

Two side tables both have glass lamps filled with seashells, my mother's blue depression glass candy dish, books, 2 flamingo wood statues, a seashell basket.

Kitchen/Dining table?

The dining table has pink rose cloth placemats, a green depression plate that holds napkins and green depression salt and pepper shakers.

4.  Do you like your kitchen organized and with counters cleared off or do you prefer to have the things you use often out on counters?  Do you mind what some might see as clutter, or do you hate having to dig out tools and appliances when it comes time to use them? and prefer to have them within easy reach?

I like a clean and tidy kitchen, right now our kitchen needs a major redo, and it has no or very little cabinet space/counter space. I actually bought a desk (yes, its desk with cubbies inside) for a coffee bar.

I am really tired and have no new photos to share. I suppose I ought to get around and update house photos. I hope you all had a beautiful day.

Sunday Thoughts...

Since I don't have much to talk about...I'll just keep it simple and real ((grin)).

TIME:
7:45 AM

SCENE:
60* & Cloudy. Suppose to be back to the mid 70's today and more rain later.

DRINKING:
My first cup of coffee -New England Breakfast with Italian Cream.

WHATS FOR DINNER?
Excellent question. My husband mentioned fish (baked cod). But I am just not interested--he wants that so he said he will find me something else. Grin

***On second thought he asked me to make Chicken Alfredo with Peas (he likes it with peas).

WHAT'S ON TAP FOR THE DAY?
Nothing much. We decided to venture out yesterday for a bit to the grocery store. Got caught up in the pouring rain on the way out of the store -hubby was hungry and we stopped at McDonalds. It actually was pretty good. ANYWAYS, we were soaked, came home and put the heat on for a bit. We became couch potatoes until about 11 pm; had leftover Beef Stew and watched tv, played on our laptops.

--Today hubby wants to clean out the heating/air ducts. Looks to be another cloudy/rainy day here. Prob. more organizing.

PONDERING:
Not much. The state of affairs we are in here in America/Globally. Hence why I have not been online much...it's really sad the double standards one lives by; from the current occupancy of the WH, to money grabbing politicians, war, lies, lies told by the news, crime, inflation, literal gaslighting etc. and so forth. It is sad.

LISTENING TO:
Hubby asking me did I want some cinnamon tolls for breakfast-he is going to put them in the oven. He is also discussing politics (reading the news) and discussing what 2 Timothy has to say about all this.

TWO FUNNIES TO SHARE:

and this where we are as a country-folks are just ok with it...jmo.

BUT THE TRUTH:

Have a beautiful day all.

Currently...

 Linking back to Stacy...

Currently

Scene: It's 7:30 am on a cloudy Saturday. Temps are back into the 60"s today with rain. The last few days have been near 80 and quite humid.

On the television: Nothing right now. Friday nights are reserved for Lottery Dream Homes (HGTV) and Maine Cabin (MAGNOLIA) reruns. Saturday usually Magnolia Channel and HGTV.

Reading: Nothing. Does blog prompts/ideas count?

Feeling: Tired...had to cover for folks this week. Several folks in the department are out with this new flu variant/respiratory ailment. Pretty much a ghost town around work...so I am hoping I don't catch it.

Thinking: How nice its Saturday

Hopeful: I don't have to cover for a coworker on Monday-the last few days have been dealing with satans spawns. Sorry, Lord...don't mean to call inmates/fellow human beings that. But the group I had to deal with, they have some real hardcore issues that required patience that I didn't know I had. One in particular who is 19 and has been sentenced to 47 years for murder to kill a 12-year-old-to which she did kill herself/not the hitman. She was something else, rolling eyes. I couldn't wait for her to leave my area. Such a foul mouth, foul ugly black heart person---her aura was just so black... I sometimes look at folks and wonder how in the world they became this way.

Loving: Coming home, period. This week has tried my patience like no other.

Looking forward to: Hmm...the weekend off? lol

I really don't have much to say, honest. I had a hard time coming up with this. LOL

Tuesday Meme

I am pre posting this late Monday and thank you for the kind thoughts on Mondays post. And yes, a brand new Insta Pot for only $10 and boy, I love it. The roast and potatoes came out very nicely. Now, I can see why my late grandmother loved her pressure cooker, just saying, LOL.

How about the subject of Hollywood, its 'stars', its products and it's affect on the world?

