One Word (or maybe some more words)

 One word--ok probably a few...

Exhaustion. With 2 men still down and out with the virus (10 days and counting)...I am tired, exhausted, ill tempered and actually have to go in on my day off today. No end in site. I will also mention the insanity of this current administration and the near $3.2 TRILLION budget. Do you know what is in it? Why, thank you, I do...I'll leave you with this disturbing knowledge; SEC. 21004.Adjustment of Civil Penalties (page 168). The bottom line is they will require every single AMERICAN working to get the vaccine or they will force bankruptcy on companies---and there are no exemptions. So very unAmerican. ANYWAYS...I haven't had time to truly email or respond and even visit blogs. My own family is complaining about not seeing me...

The temps remain steady during the day between 60-70 with little humidity and the temps at night fall to 40-45. Nice beautiful days and evenings here. It actually looks like it wants to rain today and the wind is whipping up.

 Late Sunday Stealing due to working until 1 and then I came home and promptly took a 4 hour nap, yep. Read that right.

I couldn't sleep (and to get up at 5 for work). I just laid there. I was over tired.

Our German Shepherd. Who is species confused and thinks he is a cat. LOL

oh yes, everything...old age--lol. I accidently hit my right wrist on our sleigh bed the other night ---its not broken, but hubby thinks I ought to get it looked at. He said it looks like I bruised the bone...yeah...so prob. tomorrow I will go in and have it looked at. It hurts 24/7.

Saturday 9: Cardigan

The company I work for has a store and I just bought a Cardigan. We can wear sweaters, jackets etc. as long as they are black or gray/company approved. I have been wearing a black jacket and decided to get a less bulky item to wear. I also bought a company ball cap-to which we can wear as well even while on the 'floor'. 

1) When she's feeling low, Taylor Swift compares herself to an old cardigan, forgotten under the bed. Do you store anything under your bed? Or do you try to keep that area clear (except for dust bunnies)?

There are few things under there such as sweater boxes.

Nope...no new phone. I do have a smartphone, but since the company I work supplies phones while at work, I really don't need one.

What if...sometimes. What if I did things differently etc. That sort of thing.

Yes, but really haven't watched any in a long time.

When she was 12, Taylor admitted to her mother that she really wasn't that into it and wished she could spend more time on her music. Her mother was supportive. One thing I can not stress enough is this; Don't do drugs, limit how much you drink, don't get involved with unsavory characters etc. But, I have to say the Boy Wonder has done pretty well in that department. As a parent, sometimes you just have to sit back and let them make mistakes, no matter how much you want to take those reigns and just yank them. But, we have always agreed to be honest with him and with each other. We don't hide anything etc. He has respect for us and vice versa, so really no topic is off etc. We have never had issues with flipping off of the mouth or disrespect etc. Prob. because he was raised with a dad, and in a Christian home. 

7) She enjoys good, old-fashioned mysteries, especially those by Agatha Christie. Are you currently reading a book?

Nope

 Oops sorry y'all...I have been so bad in not responding here or in email. Why?

I was called in on my day off on Wednesday. We are 3 men down. 3! All in quarantine;

--one has a daughter that tested positive at school (later negative but still require to be out for 14 days)

-- 2 are awaiting test results

3 men down, which only leaves 2 of us and 1 part timer who already works a fulltime job. However, with that said, it is hazard pay with time and half. I am already over the 40 hr work week. It has been miserable to say the least. I know my boss is running raggard/haggard and kept thanking us 2 and honestly, he almost made me cry (me, of all people, cry!) because he knows how difficult it is. We are doing the best we can do in such dire circumstances, someone has to be in the grocery warehouse from 8 am to 8pm, period. We are trying to cover that and our other responsibilities. Yesterday was plum miserable;  I was working all 3 jobs (Bulk, Natures and Warehouse). He is trying to give me the day off today (and I am surprised he hasn't called yet--although I did tell him if he wanted me to come in, it would have to be after 3 or 4, as I have a hair appointment today). ANYWAYS...I am going to try to make it over to Fitzpatrick's today.

Falling Thru the Hodgepodge

 Thank you for the kind words yesterday...sometimes I do get a little personal. I should of mentioned that I passed a blood clot, it wasn't a good time. Especially when going into surgery and I had a asthma attack. Yeah, never mind...it also took a long time to wake up...yeah never mind. We won't mention the infection afterwards or the fact I had a 10 pound unknown tumor...yeah never mind. ANYWAYS...here we are on on a fine Wednesday morning, another day the good Lord has made.

