Last Sunday in August

Good morning, hope this post finds each of you well. It's the last Sunday in August.

On that thought, where has the month of August gone? Knocking on September already.

One last nod to summer...I guess hubby is going to pack the summer stuff up, although technically it's still summer and get the fall stuff out. Bye bye Bumble Bee.

Time and Weather...8:15 am and 77* the humidity is at 98% already. Actually, truth be told, I don't think it cooled down at all last night.

Talk around here...hubby goes, "So, we need to start planning for the holidays." (me--we??) --here is my thought, yes, we are heading into September, but sorry, can't wrap my head around any holiday stuff due to it still being summer here and it being a billion degrees. Just saying.

What bought this on? That man has wayyyyyyyyyy to much free time on his hands😄. He watches way too much YouTube getting ideas for Halloween.

Mentioned again...he said something about me retiring at 72. SAY WHAT? 72? No, try 67. 72? 7 YEARS NOT 72!!!! You got to be kidding me. Mentioned again, selling the house and moving into apartment/downsizing. The way things are going; taxes, property taxes etc... everything is just expensive. I might have to work until I die...that my friends, is a scary thought. He has been activity looking at other counties etc. Again, he has way too much time on his hands (y'all laughing now? lol).

Doing...have to go get gas for my truck for the week and probably swing by the store. I did lounge in the pool for about an hour yesterday--hubby was hollering at me about sunscreen and turning red. I did put on sunscreen, but still briefly turn red and then it turns a deep shade of tan. With all this rain, the pool has cooled down to 83*. It was a bit cool. Hence why I didn't stay in long.

Watched...did caught up on my shows yesterday; Crashers, All in Main Cabin Masters, and some other shows.

Making me laugh...from where we lived in NY. We were watching something yesterday on YouTube and both of us have agreed, we are d-o-n-e with that lifestyle. And will remain in Florida. Even if the humidity is way too much. I do miss the seasons, but honestly, I am/we are just done with that all that and that part of our lives. Neither of us miss the weather--but we do miss the $500 rent we had. We pay $1,200 month for mortgage, $800 quarterly for house insurance, $2,100 for property taxes...yeah, it's just getting too much.

Have a great day all!!!

Random Saturday Post...

Good morning. Just a Random Saturday Post which includes 'stuff' from the internet.

Unfortunately, due to the intense thunderstorms we have
been having, I have been unable to wear flip flops, sigh.

Time/Weather...9 am and its 77* with a 70% chance of rain/thunderstorms today-after 1 pm and the real feel is 92*. Florida is in its rainy season. Hey, there is a little storm out in the Caribbean, hmm...will keep an eye on that.

Watching...nothing in particular. I did watch Lottery Dream Home, and one of my YouTube shows.

Trying to...although the temps are still hot and humid, I am trying to get the fall feeling going, which includes the blog. I just can't get my head wrapped around the idea that this is the last weekend in August. sigh.

Doing...absolutely nothing today--gas in my truck can wait until tomorrow. I wanted to try to get in the pool this morning. Hubby wants Nachos yet again for dinner.  So, that is the plan, nothing...and that is ok.

**up the road, at the Florida Horse park, there is a big Rock the Country concert going on, so traffic is a big issue out here in God's country aka SW Marion County.

Random Stuff from the internet:

You get a spur-of-the-moment invitation to a meal with your best friend. Could you go wearing what you have on right now? Since its only 9 am, I am wearing swim shorts and my swim tank, so no--although if you go to Silver Springs or the short drive to Crystal River, folks wear their bathing suits out and about. You do see a lot of that even in town, folks who stop at Walmart etc. to get their supplies for kayaking/ day in the springs or the Gulf of America etc. I will say, here in our county, most folks do wear shorts and t shirts. It's just a combination of the heat and humidity that causes us to just be casual. If someone asked us to meet up, probably would be capris and a nice blouse, but again, shorts and t shirts are the norm around here. Sorry, folks, it's just to miserable hot.