1.  Which of the big movie stars of the past were your favorites? why?

I prefer the old movies with Fred Astair, Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, Spencer Tracy, Katherine Hepburn, Humphery Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Joan Crawford, Doris Day, Joan Fontaine, Jean Harlow etc. Why? Because they were classy. Not like these current stars who curse, do nude scenes etc. I like to have imagination when I watch a movie and relax. These newfound movies that curse and have violence, no thanks...give me old black and white movies.

2. Of the 'Blockbusters', which do you think is the all-time greatest? Which was one you would see again?

Gone with the Wind, but there are so many movies I like...and currently it was the second TOP GUN. BTW, I met Tom Cruise many years ago when I worked at the movie theatre here in Ocala and he was filming a movie here---and I will briefly say, he isn't much different from his movie ego. He really is an intense individual and gets into the role(s).

3.  Are you up on the latest Hollywood gossip? What interests you or alternatively why doesn't it interest you?

Nope. Could care less. All these spoiled Hollywood stars. No thanks.

4. Some movies, plays had a big impact on people. Orson Welles radio performance of War of the Worlds caused havoc including suicides and accidents.   Is there a movie that you were greatly influenced or affected by?

So many movies...Sound of Music, Gone with the Wind...all for obvious reasons (history).

Thanks for dropping by and thank you so much for participating and making this a lot of fun for everyone.

Sunday Salon

Moving along to the Sunday Salon.

Time: 7:30 AM (although I have been up since 6:30)

Scene: Sunny and 30*. Suppose to warm up to 60 and by mid-week supposed to be back in the mid 80's.

Drinking: My second cup of New England Breakfast Blend with Italian Cream.

What's on tap for the day?

--haircuts

--grocery shopping/getting stuff for my lunches this week

--hubby going to put the hinges on his shed door (we had a falling down shed in the backyard and he managed to fix it up this past week).

--Laundry

--Might stop by and see the folks, since they have been showing up here randomly during the week.

Pondering...nothing much. OH, I so can't wait to see the price of eggs, LOL. I wish I hadn't thought it was funny, but I do. I did not notice the price yesterday as I had only made my way over to the milk section.

Late Saturday Simple Woman's Daybook...

Apologies for the non-blogging (it's been a long week at work) and late posting on this nippy Saturday evening.

Looking out my window...it's dark at 7:25 pm and quite nippy at 43*. We are under a hard freeze warning--yep in Central Florida.

I am thinking... As I look around, I am on the couch and hubby is in my chair. Funny how he likes the chair and I like the couch. Anyways, I am quite comfortable in our home.

I am thankful for... a good job that pays well and I can afford to go clothes and shoe shopping, which we did today, hence the reason for the late post--thank you Marshalls. HOWEVER, I am not happy about the rising prices of groceries.

One of my favorite things...arriving home safe and sound every day from work and seeing my husband.

I am creating...I already created a pepperoni pizza for dinner---a late dinner. Only because hubby decided to make malted milkshakes when we got home at 4. And I forgot the mushrooms for the pizza, oh well, it was still good.

I am wearing...pj pants with a flamingo green and pink print and a long sleeve pink pullover.

Pondering...

had my yearly exam yesterday (left work at noon) ...I am down 56 lbs. However, I will have to see a specialist for my arthritis. This cold snap has flared up the nasty bugger of arthritis.

I have not taken photos...I bought 4 pairs of new shoes; 2 mules/sandals and 2 dressier low heel shoes, pair of cream color slacks.

I came home yesterday afternoon to a nice surprise. My husband moved his clothes out of the master walk in closet and made me a nice dressing area. He might have made a comment about someone having too many shoes and clothes. LOL. Of course, I color coded everything---I tweaked it a bit from what he made. It was a very nice gesture he had done. He might had made a comment also that he was tired of hearing me grumbling I couldn't find anything---oops. grin.

I am pleasantly surprised at my Fitbit apparently; I am doing 10,000 steps on a daily basis.

Going tomorrow for a much-needed haircut. I will not be going back to the same girl I had been seeing--two months ago she had cut my hair uneven---and I was not very happy.

So, I was appointed to Senior Clerk which comes with a nice raise. I also will be training two new people who are replacing a person who left and my old position.

Tuesday Meme

Joining in with the Tuesday Meme from Annie...pre posting this on a Sunday for Tuesday.

Howdy Partners... welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

Today let's talk about the West.

1. Got some favorite Cowboy or western movies or TV shows you have liked?

Sure-Bonanza (the shows from previous years), Last American Cowboy and now

2.  Ever been to a rodeo or horse show of any kind?

Yep. Love them. Ocala is known as the horse capitol of the world and pretty much everywhere you go there is a horse statue. The World Equestrian Center always has something going on. I know, it's not the same as cowboying on a ranch.

