In Pictures Tuesday Meme

Back to work today. Joining in with the Tuesday Meme.

Hello! Nice to see you back for another Tuesday 4 which was begun by Toni Taddeo and kept up in her memory.  It might be nice to talk about our homes and how we like our rooms to be ordered and used. What about the bedroom... a place of comfort and peace.

1. How do you make up your bedroom and bed... colors? blankets? Quilts? Bedspread? Comforter? Throws? Pillow? what goes into making your bed comfy for you?

I change it out according to seasons...but you know, Florida really doesn't have seasons and my mother gave me the bedding a few months ago. So, no, I haven't changed it up yet. I do still have the heavy duvet at the end of the bed.  I am not parting with it/the duvet, it cost me a pretty penny etc. to invest something so luxurious.

2. What is in your dresser? Is it organized or messy?

umm. Yeah...messy and disorganized. Just t shirts, shorts, underwear, bras, socks. The rest of my clothes etc. are in the closet.

3. What's in and on your night stand?

In it? My son's kindergarten book and a jewelry box.

4. Do you read in bed or watch TV before going to sleep?

The husband usually has the news on...since I don't get home until near 6 pm and I go to bed by 8:30 due to the fact I get up early (by 4 am) for work.

Have a beautiful day folks.

Sunday Stealing

Joining in with the Sunday Stealing, since I visited Annie's blog first, I am stealing from her, grin.

1. Do you go in at a fast-food place or just hit the drive through?

We go in... every once in a while, I like a cheeseburger. It's been a while lol.

2. Have you ever lost anything down a toilet?

Nope

3. Do you have a dog?

We did, but Coffee passed away last July. If y'all remember, we didn't think he would make the move back to Florida in April and he suddenly passed away in July. He was our boys' dog and I firmly believe they are together now.

4.  Ever go camping?

Yes, but not since our son passed away. I rather glam camp, the boys like roughing it, LOL.

5. Have you met anyone famous?

Yes, when I was a week old, my mother and paternal grandmother had to travel to Hawaii has my dad was shot down in Vietnam...anyways, Don Ho and Elvis both held me-there are photos somewhere in my mom's photo album. Let's see, I have met Randy Travis before he was famous, I knew Tom Petty (his cousins were my brothers' best friends), Hank Williams Jr., Jimmy Buffet.

6. Any plans today?

Grocery store and perhaps we will hit up the Goodwill. We really need to get through the 32 totes that sit in the 3rd bedroom. We still haven't unpacked from moving here into this house in late Oct.

7. Are you happy?

I am neutral. Listen, losing one's child (no matter how old) has been devastating. I am not trying to dwell on it and make others feel sad for me, but it has been rough. JUST KEEPING IT REAL.

8. Where are you right now?

I really need to take an updated photo. I got a new (well new to me) chair.

his desk and I really need to update photos, LOL.

In the second bedroom at my desk. My husband and I share this room-he has his desk and I have mine.

9. Biggest annoyance in your life right now?

Work? LOLOLOLOL

10. Last song listened to?

Living on the Edge by Aerosmith. Hate the video, but so understand the wording.

11. Last movie you saw?

Something stupid last weekend; My 5 Wives with Rodney Dangerfield. My husband loves stupid movies lol.

12. Are you allergic to anything?

Yes shrimp, bleach, cigarette smoke, pine.

13. Favorite pair of shoes you wear all the time?

 For work

My Sketchers slides. I have them in the three colors. And on the weekends, I wear Sketchers flip flops. Since I was diagnosed with severe arthritis in my feet, I have sprung for expensive shoes.

14. What do you think of when you think of Australia?

Bugs, snakes, surf, kangaroos oh and Mel Gibson, LOLOL.

15. Do you use smiley faces on the computer a lot?

No not really. LOL

Yeah, I need more coffee, grin. Have a beautiful day all.

Late Saturday Post...

The beach visit will have to wait until next weekend. The husbands (my husband and our friends) thought it best due to the traffic and this little tropical issue off the Atlantic coast. No worries, the husbands decided to have a yard sale (rolling eyes), Kim and I stopped by (they held it a vacant lot) and stayed to help out and made $300, and they/we split the proceeds. Tomorrow and Monday will be spent resting. ANYWAYS, rolling along to the Tuesday Meme.

It's time for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

Questions about your life........

1. What makes you tired?

Right now, work and driving back and forth everyday --it just wears you out. And the sad state to which we as Americans/people are in right now...but you know, we know who wins, right?