***and since I do have to dress up during the week, I prefer casual.

Gertrude Temple, Shirley's mother, was her daughter's on-set hairstylist, creating the famous "curly top" with pin curls. What's your hair care regimen? Wash, condition, leave in conditioner, mousse, curling iron, hairspray. Yeah, I'm high maintenance. The humidity plays a big part on how the hair day goes.

Share 4 Somethings from August:

I love...the afternoon/evening showers we have been getting. Although, they are pretty intense, but nonetheless, yay! We're getting rain, still in a drought, but yay!

I am making space for...well, not yet...because I am just too lazy, but I did start cleaning up my desk-and shredding stuff-- area to get moved over someplace else. Something is stopping me...yet again, the Education Dept. continues to grow and change sometimes at a snail pace and sometimes at a pace one cannot comprehend (think spinning head).

I am carrying forward...I am really trying to carry a better attitude...truly I am. Hence why I am taking time off next week to better myself --I mean the attitude. 😄

Just one photo from the week...
Afternoon storms rolling in. I beat one storm that rolled in on my way home the other day. A typical Florida sky in August.

All in all, this week went by super-fast. I am so looking forward to only working 3 days next week, however, that could change if something develops in the Gulf. Because since I am considered "essential" all leave would be cancelled.

Have a great day all.

Hodgepodge on a Friday Evening...

Good evening. Apologies, have not felt like posting all week, let's just chock it up to l-a-z-y-n-e-s-s. How about the Hodgepodge on a Friday evening?

1. How do you feel about the transition from lazy summer days to a busier fall routine? Hmm...honestly, since I work a full-time job, there really is no difference to me. It is all the same to me-I hit the ground running at 3 am when I get up and then hit the hay at or by 7 pm during the week.

2. Your favorite cookie? Oatmeal Raisin or Snickerdoodle. Love then both equally. My mom, she makes the best Oatmeal, I don't know what it is or what she puts in them to make them so special, but they are.

3. What's something you've learned from a culture different than your own? Recipes

4. Food critic, film critic, book critic, art critic...which hat would you most like to wear? Tell us why.  Hmm...art or book critic, that seems like a fun job to have.

5. What's a small, random thing from your childhood that you still remember clearly? Hmm...many memories...let's see...the time my brothers pushed me out of the 'boys only' treehouse that sat 20 feet in the air and landed on my mom's rose bushes. Many years later, unknown to all, those headaches were a concussion. Yeah, that wasn't found until years later when I was a young adult. No, my parents never took me the dr. "I got what deserved because I knew better than to go into my brothers treehouse." is what was told to me.

6. Insert your own random thought random thoughts here. 😛

I am taking next Thursday-Monday (Labor Day weekend) off--weather permitting, we will be going to the beach. I have way too many Annual Hours on the books...so, what better time, right?

Also, the new teacher was supposed to start today and get acquainted...well, she didn't. I suppose I will get an explanation on Monday when the boss gets back. No idea when I will start the new position/job...more on that description later, because it looks like I will stay teaching. Thanks to an abrupt up and quit 'retirement' of said person. I also said goodbye today to one of the best coworkers, Mr. H. he is an Aussie, he actually took retirement-2 kids in Univ. (one at Florida State and the other at the Univ. of Fl) and he is ready to just have an easier slower life. He and I shared many common interests such as the beach, he is a surfer. He became a citizen 20 yrs ago and just had his 65th birthday. What an amazing person. I am going to miss him. He is used to bring me Aussie cookies (Tim Tams). Yes, I know he got them from Publix...but what is better than getting them from a real Aussie? 😄

The weather...wow have we had massive awesome storms each afternoon. I actually let my class go a 1/2 hour early today. See, once it starts to thunder and lightning, there is no movement on prison grounds until said weather clears. The sky was a very weird color, and I told the students/inmates to go. Thankfully, I did because the weather got really bad.

...and if there are any typos of any kind, just ignore them...I am tired.

Tuesday 4...

Good morning. Joining in with the Tuesday 4. We have had some monster storms rolling in these past few evenings.

Could we discuss it please?

1.Do rainy days and/or Mondays really get you down? If so, why?

