1. Do you like the way your home is decorated or would you tweak things a bit if budget allowed?

I like the way things are...of course, I would love a big open concept farmhouse.

2.. Do you have any plans/dreams to change anything about your home ?

I wish...the dream list IF I could buy this house and turn it back into a 1 family house are endless.

3. What style of furniture do you have or want  to have in your home and why?

 We have a lot of Bassett and a few antiques mixed with Ethan Allan. I like below though.

Why? Because I am just a simple person. I like walking into a room that is comfortable and inviting. I am a traditional sort of person. I love the French or Primitive Americana look with simple lines and cozyiness.

4. Tell us about your ideal dream house or dream kitchen if you prefer.

Simplicity. I like the Americana / Primitive look. Striving...but the sad reality is:

We have a very small kitchen.

 And storage is an issue.

 It's ok...we make due with what we have. smiles.

Putting the Gadgets Away...

Yesterday evening we decided to put our gadgets away and enjoy some family time. We are so blessed to have a "kid" who still wants to hang out with us.

Decided to play Finger Lakes Opoly.

4 hours later, I was beat by a 22 year old loan shark, grin. Man, let me tell you, never ever play a game like this with him or the husband, ruthless, man, ruthless ((grin)).

Today's Plan: Was suppose to take our usual Sunday drive. Thanks to the whiny governor, we are now under a Travel Advisory, no non essential travel now.

No and No. I don't like them.

Gosh, I have two children aka men who love to pop bubble wrap. lol

I wouldn't say the most beautiful, but she cetainly handles her role with so much style and grace.

I really don't follow fashion trends. So, I couldn't tell you. Maybe I should, because I don't dress like a 53 year old (what does a 53 year old dress like?). I do like these Espadrilles though:

9) Random question: When someone makes you really angry, are you more likely to respond with stony silence or a big noise?

It depends on the situation. Sometimes, if I am being totally honest here, I just like to ring folks necks. My husband, "I know when you're mad and the need to just to back up. You have your mothers look." Hmm...whatever do you mean, dear? lol

I thought this was pretty cool. This came in the mail. This is what Vice President Pence has been carrying around in the press briefings. On that note, I am pretty much done discussing this virus. There are a few of my friends that email or IM back and forth who have chosen to keep open minds and for that, thank you and we shall continue doing so. I do not foresee NY state opening up anytime soon and it is what it is. Folks, keep your on the ball, there is so much more going on than meets the eye and now, I am done.

Friday Overload Photos

Broke the rules (bahwahahahaha) and got out yesterday. It was such a beautiful, albeit it, windy day.

Saw our neighbor and stopped to talk to him about his flag. His grandmother lives in the downstairs apartment and she also has a Trump flag.

Then, took off to around the corner to the school.

Sort of discerning not seeing the kids in school and the school empty. I think our dog loved being outside, tech, suppose to be on a leash, but you know, NO ONE was out (Such rule breakers we are).

Stopped and said Hello to Old Glory. The dog was chasing his ball.

Continued on around the school...still weird not seeing anyone. It was so quiet. STILL practicing safe distancing, LOLOL.

(((Because I forgot to take the photo))) We continued on past the Armory on Seneca-still there after 100+ years (our street is where the rotunda by the tree-Seneca is directly in front).

It is nice to see the essential workers are hard at work. The Seneca Street bridge is down. Continued on down Prescott where the terrible fire was this past November.

Happy to see the clean up has been completed. BTW, did you know there were 4 houses in this lot?

Devastating what this fire did. 4 homes were also damaged behind this lot.

WHOA! I actually did a double take and stopped. Flowers! In March! Where the weather can change on a dime. IN MARCH! FLOWERS! ((LOL))

And now, back to our street. STILL practicing safe distance. lolol

On a funny note, I'm fine with staying in, its the "Being told" you can't do something, I take issue with. Humpty Dumpy had to get out before she fell and hit her head (ok, just being silly).

I am quite sure our German Shepherd thinks this. The way he looks at us is comicial. Ok, folks, have a great day, must brave the store. OH, 8 known cases here in the county and 3 here in town.

Social Media Spirit Day

While visiting my good friend Buttercup, she had a pretty cool post about it being Social Media Spirit WEEK, I changed it to DAY, grin.