2.What things do you value in life?

Family and friends and of course the truth...

3. How do you want others to see you?

Fair, loyal, fun loving, truthful.

4.  What things do you enjoy most and find most relaxing to do?

Sigh, if I could afford to live by the sea, that would relax me. My husband, bless him, doesn't get it. I know, I know, we are only 45-60 miles from the Atlantic or the Gulf-in either or direction.  Bless him, but he hates the ocean...and I haven't been able to go once a month like I want too---I did mention him today that he has a lifetime Florida fresh and salt fishing license and gear why not use it? He might be onboard to do so (visit once a month, grin). I do find it relaxing to go too thrift stores etc. and spending the day with him.

Why, yes it should (grin)--thank you all for the kind comments. Dinner is almost ready (BLT'S)-Have a great rest of the evening.

P.S. NO, we never made it back to get the chair & ottoman. It's all good though.

Meme Filled Post...

We didn't find anything interesting when we were out and about yesterday. No, wait, that is not true. My husband found a leather chair and ottoman for $50--he did not get it. Although, that is all he has talked about since we got home yesterday. So, we might go back today and see if it's still there. Florida has been good to us, since we sold the majority of our furniture etc. to move back here. Nice items for sale/consignments. Slowly but surely our home is being filled back up.

Indeed. How about some memes since I have nothing else to talk about.

1. What surprises you the most about people?

I am not sure...but I can tell you, kindness is a real thing. It surprises me that the younger generation think(s) they know it all--I suppose I did too.

2. Would you rather have a chauffeur, nanny, gardener, maid, personal shopper or cook? Tell us why that one?

Right now, if I were to pick one, gardener, if money wasn't an issue...grin

3. May 18th is National Notebook Day. No idea what that means but let's run with it anyway. What's something you currently keep in a notebook?

I keep questions/trivia in my notebook for work. The folks seem to like the questions/trivia I post daily.

Have you seen the movie The Notebook? On a scale of 1-5 how does it rate? (5=a favorite, can watch and re-watch and re-watch again)

I read the book.

4. Do you like mushrooms? Yes

Last dish you made or ate that had mushrooms on the ingredient list? last night Pizza.

Your favorite dish that calls for mushrooms? Pizza or spaghetti.

5. What would you say is the most annoying thing people do in public?

I have a couple of thoughts.

1. Just my thought, but anyone over the age of 10- should NOT wear spandex or spaghetti straps with one's bra showing. BUT I get it in reference to the last one...it is very hot/humid here in Florida. SO, yeah, I get it. Less clothing is the best. AND I might just buy sleeveless shirts and show the fat arms on the weekends. JUST SAYING.

2. Cell phones. I simply do not want to hear one's conservations. Period.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

While waiting for my husband at the barber yesterday...and talking to the barber...I had my haircut yesterday by my husband's barber and I have to say, I love this man. Who would of thunk it? All the women I have been too, no one knows what do with thin hair. He said they have been cutting my hair wrong---sooooooooooo he talked all the way through while cutting my hair--talking about blunt, fine etc. cut, what kind of cut, the way you hold the scissors etc. it actually doesn't look like I had a haircut--and he said, "That's the point, right?" My husband, "For all the hair that is on the floor, it sure doesn't look like you got a haircut." Ok, then, see you next month. grin. Just keeping it real.

Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4. We enjoy having you here and love reading your responses on your own blogs. I sure hope you enjoy the questions and seeing what others have to say.

Would you like to talk about books?

1.  If you had to flee this life and there was a possibility to actually live in a place based on a story or book or movie, which would you choose and why?

I really liked the Hobbit series. But truth be told, just prop me up in a chair on a beach, any beach. I don't care. I know, that is not book related...oh wait, I have read several Mary Kay Andrews books...so, yeah in the south or Maine by the sea.

2.  What kind of story line do you just not like either in books or movies.

I used to love Stephen King...but honestly, not anymore. So, horror.

3   How many of the Great Classics have you read and/or popular book series?

To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, War and Peace and so on...I love the old classical books.

4.  There are reading playlists available for various genres of literature. Do you play any music while reading?

Nope. I prefer silence so my mind can ramble. LOL

yep, pretty much. LOLOL. Have a great day all. I will be around later to check blogs.

Saturday Morning Chat...

Good morning from a soggy Florida.