Rainy days--nope. Because Florida is the Sunshine State, any rain we get is welcomed. Although, it does not cool the atmosphere down, lol and we have been getting some doozies of thunderstorms, wow.

Mondays--sigh...I have to go back to work...so, yeah, it gets me down because I deal with crazies. Just keeping it real.

2. Does thunder and lightning frighten you at all? Nope...well...not so much frightening, but it does cause some "Oh!" The thunder and lightning here are plain weird and at times awesome.

How about your dog or cat and what do you do to help them out? Ugh...we have a big German Shepherd who has big ears and the sound just drives her mad. We do have a vest we put on her, and she just sits close to us.

3. If you are at home on a dark, rainy day what do you do with your time? Some find it a good day to cuddle up with a cuppa and read or watch TV.. what is your preference? I like to watch tv and sometimes read a book and sometimes take a nap I mean doze. LOL

4.Ever been caught in a downpour or has rain ever ruined your plans?

Yes, on downpours, here in Florida between say June-Oct. downpours can happen at any time. I have since learned to check the weather every single morning and be prepared because one certainty cannot wear flip flips if it's going to rain, we do have puddling and heavy rain that cause sudden flooding here. BTW, just because the weather state 3% chance, it really means 100%. Just saying.

Ruin plans...well, sometimes...especially if one wants to get in the pool or head to the beach...again, from June-Oct. be prepared.

Bonus question: Why do Mondays seem to be so unpopular with so many? WHY? Because the majority of us have to go back to work, that's why. The majority of us are not wealthy or retired enough and simply cannot afford to not work...sigh. That is why Monday's get a bad rap.

Have a great day all.

Sunday Chat...

Good morning, it's hard to believe the month of August is almost over and still no hurricanes, which I find a little odd. Plenty of severe thunderstorms in the late after and into the evening though.

Weather...another humid day. What else is new? We had some severe storms roll through yesterday between 3-10 pm. Quite a few news reports of downed trees and damages. At 6:40 am 75* with showers in the vicinity.

Reading...reports of the rising cost of everything. Why is ground beef near $10 a pound? etc. etc. etc. various answers according to Google...and I wonder how much is true and who is truly to blame? Is this designed to get people not to eat meat? Just different thoughts on all this.

Ok...why the higher utilities including cable? Why the higher insurance (health, house, car), taxes? Yada yada yada...the list goes on.

**when you ask a search engine, sometimes it goes around the world and refused to give you an answer. I wonder if some of those AI minions sit on a hamster wheel? hmm...

Watched...After getting home yesterday and due to the crazy weather...got caught up on all my YouTube shows:

Tea & Bratwurst & Kirsten and Joerg (same couple, two different shows)
Beth and George
The Cotswolds
Chloe and sometimes Ludvig
The Scottish Fairy
Living Tiny

Yesterday...on a thought, Ocala really needs to stop growing. I would love to put out a sign somewhere "Ocala is closed." Our main road County Road 66 is closed for a year due to all the new developments and a bridge repair, so now, one must drive all over God's country to get anywhere...sigh...ANYWAYS, we stopped at my favorite consignment store where I found numerous blouses, however, I only came home with one:

$7 for a Coral Bay button down blouse. I love that brand and always look for Coral Bay or Caribbean Joe. And for the record, I have totally embraced the Florida lifestyle...floral bright prints. Actually, what is the Florida lifestyle? Hmm...😅

Then we went to Walmart because hubby forgot my list the other day when he went to the store...so, yeah...anyways, all that talk about the fall stuff being out and look what hops in my cart? Yeah, I love Werther's soft caramels and also, Caramel Apple soft soap. It was my turn to buy soap for the bathroom that three of us women share at work. Work provides that Lye soap and its nasty. Gosh, all that balking talk I did about the fall stuff and what do I do? Yeah...sucker. 😉

Feeling...folks, I am done with summer--well the humidity.

Enjoying...NOT the humidity, that is for sure. I think this is the only place in the world that one can take a shower, get dressed for the day and then walk outside and wham...yeah.

Ok, I am done now...thanks for reading.