As usual, I am a little slow on the uptick of all things social media. I remember way back (cough, cough) of high school and the show your school spirit week. ANYWAYS, I have this one cabinet in the dining room that holds two precious photos and other items that are dear and near to me.

Wedding photo and our sons baby photo.  Let's see, Russian Nesting Doll, Univ. of FL. Gator Coin, Bride and Groom figurine, My mothers vase, and Sparky and Steve's (fellow blogger) birthday gift. Oh, the glass frame is my mothers original frame that their wedding announcement was in, that was 55 years ago. For whatever reason, she decided to pass it on.

I don't know about you, but this social distancing thing does have its perks; getting caught up on all things of blog visiting. smiles

Hodgepodge is Back! YAY!

Hey! Joyce is back! Yay!

1. Howdy Hodgepodgers. It's kind of fun to be back, isn't it?  Last time we met was September, 2018. Tell me something big-important-happy-or sad that's happened in your life since that date. Just one thing. We don't know how long this current isolation situation is going to last and we might need to dole out our news bit by bit.

I celebrated my 53rd birthday in very low fashion and that is ok. Like I told my parents, I'm not a child, I don't really need birthday accolades and that's the truth. This is the last year I can switch the numbers around to the 30's; 35. wink.

2. Might as well get this out of the way early on...COVID-19. On a scale of 1-5 how serious are you about keeping your distance? Explain. fyi-I didn't create the scale but have seen it several places online. Also fyi-we won't only have virus related questions each week, but for this first one it feels right.

1-Not at all, living normally

2-Cautious but still going out

3-Going out as needed, mostly home or working from home, still seeing friends/family

4-Extremely limited, only going out when unavoidable, minimal contact with people

5-Full lockdown, no one in or out

Explain.

Number 4. Received a stern talking to from my own mother. Reminded me how ill I was last spring with some unknown illness that involved reoccurring pneumonia and flu like symptoms. And the very fact I am in that age group that can die.

3. Raise your hand if you think you might run out of steam in the cooking department before it's all said and done? What's something delicious you've cooked or eaten in your own kitchen in the past week?

Well, since the restaurants are closed down (I wouldn't count BK or Taco Bell as restaurants), we have been cooking and baking...boredom is setting in. I did make a pretty good chili oh and my Moms' recipe for Rum cake.

4. What's a television show or movie you've seen recently (it could be an oldie) that you really liked?

Love that show.

Gift certificate to Erie Line Antiques, Gift Certificate to Harmony Blue (clothing/used boutique) and 1955 Chevy Nomad, my dream car with a sweet card from my son, "Maybe one day Mom, you will get a real one. Dream Big!" Although, mine is a 1956-1957 Nomad

He found this 1956 Nomad in Arizona, he said it was $75,000. I better get 3 jobs to afford it. He said, "Mom, its ok to dream and set goals. You spent four-five years in college and now look, you are graduating!"

Tuesday 4 Meme

First let me say a big hearty THANK YOU for the birthday wishes. Since we are essentially in "locked down" or as our 80 something year old landlady said yesterday, "House arrest." We did nothing, I worked on Spanish homework and with the Distance Learning now, the State of NY has changed the GPA requirements, no longer is a D passing (according the email). I digress, more on that later...anyways, I made a pot of chili (everything is closed-can't even call out for a pizza) and my  moms Rum Cake. All is good here.

1. Who inspires you and why?

Every single day I wake up and I think, "Wow, how lucky am I." Not just one thing inspires me, everyday simple things do.

2. Convince us to read one of your favorite books.

Not really one of my favorites...but since I am currently working on my final paper for the Directed Study on The Suffragists Movement.

I am really not going to convince anyone to read this...but let me say, there are so many untold stories of everyday folks who made a difference. Since my brain is always on overload on such things...

3. What meal does your family just love and will you share the recipe?

Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn and gravy.

Meatloaf:1 lb of ground beef, 1 lb of ground pork. Mix both with bread crumbs, various seasonings such as Italian seasoning, 1 egg and then make into a loaf, pour ketchup on top and bake it 385 for an hour.

4.  In Brambly Hedge they make Rose Petal Jam.