Time: 7:25 am

Scene: 70* Sunny, 100% humidity, dewpoint 69*. Boy did it come down last night and more is expected today. Welcome to the rainy season, hurricane season starts on June 1. Another hot and humid day.

Drinking: First cup of Breakfast Blend coffee with Italian Sweet Creamer.

Apologies for not keeping up with the blog this week. I am absolutely slammed at work--I am training a new person and trying to stay on top of my workload and by Wednesday, I just kind of gave up. My computer which is on a different router/port because my office is in the vault, got hit by lightning (well, the server or whatever it is called). We keep having these late afternoon storms that are awesome in nature. ANYWAYS, spent 2 days out where I use to work using their computers-running back and forth ...I finally hunted down our IT guy who fixed the problem and announced it was indeed lightening as the computer "closet" where the buildings computers are stored that the port indeed was hit. Tired is the word.

Speaking of work, nearly every day I get to park behind or next to this beautiful Camaro that I affectionally call the Green Monster. I might have a lust problem. My husband and dad have said NO to me getting a Camaro for the fear I might kill myself. LOLOLOL--The Sgt. who owns this beauty might laugh at me because I do lust after it, lol. My husband, "Linda, seriously? You'll be rolling in and out of it, stick to the SUV." lololol

my plastic lunch bag on one of the chairs. Everything has to be seen through and non-breakable. Believe me, security is pretty tight in the rules. They once confiscated a larger bag I had (only to give it back as the captain stepped in).

On a good note, last Sunday we stopped at the Goodwill and my husband found this wrought iron glass table and chairs for $60! $60. Darn, now I have to paint the cabinets white...I was going to go with a Seafoam green--you know All Florida / Beach/Coastal theme.

Just another photo. So, we sit here in the mornings to have coffee and breakfast.

---heading into town today. I am sure we will hit up the thrift stores today.

---need to get a haircut.

--need to go to the grocery store.

What's for?

Breakfast--we are in talks to head over to Breakfast Station. Notice I said talks--both of us are still sluggish. LOL

Lunch--who knows...prob. by the time we get there it will be near lunch time. LOL

Dinner--leftovers from last night.

---and I have to wonder why it's not, lol.

Have a beautiful day all. Thank you for the kind comments that you leave here. smiles

Slowly but surely...

I will try to post before going to work...Slowly but surely, work around the house is getting done...

The windows were too big to put the shutters the way I wanted. Nonetheless, it works to keep the sun off them.

yes, it's that bright out---no shade or clouds yesterday.

We ran out of pavers...so, another project that will eventually get finished. Eventually there will be a fountain and some flowers. I am thinking Hibicus or some Impatiens.

I believe Florida has skipped right over spring and gone onto Summer...it sure feels it. Have a beautiful Monday friends. Thank you for the lovely comments yesterday and I hope all of you had a nice day.

Mother's Day Chat...

Thank you all for the kind words on yesterday's post. I hope this Mother's Day finds each of you in great spirits.

Time: 6:50 am

Scene: 68 and sunny. Humidity 97%, dewpoint is 67*.

1. Thinking:

How times have changed.

Sharing a photo of my mom and my son when he was a baby.

and one of me

So long ago...now I am middle aged, looking towards retirement in 10-12 years and Liam has passed onto Glory (I prefer to say that). 24 beautiful years with him...Mother's Day is bittersweet.

2. Thinking:

--need to visit Mom today

--need to head to the store.

--need to plan the wardrobe for the week. Last week was Employee Appreciation Week and we were allowed to wear casual/jeans all week. Definitely was not feeling appreciated, none of us were. Not complaining, but our department is often the last to be thought of.

3. Thinking:

Of getting away over the 3-day weekend of Memorial Day...my heart is set on Flagler Beach...50 min. away. It might be too expensive so we might have to just make it a day trip.

Hubby is groaning...he said how about the Gulf side...wherever. We were watching a HGTV show Friday night and it was from Indian Rocks near Tampa (90 miles). We shall see. Nonetheless,

Have a beautiful day friends...

Getting in a rut...

Time: 7:40 am --been sitting here for an hour trying to come up with something...hence in a rut.

Scene: 67*, sunny. Humidity 99%, dewpoint is 66*. Expecting 90% chance of thunderstorms later today.

Drinking: Second cup of Walmart Breakfast Blend with Italian Cream.

Doing?