Saturday Nine

Good morning. Another scorcher of a day. Borrowing from Pam over at Cottage Granny...

How in the world did she get that photo of me, is funny. LOLOLOL

How about the Saturday 9?

people, it's a billion degrees knock it off with the Pumpkin fall stuff. 😒

1) Shoo Fly Pie got its name from Shoo Fly the Boxing Mule. After the Civil War, the mule who could box was such a popular circus attraction that a molasses manufacturer started featuring him on their packaging. Since molasses is the key ingredient of this pie recipe, homemakers just began referring to it as "shoo fly pie." If we looked, would we find molasses in your kitchen?  Nope, there is no Molasses in our pantry. I do have real Maple syrup from Vermont though.

2) Apple pan dowdy is another uniquely American recipe from the 19th century. It's like apple pie, except it only has a top crust, which is broken up. Apples are a good source of fiber, Vitamin C, and antioxidants. Do you consider nutrition when choosing a dessert? Umm...no Or are you just all about how it tastes?  Umm...the taste, duh.

3) The lyrics describe these two desserts as the ultimate comfort foods, able to make "the sun come out when the heavens are cloudy." Do you find that the foods you crave change with your mood?  I certainty do no not want a Pumpkin whatever in August. NOPE. They/the food cravings change with the seasons, more than my mood.  Well, ok, sometimes the mood. It's either/ or.

4) Singer June Christy pleads with her mama to whip up this "wonderful stuff." Did your mother have a dish you often requested?  My mom was/is a great cook. Her meatloaf, Sarma and stuffed peppers were the best.

5) June was born in Springfield, Illinois' capital. Have you been to your state's capital city?  I have driven through Tallahassee which is about 3 hours to the northwest of us. I have not "visited". I'm not a Seminole fan, so there. 😄

6) June spent years singing with Stan Kenton's Orchestra. At one point, she gave 38 performances in 35 towns in 35 days. That's a busy schedule! Do you thrive on activity? Or do you find yourself rejuvenated by quiet time?  I enjoy being am active during the week and prefer a more leisurely weekend or as I prefer to say, 48-hour furlough. I would like some quiet time which is why I wake up early, but this morning, I am not getting it. Sorry, folks...just keeping it real. It went straight into solving the world problems without coffee first.

7) In 1946, when this record was popular, bikinis were first seen in Paris fashion shows. How often have you worn your swimsuit this summer? On the weekends...not once during this week due to the afternoon storms. AND I do use a 70 sunscreen.

8) Also in 1946, Elias Tupper invented Tupperware, a plastic container with an airtight top that's great for preserving leftovers. Are there any leftovers in your refrigerator right now? Yes, and for the record, I am the only one who eats leftovers.

9) Random question: Is there a day of the week that goes by faster than the others? Usually the days fly by, but for some odd reason this past week seemed like it was slower than molasses and I am so over it.

I know I am this morning...he is wanting to get up and going to the store already and solve the world problems...and I am still trying to sip my coffee and get the cobwebs out. Just keeping it real---pssssssss....Darlene, don't put that in snail mail.😄

Have a great day!

Late Friday...Chat

A good Friday evening to you all. For some odd unknown reason, I did not post all week...weird. Not much to report on anyways. I did have a speech to make today at an event at work, and it went well. Standing ovation actually. ((shrugging))

Weather...at 8:25 pm it's 86* and real feel is 94*.

Watching...waiting for Lottery Dream Home at 9 on HGTV, Listening to Jesse Waters on Fox.

Ate...Red Baron pizza that hubby had put in the outdoor pizza oven.

Thinking...am I going to make it to 9 pm, lol

Also, our luncheon with another department was today...and only 3 folks from Classification showed up (out of the 30)...extremely disappointing. I actually had to leave the luncheon and go speak at that event. --jealously is an ugly word...I worked hard for that degree, work hard for this job...and earn every bit of what I make and that upsets people. So, it got back to us (here in the Education Department how we make so much more than they do). Yeah, another day on that topic.

Feeling...tired and hot. It (the weather) is just miserable. Hubby just came in from the pool, I simply just didn't feel like it.