1. It's fall y'all! Officially that is and in the northern hemisphere only, so if you're visiting from down under happy spring! Does it feel like fall where you live?

When I got up at 5 am this morning, it was very humid. Now, at nearly 9 am, not so much. We are expecting rain today. 

Does it look like fall aka are the leaves beginning to change?

About Thanksgiving
1. What is your favorite Thanksgiving show/animated show?

It use to be the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I am afraid, I was the only one who shared that thought.

2.   What is there about Thanksgiving you like the best?

So, let me just keep it real...and offer up an explanation instead. I think honestly, its all about family, not just the food. But family.

I can't say it's just one thing...but 3 years ago, I was home 2-3 days prior to Thanksgiving from having to spend 7 days in the hospital, recovering from my emergency hysterectomy and my husband and son did all the cooking and cleaning up. I am sure it/the food was good, I wasn't feeling well and couldn't eat, it sure was emotional on all fronts--my husband had told family to please not come over etc. and that was a mess as well. They (husband and son) sure worked hard to make it special and I sort of ruined it by not eating (well, I felt that way, but they assured me I did not ruin anything). I just wasn't feeling well enough...they even put up the Christmas tree and decorated the house during the day, they even put my chair by the dining room table (I had to sleep sitting up) and moved the chair around for me to see the Christmas decorating)...Anyways, its always time for family and that is what makes Thanksgiving special. I will say that Thanksgiving was special, although I didn't participate... I almost didn't make it out of the hospital alive. I better leave it at that...

P.S. I will never take cooking and baking for granted again.

4. If you have an all holiday music radio station when do you start listening to it?

We have a local station that plays 28 days of Christmas music--I think its like 96. (point) something. I love it...it drives the husband and son nuts, LOL because I refuse to change the channel. It usually starts like the day after Thanksgiving. My alarm clock is set to it, grin.

The Weather...nice and crisp. The humidity finally broke yesterday evening. It's currently 53* and sunny.

Listening...to nothing actually. Oh wait, I hear the landlady upstairs walking around stomping around, grin. Since her heart attack she is back to rare form now. She said, "I'm not going to die!" Ok then...Oh, the guys are up and about now. They are discussing todays news.

Reading...was reading the news. Going to hell in a hand basket comes to mind.

I'm in Constant Prayer...for this country. The adage, "Rules for thee and not for me" come to mind. See above.

I'm Thankful...for each day I get to wake up and start a new day.

In the Kitchen...nothing yet. Dinner is being discussed, its more:

Pondering...1.yesterday. While at our departments time clock, my bosses assistant saw me and he proceeded to tell me I would be closing by myself, one of the guys called in ((mind panic set in and I am pretty sure he saw it on my face)). I did NOT finish doing the department closing procedures. The store was so busy even at 8 pm. I was busy/overwhelmed from the time I walked in at 11:30 to 8. Management was made aware and I was told to do the best I could under these circumstances. To which I did. It's impossible for one person to do everything, period. OH and I learned how to Bale the boxes-- I was so frustrated and ended up calling Dave from Produce to come down. Nice guy and he was patient. He walked me thru it. He said and I repeat, "What, you were never shown? (nope) What kind of just throwing the baby in the bathwater stuff is this?" (yep) ---it took me (us) nearly 45 min. of forcing myself to do so ((Dave from Produce kept on reassuring me that I can do it, I was pretty doubtful)). It was all good, now I know. Unfort. now they know too that I can do it. ((grin))

2. I was also told the other guy in Bulk will be out for 14 days; his daughter tested positive for Covid from school, but the dr.'s test from the dr. said negative. So, they are forcing all to quarantine for 14 days. SO, the schedule might change for me, just a little. That area looked awful yesterday (no one to work it). BUT since I wasn't scheduled to work it, I had to let it be. I have 3 different schedules; Bulk, Natures and Grocery Warehouse. I was scheduled for Grocery yesterday.

3. My husband, "I will keep saying this, you're wasting your education." To which I said, "Oh really? How many women/girls do you know who can do the job I do? Not many." It def. has made me stronger physically and perhaps a bit more street smart. If that makes any sense. ---on that note, I am fully aware of how my husband feels about me doing a "man's" job. I have also dropped a quite bit of weight. 