Yep...both of us our tired...he worked outside and put the shutters up this week, went over to a friend's yesterday, used the Ditch witch etc. to lay cable/electrical and the husband is tired, so we shall stay in today. Oh, I might venture outside to take photos of the shutters...then again, might not. LOL--sorry folks, it has been hot and humid here and we are in lazy daisy mode.

Thinking:

---received disturbing news from my mother. She has breast cancer...where 'we' go from here, she doesn't know. She will have surgery within the next 2 weeks, my aunt, her sister is also battling breast cancer. On a personal note, hence why I did not do the Tuesday Meme, frankly, I am just stunned and really can't fathom discussing the questions. The questions were just so hard to answer right now... I might have said something to my mother "Oh then it is genetic." Trying to be the grown up 56-year-old woman that I am...but I was thinking... IF only families would discuss medical issues...Just saying. But nope, some families refuse to discuss health issues etc. No, not angry...just saying. 13-14 years of being breast cancer free here...we had a long discussion about that...where are relationship goes from here, we shall see. The truth speaks much volume...just saying.

--The dam is going to break at work...the do is fixing to hit the fan. We have a new upper supervisor coming in from another institution...word is she is going to clean house. Good, we/my department need it. There is so much going on...so many changes etc... change can be good. I hope my days of running around with my head cut off will be a thing of the past. I am training 2 new girls in my department, and it felt good yesterday to just sit. On that note, why am I training these girls? It's not my job comes to mind...but hence why changes need to be made, the supervisor (not my supervisor) who is in Classification is not stepping up. I was never trained for the Clerks job -the girl's job. I was left to my own device(s) when I started that position a year ago and then moved into another sometime ago. The powers that be know this certain supervisor is pawning off her job on me...it's a known secret --so yeah...right now my attitude is, "I only work here ma'am." grin

--So, CNN got owned. LOL--Sorry, but not sorry. Although I have issues with the former President, no matter how much folks try to get him. How many years later? Yeah...vendettas come to mind. 30 years and this woman just now wants to speak out? It's all about money/power. Now, let's talk about the other monkey-Biden. SHAMEFUL.

--Inflation, illegals, etc. shaking my head. Going to heck in a handbasket. Just keeping it real.

What's for?

Breakfast? Hubby is making breakfast maple sausage links and cinnamon sticks.

Lunch? Who knows.

Dinner? I will be making a chicken pot pie with Spanish Rice as a side dish.

Yeah...is it nap time yet? Grin...

Combo Post...

I really don't have any photos; I still haven't figured out how to sync from my phone to the computer...so how about a combo post; Sunday Chat and Simple Woman's Daybook.

Time: 7:20 am

Scene/Outside My Window: 63*, Humidity 93%, Dewpoint 63*. Sunny. Another warm one on tap for the day.

I am Thinking:  I need another cup of coffee.

I am Thankful for: Central Air Conditioning. Where we lived in NY, there was no such thing.

On My Mind/Pondering: The truth on what Neil Oliver said about the Coronation.

I am Wearing: Still pj's: purple sleep shorts with owls on them and a pink tank.

I am Going:

--Back to Lowes (I think)--if the folks don't come home --they/my dad has a taller ladder. They are in Jacksonville with my brother and the grandkids for the kid's baseball tournament.

--Grocery Store

I am Listening/Hearing:

--the hubby talking about the shooting in TX and why haven't they named the shooter. What are they hiding?

--the hubby talking about the winner of the Derby and the jockey and how the written news has suppressed the jockey words of thanking God and his Lord and Savior. At least 146 million of us heard it.

--the hubby talking about how 7 horses had to be put down and the trainer has been suspended until further investigation.

--The USA first lady and granddaughter wore blue & yellow for the Coronation for solidarity to Ukraine. How it's an insult to USA...(according to the news)

**he is in a odd mood today. grin

--the floor fan is on, and the ac kicked on.

A quote:

The question of the day--are we truly free? Just some deep thoughts.

Saturday Chat...

Time: 4:00 pm

Scene: 83*, humidity 61%, dewpoint 65*. sunny.

Drinking: Was a Coke a Cola.

Doing/Did:

We got up and headed out the door by 9 am. Headed over to our old high school Vanguard and went /drove over to Oakcrest Baptist Church  (same road-saw signs for a church yard sale where they were having their annual twice a year indoor yard sale.) Wow, I didn't buy anything, but hubby did; tools and an Alabama license plate that had the date 3/31/1997. That was our son's birthday and the very fact he was born in Alabama--he thought it was a "sign" so he bought it for $5. To say our son is always on our mind, well...yes, yes he is. Yes folks, we know he is not on the Earthly plain anymore...I'm just keeping it real.