Enjoying...will be...a 48-hour furlough from work, LOL.

Thankful...for so many things.  I was thinking while making my speech today, how thankful I am for my freedom and common sense. And for the fact, the good Lord saw fit to give me a set of parents who were tough.

Making me smile...

I actually have a bag of Dark Chocolate M&M's in the fridge. Hmm...might have to break those open.

Wishing you all a great evening.

Never Ever Sunday Chat...

Good morning. Wait, its Sunday, right?

Sunday Chat

Never ever go... to Walmart or Home Depot after 1pm on a Saturday. NEVER EVER. Lesson learned. I decided to actually get in the pool early and didn't get out until like 11 am... hence why we were "late" getting to where we needed to go. NEVER EVER go anywhere after 1 pm. I was so 'mentally ill' in Walmart. How can one be standing in an aisle all by herself (ok hubby too) and all of sudden, we are elbow to elbow? I simply don't get it. After being hit twice by shopping carts and just plain rudeness, I told hubby I had to get out of there. Geesh...so not funny (I am sure you are laughing).😄

Watched...had planned on getting back into the pool, but the skies had turned a dark gray. It did not rain. ANYWAYS, got caught up on You tube videos. Also listened to Mark Levin.

Ate...I made Smash Burgers and sweet potato fries. It was really good. I might have also had M&M's and donuts. Yeah, so not healthy...stop laughing, because I know you are. LOL

Sunday's dinner... Baked chicken and vegetables (potatoes and carrots)

Today? Ummm...pool. I suppose I ought to get around and write my speech for Friday. But, first, pool. Until the hubby tells me to get out because I am turning red, LOL.

---I also have to do some laundry...but first, pool. LOL

***On that silly thought, POOL is the word of the day.😁

Wishing you all a beautiful day.

Currently Saturday...

 Good morning. It's currently Saturday.

...on that thought...adjust your sails. Which also means adjust your attitude, missy. Just saying.

Weather...
at 8:55 am, after last night's storms, one would think it would cool off...wrong. It is 79* real feel is 86* and sunny. Another heat advisory until 8 pm. Yes, I know it's Florida.

Reading/Watching...
Nothing. I barely remember eating Totino Pizza Rolls, posting last night and fell asleep at 8:30.

Listening to...
hmm...nothing really. Hubby is laughing over something on You tube that he is watching. I can't quite get my mind there yet...laugh, talk, giggle etc. 😉

Eating/Ate...
Last night it was something abnormal...as we were supposed to go out to the pool when I got home from work, but the weather changed that, so the hubby opened up the bag of Totino Pizza Rolls and popped them into the microwave. Yeah, so unhealthy and reverting back to teenage years.

**I have no idea for this morning or evening.

Thinking...
Surprise. The bossman pulled me in yesterday and told me asked me volunteered me ordered me to take his place at an event next Friday knowing full well we have a luncheon planned with another department. I am worn out from planning this event (as I am the "Luncheon Committee") for 50 or so people...anyways, yep...so yeah...I have no problem making a speech as the subject matter is near and dear to my heart. It is for the JOY (Journey of Years) program which is a faith-based betterment program for young women in prison. I have mentored several women through the education system with this program. It was my suggestion to the bossman and higher ups that led to allowing these women to take part in the education program, and we work very closely with the ministry to do so. Not sure if or how this will change when my job position changes. It's a big thing--this speech. Not nervous. Actually, I rather do this (speak) than this luncheon, which obviously I will not be enjoying.

Feeling...
Want the truth? This humidity has worn me out. No amount of loose clothing or sandals etc... whatever shoes I wear...it's just so uncomfortable. And I will tell you; every single person is ready to bite heads off.  Even the bossman said yesterday, "What gives? Either the weather breaks or we do/will." Yep...so true. I really don't remember last August being like this. I probably say this every August. LOL

Will be enjoying...
The pool soon, when I get done here. Although, the hubby wants to go to the store and get things done. Sigh...

So not laughing...anymore. 😉😀😁

I better stop, y'all get it. LOL

Wishing you a beautiful day.