3. Can you ride a horse, or would you like to try?

Yes and no thanks. I am afraid my height fearness is a problem, LOL.

4.  How would a vacation on a dude ranch suit you?

Been there, done that, worked one...my husband was raised on a thoroughbred farm, no thanks...can't I just be a rich owner and not do any work, LOL.

Have a great day!

Another week...Another Simple Womans Daybook

Another week...another not blogging, corresponding etc. It was a fast 4-day week at work. This week, I am by myself as folks are on vacation--which means, fun fun fun, NOT.

Outside my window...bright sunny and 42*. No worries it will be back to 75* or so today.

I am thinking...I really need to get going this morning. So much to do.

I am thankful for...for so many things:

relatively good health

friends

a house

a full pantry etc.

etc. etc. etc.

On my mind...1.need to get my closet sorted out and things put away properly

yeah slob. Actually, my clothes span the whole walk-in closet.

2. My Christmas cards are still sitting here...so hubby goes, "Maybe save them for next year and send out Valentine's card."--which resulted in a Eureka moment. AH.

*** I want to offer apologies for not sending out the cards...I have no excuses, just plum laziness.

From the kitchen...my husband is going to grill out today, steak and potatoes.

I am wearing...still pj's.

I am going...nowhere today.

I am hoping...to get in a nap today, grin.

Around the house...been organizing, and hubby has put up the porch and been working on the finishing touches.

He still has to finish the bottom part-the balusters, is that what it's called? I don't. know. Next week we will be getting the new front door.

On my favorite things...warmth. Ask me come like March-April when the humidity starts up again. LOL

My thought...

Above is today Bible lesson. Have a beautiful day friend's. I will catch up later.

Tuesday Meme

Joining in with the Tuesday Meme--hey by the time you read this I will be back at work.

January is named for Janus the two-faced god who looked into the past and future. Some believe he was Noah who may have been worshipped by his progeny. He certainly looked into the pre flood world and the new world.  The Anglo Saxons called this month Wulfsmoanth.  Let's talk about January.

1.  January 1, 1892, Ellis Island opened its doors.  Did any of your relations enter the United States through Ellis Island?

My paternal grandparents came the way of California, and the maternal side came through Ellis Island.

If not, do you know your family's history?

Yes, my father's side came from Yugoslavia and my mother's Germany.

2. January's birth stone is garnet, and the flower is the carnation. Do you have favorite gemstones or flowers?

Since I am a March baby, I love Aquamarines and I love all flowers. But I much prefer gladioli.

3. January 6 is Epiphany. Many take that day as the final day of the Christmas celebration and take down their decor. What about you?

So, we had a minor disagreement yesterday. He told me after breakfast we would start taking stuff down etc...so off I go to shower etc. to get the day started. I came back and he is outside working on the porch. I about lost it because I knew he would get busy doing that and it would slip his mind...needless to say, we were
finished by 8 pm last night and rearranged the living room by yesterday-Monday afternoon. AND I am not as young as I use to be, just saying.

4. There is some evidence that January can set the tone for your entire year. What do you think of this? Do you make resolutions, etc.?

No resolutions, but I do have a word and I work pretty hard in keeping to that. I am known though to slip up a time or two, grin. I am trying really hard to not get aggravated with the young girl at work.

Monday, January 2, 2023

Yeahhhhh not liking it...

Yeahhhhhhh not liking it. We spent until 8pm last night cleaning up/ putting up Christmas stuff.

Taken early this morning BEFORE hubby decided to rearrange.

Below after rearranging.

He did not like the couch between the dining and living room. Now his chair sticks out-and I told him so. Oh, and our big tv went, so we have to use the small one and eventually we get another big one and it will be on the wall. ANYWAYS-that is what we have been doing---me more arguing. Probably because these last 4 days have NOT been relaxing because he likes to go here and there and everywhere.

Yeah, back to the grindstone tomorrow. sigh.

Happy New Year!

Wishing all of you a Happy New Year.

We will be taking the tree down today, cleaning up the house, reorganizing (I'll be doing that especially the kitchen), and making Lasagna. Nope, did not make it yesterday as hubby wanted chicken wings and since Publix had it on sale, that is what he got. I was also thinking yesterday about my 2022 Verse:

That def. was the case. Funny how words pick us. This year between friends and prayer the word once again picked me:

We shall see what the new year brings. I am trying really hard to overcome depression and grief (which I think run together, just saying). Until next time...