Then on the way to State Road 200 (aka Hospitality Row) we stopped at Ole Cracker House Antique Mall (one of my favorites, the folks who run it are super-duper nice etc.) While I was putting my purse back in the car (I forgot no bags of any kind, to say that place is loaded top to bottom with stuff, is an understatement) I spotted 4 huge brown louvered antique shutters that had no price tag. My brain went to working overtime, I got them for $5 piece, $5! What we going to use them for? To make awnings for the 4 front windows, grin...win win chicken dinner. Of course, hubbly is pretty handy...so his brain was working too--he has been thinking about what my mom had said about using shutters to make awnings...she had told him a couple of weeks ago to look up Key West style shutters...yeahhhhh...on that note, the folks have been coming by and leaving things-just random things that they claim they don't need or want anymore...hmm...

Key West Style Shutters

Then we went over to Sonnys BBQ on State Rd 200 aka College Road. I had a Sweet Carolina Sandwich (pulled pork with coleslaw on top), and hubby had Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese. It was super good, Sonny's never disappoints.

Then we headed over to Lowes for white paint, screws, hinges etc. for the shutters. All in for like $50. I say win win. (No, we haven't worked on it yet. We both decided it just got too hot/warm out and we decided to finish the day inside the cool house, grin.) AND we are still waiting for the front door...sigh...it is what it is...and I/we continue to look for a used front door --just in case--oh and I got my own house key made-a Univ. of Florida key--I know...sigh...

I have no idea when the door will show up--it's on back order. It is what it is. No sense in complaining...on that note too, we are on a 6 month waiting list for the tree to get cut down on off the power lines (from our Electric Co)...yep.

Thinking:

thanks to a series of powerful storms that swept through.

We most certainty do not want this happen...last Sunday the power went out and so we decided we were going to head out to the store--leaving out of our sleepy old folks ((grin)) neighborhood -- a huge Oak had fallen and snapped the power lines...yeahhhhh not good. The neighbors were kind enough to redirect everyone out through another subdivision. Interesting as I thought there was only one way in and out. LOL---anyways, we have a huge Oak of our own that is leaning on the power lines...

What's for dinner?

Since we didn't make it to the grocery store...we will have leftovers. I have 1/2 of the sandwich left for lunch and I told hubby he could have it. There is leftover Detroit Style Pizza he had made the other day.

from Food Network--hubby stole it from there--he made one Pepperoni and one Supreme. It was a really good.

What's on TV?

There is a marathon of Maine Cabin Master's on ---so yeah....

Thank you all for the kind comments here...I have once again fallen behind. sigh...

Tuesday Meme

Presetting the time on Sunday for the Tuesday Meme.

Everyone loves a party.  Imagine you are arranging a party or an affair for a friend.    Perhaps a home wedding or a milestone birthday. Share with us your best ideas please.  Money is not a concern....

1.  a. What is the occasion?

No occasion. Does one really need an excuse to have a party? But since no men are invited, how about we have a whimsical elegant tea party just for us?

    b. Will there be a theme to the party?

Think Alice in Wonderland, whimsical but elegant.

Royally Pretty in Pink with some real flowers and fake mixed in... just in case someone is allergic. With candles, and beautiful chandeliers.

2.  Will there be music in the background or perhaps a hired band or DJ?  What music will play?

I think there shall be beautiful classical music.

3. Describe how you will decorate the house for the party/wedding.

Just pretty in pink. Shades of pink and plenty of food and a wide array of different teas. I would also hire a venue and spare no expense to make it look like a English or French garden. Each of you are special and deserve to be treated like royalty.

Of course, it would be air-conditioned set at perfect temp. One would walk through a flower trellis set with candles and then come out to a beautiful room with shades of pinks. One would not think you are inside a venue.

4. What kind of foods will you serve, and will it be finger foods or a sit-down meal? Catered or home style? What kind of cake?

Since money is no object; it will be catered with finger foods such as cucumber and chicken salad, roast beef with horseradish, wide variety of soups, salads etc., cupcakes, cakes etc.

and all sorts of foods and teas. Cupcakes, eclairs, petite fours, wide variety of fruits, crudité, tarts etc.

and I suppose we can have both; a wait staff and serve yourself. You know, since money is no object. grin.

How delightful, Annie. Thank you for these lovely questions.