Late Friday...thunderbooming

Good late Friday early evening post. Where it is currently thunder booming and lightening pretty good at 6:10. Wow, it is an understatement how much it is.

Taken a few minutes ago at 6:15 pm. Wow...it is really "swirling" out there.

when I was driving home from work, I snapped the temp. (no worries, I was at a red light). We have been under a heat advisory all week and usually by 11 am it is near 108*, and that is no joke. Unfortunately, no pool time this afternoon, I reached home by 4, and the sky was already turning a dark blue here in south Marion County. The county alert system called, and we are under a severe weather threat.

I am going to try to get caught up on your blogs. Wishing you all a beautiful evening.

Brain Fried...

Good morning. Thank you for the kind comments/words on yesterday's post.

Yes, people. It exists. I have nothing brilliant to say...how about...

--wow I am hitting a record. Yesterday I had to call security yet again to take an inmate out. And yes, brain friedness (is that word?) is hitting everywhere. Poor officer...he went dead silent and then he goes, "Sorry Ms. Conley, my mind went blank, they should be at your door" (and they were). Even the bossman, bless his heart, I was on the phone with both at the same time, both went dead silent. Bless them, I am telling you this heat/humidity is just something else. And yes, I know it's Florida. But this year, seems different.

--Key fob saga...hey, folks, it's in our insurance policy! HA! (is what I said) --Yep, bless hubby...he is working diligently to correct the "oops".

--I have been coming home and heading straight into the pool. Yep, and been sleeping pretty well.

Apologies, I have fallen behind in your blogs and emails. Hey! It's Friday Jr.😄

Hodgepodge into Wednesday...

Good morning...this heat/humidity, y'all, is just a bit much. I ended up collecting my class between 11-11:30, the temperature was 106* and we came in and I just sat there and the class was like...umm...Ms. Conley? Yeah...my brain and body are just friend. On the good note, though, security came and got them shortly thereafter, we went into lock down. Shrugging...so, what did I do? Cleaned my desk and started boxing stuff up. NOT that I am leaving as in leaving, but I am going somewhere else on the compound...anyways, time for the

1. I saw a meme on Instagram that went like this-'The movie Dirty Dancing came out in 1987 and was set in 1963, so if remade in 2026 it would be set in 2002. Now I need a little lie down in a dark room for a while."

Time is crazy, isn't it? So...what were you up to in the year 2002? Hmmm...living in Alabama. raising our son etc.

2. "Me? I'm scared of everything..." What's something that scares you that you'd like to try anyway? Hmm...I don't know...Maybe zip lining.

3. Watermelon-yay or nay? Which melon is your favorite-watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew. Of the watermelon food/beverages listed which would you say yes to...

all the above.

watermelon salsa~watermelon feta salad~watermelon sorbet~
a watermelon Jolly Rancher~a watermelon margarita

all the above. Although I cannot have tequila, so there goes the margarita. LOL

4. August 12th is National Middle Child Day. Are you a middle child?  Nope oldest and only girl.  Do you think this has influenced your personality? Elaborate. probably as I am pretty bossy. LOL

5. Would you rather talk to everyone at a crowded party for a short time, or have a significant conversation with two people? Explain. I rather be a wallflower, period.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I don't have time this morning but remind me to tell you all about my key fob that got washed because somebody who shall remain nameless (😄) left it in his shorts pocket. Wanna know how much that key fob is going to cost? $1000. Yeah...not...I will have to deal with it right now. It was something else on Monday when I pulled into work--the truck alarm wouldn't turn off, I couldn't get out of the truck, yada yada...yeah...I was not a very happy camper.😁

Wishing you all a beautiful day. Apologies for the short answers...like I said, my brain is just fried.

Tuesday Meme-'Ber Months

Autumn begins in September and it is called that until leaves begin to fall and then it's called "fall". Sept means 7, Octo means 8, Novo is 9 and Deca is 10 but the numbers are off since the calendar was changed long ago from 10 months to 12. Ber is an adjectival suffix from Latin meaning month.