I'm celebrating...the return of cooler weather later this week. Suppose to be only in the 60's by Wednesday. I will be so happy to have the downhill spiral of temps. I have had enough of summer and the high humidity we have been having.

No Work...today. Day off. Actually its a nice week; Off Mon. Wed. and Friday. But Tues. and Thurs and Saturday are long days. Still 32 hours. Which seems longer than 32 hours. I have a feeling my schedule will be tweaked a bit.

With that said, Have a beautiful day. Not much is planned, I do have to go too my employer at some point today to get groceries. I did NOT feel like standing in lines last night. I wanted outta' there. LOL

Day Tripping Sunday Salon

 Getting ready to go too work soon. Thank you all for the kind comments...I am falling behind.

Time: 9:20 am

Scene: 59* partly sunny. I am so happy to read it will all go downhill come Wednesday; temps will drop to the 60's during the day. Yesterday was very warm and humid.

Drinking: Small cup of orange juice (already had coffee).

Listening to: Believe it or not, the ac's have kicked on. Must be humid in the house.

Thinking about: Our little day trip yesterday, which was my day off.

We went to Penn Yan (a short 45-50 min. drive) to the Arts Festival. Not much to see there, I guess the economy is having trouble coming back. They didn't have many artists etc. and its worth noting they didn't have it last year due to the plandemic. So, we made our way thru the Keuka Outlet (walking trails/bridges thru Penn Yan).

Anyways, Penn Yan is on the Northern End of my beloved Keuka Lake and I believe is interconnected to the Erie Canal. The Boy Wonder went with us and while walking thru the canals/walkways he announced, "I think I would like to live here. Wouldn't you , Mama?" I think all three of us agreed we could. Plenty of farmlands, plenty of shopping etc. Who knows what the future holds. Yates County is more affluent with jobs then we are here in Steuben County. It def.. is more of a laid back lifestyle, but still bustling with more to do sort of thing.

Keuka Lake/ Champlain Beach

Before I mention heading back down to Keuka Lake. We made our way to the Windmill (sorry forgot to take photos) and then had lunch at the Amish and Mennonite Oak Hill/Oak Leaf.  

We spent a few minutes at Champlain Beach. It was time for me to take my quarterly photos. ((wink)) -A little taste of fall. Although it was very humid yesterday.

There was a sail boat parked at the end of the boat house. Usually, it's just the boathouse. My husband is like, "Why do you continually take photos of the same spot?" Because you just never know...such as below, was taken last September around the same time/date:

Just so ever subtle changes. Which is why I love NY. I just don't like the politics.

Discussing: Since we all can agree on Penn Yan, and since we happen to find ourselves up there a lot, maybe that is where we are suppose to be? Who knows. We said we wouldn't make decisions until after the holidays and we have been keeping our eyes and ears open...the situation in the USA isn't really getting any better, is it? The current occupier in chief of the WH and his minions have def. made a mess of things. Same to our new governor. I am still pushing to move out of NY. Just saying.

What's on Tap? Working today 11:30-8. It's a long day. Back to reality.

Late Hodgepodge

 Running late with the Hodgepodge today. Got off of work at 2 and had to wait out the monsoonal rain/thunderstorm. Yikes, the parking lot was flooded with ankle deep water. Anyways...

1. How would you define 'old'? At what age is someone old? 

Old is different for everyone. I like to add, age is just a number. For instance, our landlady is 85 and gets around like she is 20. My mother in law on the other hand is 77 and acts like she is a  million. I believe its all mental to tell you the truth. No one lives forever, we all age and  get old...it just depends on ones attitude.

2. A place you've been that's old? Tell us something about your visit there. 

A place? Our old house over in Hudson. It was built during the Rev. War. Most of the houses here are that old or before 1900. We shared our house with a ghost named Arthur who would walk up and down the stairs all day and all night long. No lie. He was the original innkeeper of the Stage Coach stop, to which our house was.

3. Something you miss about the 'good old days'? When were they anyway? 

You know...I miss the simple days off no social media. Where one would wait for days on end for snail mail. Now, everything is instant.

4. In what way are you a 'chip off the old block'? Or if you'd rather, in what way is your child a 'chip off the old block'? 

My dad tells everyone he didn't raise no sissy. I am strong minded, strong headed and stubborn. My son, is a little of both; he is very kind, but he sure can stand on his own. I don't know if that answers anything.