Let's discuss it.
Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we ask just 4 questions each week to encourage blogging and enjoying the ideas and work of fellow bloggers.

1. What foods make you think of the autumn months ahead? Apples, Casseroles etc.

2.  Are there any songs you associate with the fall month? Nope

3.  Are you looking forward to the 'ber months at all?  Umm...no difference here because we live in Florida where it stays warm and humid until like December. We are actually under another weather advisory for above 100* temps today. Actually, temps and humidity should reach 108*-110. No joke.

4. School in New Jersey always begins after Labor Day and before that I would have dreams of going to school in my pajamas! Did anything similar happen to you? Not that I can remember.  Did you dread going back to school or were you happy and excited? Probably dreaded it. I dread it now LOL. Actually, if I could afford to retire (lololol) I would.

So, I let the bossman know I would take the job, and he was shocked and he owes some folks because they said I would take it. He said and I quote, "But, this job is boring and less stress, that's not you." Well, guess what...yeah...I need less stress. 👊

Sunday...

Good morning. Let's see what is on tap for the day, shall we?

Weather...80* and sunny real feel of 92* at 8:30 am. Sunny? Well, then, maybe we can make it a pool morning. Hubby went in after the thunderstorm yesterday evening and said the pool was still at 86*.  Another above 100* day.

Unfortunately...I did not win the Powerball. ((long sigh)) I am destined to be poor. LOL

Did yesterday...what did we do? Oh, got the oil changed in my truck, stopped at Aldi and Publix. That was it. We were home by noon. The skies were already turning a weird gray. I kind of like getting things done early and home.

Dinner...was Publix Mardi Gras chicken wings. Gosh, I am just stuck on that right now. We were going to get pub (Publix) subs--and I don't know, I guess we changed our minds.

**Sunday dinner will be nachos (hamburger meat, tomatoes, cheese and taco seasoning with tortilla chips) with Spanish Rice--it was requested.

And since...the sky was already turning gray then black, I parked myself in front of the tv and watched YouTube & massive amount of train videos:

Chloe and sometimes Ludvig

and

Cheapest Places to live in Florida (a couple of Florida videos)

hmm...well, I can tell you, Ocala isn't cheap...not that it was on the list, it wasn't. Are we looking to move? Sometimes-yes/no... mainly putting out feelers for retirement. Not out of Florida, but out of Marion County. Our property taxes are outrageous, just saying. Yes, the panhandle is cheap, but it's also swampy and hurricane/flooding prone. I pretty much laughed myself silly over this video...Hubby kept on saying, "This can't be true!" lolol. Both of us were on our Tablets doing research--and for the most part, yes, the panhandle is cheap. So, it was back to train videos.

P.S. If Pamela is reading, Interlachen was indeed on this video (or wait, was it another Florida video???😄)

Need to...

The usual-- laundry and ironing.

Do some lesson planning...although I have started back to the beginning of the 16-week curriculum, I always add something to it.

Still bake that cake. (yeah, I was Ms. McLazyDaisy yesterday)

Not reading... anything interesting. I am seriously lacking in that department, sigh.

Thinking/Making me laugh...

I find it very difficult to walk through any store right now...because it's a billion degrees here and yet, there is fall, Halloween and some Christmas stuff out and here we sit with a billion degrees and dab smack of hurricane season...oh...speaking of hurricane season...there is some tropical wave going on in the Atlantic off the coast of Africa. Me thinks El Nino will stop most of the tropics.

LOL Interestingly enough...I started this post at 7:30 am...and it has taken me a little over an hour...and I kept changing the Weather/temps. LOL

Ok...I will end this...because honestly, there is nothing Earth shattering happening...off to the pool at nearly 9 am.

Lately: Mid-August Thoughts...

Good morning, I didn't realize that I had not posted on Friday, oops. I am afraid the dog days of summer are upon us here in Central Florida.

Lately: Mid-August Thoughts...

Temps: 78* mostly cloudy at 8:25 am. 40-60% chance of rain today. Which is why we didn't go to the beach.

Listening to: Oddly, nothing at the moment. All is quiet. No wait, the hubby telling me to get around as we have to go get the oil change in my truck and go to the store...lol.

Cooking: I have no idea...what is for dinner? What's for breakfast? Who knows. And that is how the weekend goes around here, sigh. I would like to bake a cake today, we shall see.

Thinking: and the saga continues...a job change was offered yesterday. Out of the blue. Weird. A "God thing"???? maybe. On a serious note, that guy who was trying to force strong hand me to go against my boss...He was suddenly abruptly forced into retirement. I don't have the credentials to take that job, but another person will be and I will take over the other position, a non-teaching job/ Administrative Assistant in the same department--not leaving Education. Hang on for 3-6 months until paperwork clears for both of us. No increase pay, and it's a lateral move. I'm ok.

Missing: Where did the months of June and July go? How can it be August? Seriously, where did the months go? Schools start back here in full on Monday.

Wishing I could change: does attitude count? The level of disrespect shown from some of these adult inmates/learners is unreal. More like the sense of entitlement. Is it the weather? Is it the full moons? What is it? No one knows. It has been noticed from the top to us bottom folks.

**on that note, the bossman has been very secretive the last few weeks, and now I know why--well, partially why. You just got let things play out, is what I was told.

Loving: All this rain we have been getting...the storms, though, have been another thing.

Well, that's all I got for now...wishing you all a beautiful day.

Thankful Thursday

Good morning, one more day until Friday.

---wow did we ever get a storm late yesterday afternoon. I was leaving work at 3:23 pm and the lightening show was something else. No sooner I pulled into the driveway 45 min later, all double h-e hockey sticks broke out. Wow. Quite a bit debris out there (according to hubby), just so thankful...we did briefly loose power.

---thankful for the officers on duty yesterday. I had to have them take out an inmate out of class yesterday. Said inmate sits in lock, who failed a drug test too. Yep, in prison. Second time in 2 weeks I had to call for back up.

---thankful for each of you.

---thankful for a boss who lets me sit in a self-imposed time out in a corner in his office and never ever says anything until I am ready to talk. Those two situations have been very overpowering and scary.

Just completely and utterly thankful for so many things. Last, but not least, thank you Jesus for the daily wisdom and guidance, it sure has been tested lately.

Friday Jr. Have a great day all.

Hodgepodge

 Good morning. Time for the

1. What's something on your August calendar you're looking forward to? Or dreading if that's easier to answer. September, October, November? Cooler weather? lol

2. August 5th is National Oyster Day...do you partake? Ewww...How do you feel about pearls? I own a Mikimoto necklace and earrings, and they are in a safe.

3. Tell us about a time when you felt like 'the world was your oyster'. Sigh...probably when I was younger and had no cares in the world. Now, I am settled with debt; mortgage, two truck payments, taxes, house insurance ($2,100 a yr!) yada yada. 😂

4. Trip Advisor lists seven islands in the US that require no passport (for US citizens). If you're answering today from outside the US you'll still need to produce yours. An-y-way, have you been to any of the seven? Let's pretend you get an all expense paid trip to one this month...which one do you choose and why?

Catalina Island California~Martha's Vineyard Massachusetts~Mackinac Island Michigan~Key West Florida~South Padre Island Texas~or Kauai Hawaii

Been to every one of them but Hawaii as an adult---I went to Hawaii as a baby and don't remember. LOL--and don't ask me to choose, because MA, MI, TX and Fl are all beautiful. BUT with that said, Key West wins all the time. 😂

5. Sylvia Plath is credited with the following-

"August rain: the best of the summer gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time."

Agree or disagree? In other words, how do you feel about this month? Look, can't we just move forward to the cooler months? Or even get one good storm i.e. hurricane to knock all this humidity out?

6. Insert your own random thought here.

yeah, probably shouldn't elaborate on that. LOL---the usage of the "f" word in daily conversation is just too much...and I had the afternoon class write out 100 sentences yesterday--spelling out that word...because obviously discipline isn't working, so let's try another way. Grown women acting like children, sigh. Every.single.day...someone cusses me out. Unacceptable.

Wishing you a beautiful day.