5. Old fashioned, Old Testament, old timer, same old same old, old glory, good old boy, old wives tale...choose an 'old' phrase that relates to something in your life or the wider world currently and explain.

 Old Glory: I am a diehard Patriot and do not tolerate traitors of any kind. I fully support the flag, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and the rule of law. I have no tolerance for those who don't/can't (here comes the hate from some).

Old Fashioned: I am a bit old fashioned. I like my doors opened, my chair pulled out and some other things. Actually, not so much old fashioned but traditionalist.

 Well, folks I am back to work. Its not a bad rest of the week. So, how about joining in with the Tuesday Meme that was started by Toni.

1. What makes a house a home?

Love. Hands down. If you don't have love, then there is nothing. I would also say;

Laughter/Happiness

2. How do you keep your house neat, tidy and clean? Do you find it difficult?

Sometimes its difficult. But since I am working now, my husband and son carry the brunt of the housecleaning. I do know they use Mrs. Meyers (I have allergies, so they are careful on what they use). Dusting has sort of taken a back seat. Usually a deep cleaning is done twice a year; walls, windows, carpets. Since we have a big German Shepherd, my husband vacuums everyday. The bathroom once a week. Once a week, magazines and newspapers get culled/bagged up.

3. Are plants important in your home.. or collections.. or wall art?  Is there a theme you like to create?

I like houseplants...but don't have any live ones in the house. I do have collections; one room has sailboats/ocean/lake them, one room has green depression glass, one room has signs of farm theme, one room has my mothers WillieRaye and Hummel figurines. We are just simple folks, nothing fancy. I am lucky to have my mothers gift or knowing where things go. AND that never changes when we move-those collections stay in the places. SOMETIMES those collections get moved or changed ever so lightly. I also have that gift when I walk into a room, I know when something isn't quite right. I can thank my grandfather for that one. He taught me how to "read" a room.

4.What is a typical day/evening like in your home?

Well, since I usually don't get home until 4:30 or so/sometimes 8pm, I will tell you the direct order what happens;

Greet husband and son

Clothes come off, Makeup comes off, Shower then pj's on.

Laundry (since I have allergies, my clothes get washed sep.)

Eat dinner by 6 (if I am home by then)

Rest/relax visit with husband and son

Usually in bed by 8 pm.

IF I am working until 8- then its usually greet husband and son

Clothes come off, Makeup comes off, Shower, pj's, Laundry and a light snack, directly off to bed. Usually I have to be back early in the morning.

Monday Musing

 Monday Musing...Not much going on here. I am off from work today.

Decided to decorate the front porch on Saturday. The Mums are looking pretty well considering the very warm days we have been having. Been watering them twice a day thanks to the weather.

I will be so happy to see the election signs gone. We were very surprised to see our landlady put them up. Usually she is anti political or is it 'A' Political. I will tell you, we will not be voting for the current mayor (who is Republican in name only). My husband has decided to be a smart rear end and write in Daffy Duck as he feels its a clown show anyways.

The 'hood is looking tired and worn. Time to really make some decisions. We have decided to hold off until January (after the holidays). The guy across the street, is cooking meth, yep. The old folks are dying off, renters moving in etc. And the startling realization we are not getting any younger is a factor. I am personally feeling the need the pull to get out of city/town living and get back to the a farm where life is seemingly simpler.

Actually, its ok to let things go anytime of the year, jmo. Have a beautiful Monday my friends.

Sunday Salon

 Since I am writing this Saturday afternoon, it really is a Saturday Salon...but here we are. Plus, by the time you read this, I will be off to work.

Time/Weather/Scene: 73* and sunny at 2 pm on a Saturday afternoon. It is quite lovely out.

Drinking: A Pepsi

Sunday's Plan: Work 9-1. Short day.

Listening to: Fl. Gator football game is on. Later this afternoon it will Alabama.

Reading: Well...nothing in particular. I did read a news article about Campus Reform at the Univ. of Fl. and the asinine students there and the indoctrination at that esteemed school. To which, I am ashamed to be affiliated with.

Pondering: So, I will admit that at times I am a slob.

Between keeping up with mil's accounts and our own...my desk is always a mess.

Anyways, found some time to file stuff away and cleaned up the area. I can't promise anyone that it will stay somewhat clean. We have been here in this particular house for 9 years now and we are outgrowing it. There is stuff everywhere now...and frankly, I need more space and a bigger kitchen...I'm thinking the Walton House
