Sunday Chat-Day 3

Good morning and thank you for the kind words/comments. How about a

Time: 7:25 am

Weather: 63* and raining (96%), again. Temps are supposed to plummet Monday-Wed. Lows will be near 38*. Yes, in Florida.

Drinking: First cup of Maxwell House with Peppermint Bark creamer.

Thinking:

-we went over to the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing yesterday. I didn't think I would enjoy it, but I did. Way too many memories...growing up here in Florida my dad used to take us kids to the Gator Nationals, and he is friends with Mr. Garlits. Way too many memories floating in and out. I guess that happens with age.

-my sister in-law and her husband did not spend the night. He wanted to go home. We did play a few games of UNO under the carport-outside. She kept on saying they were staying because she didn't want to drive back through the Ocala National Forest while it was raining and dark (no one likes doing that, just saying) --I had things to do and promptly at 3 I told her /them I had to get to Walmart. Hubby was like, "Thank you, I had had enough." So, wow...that blew my mind. Between her husband drinking and smoking, and her clinginess, enough...at least I pretty much could enjoy the museum pretty much by myself -her husband took off on his own as well...as she was following my husband and wouldn't stop talking/bothering him. grin. 50 years old and she has issues, still. Has to be the center of attention, all the time.

Doing today:

-IF or when we get a lull in the rain this morning, hubby is going to get all the Christmas Totes out of the trailer, and we will get the house ready for Christmas.

-laundry and getting my work clothes/outfits around. Pulling out sweaters etc. for Monday and Tuesday.

Dinner? I had made a pot of homemade Vegetable Beef Soup yesterday thinking they were staying--and they didn't want that- (rolling eyes). So, we will have that again. I say again, because after we got back from Walmart, that is what we had.

Watching: the latest installment of Christmas Videos, grin. Hey Santa, cute. Nothing sappy today.

Hope each of you have a beautiful day, smiles.

Day 2 Brings...

Good morning from a chilly Florida (53* and overcast). I had to chuckle over the comment that Wendy left, nope, Florida does not look like my blog, LOLOLOL. Although it has been dark and rainy the last few days. NONETHELESS, moving along...

Brings much gratitude for friends who once again opened their home for a splendid Thanksgiving meal and fellowship and even warranted two wonderful big bear hugs from our godson (their son). One has to understand, he is a big boy in size/nature (sorry, a 38 yr. old man who is a sheriff deputy, grin). I will always remember him as that little boy who used to run around naked in the backyard, LOL. The second bear hug he whispered, "That's from Liam." WOW. I will tell you, this momma about broke down. Yep, just like Liam, the bear hugs...I don't know what it's about these boys and their bear hugs, but Liam used to about squeeze one to death, LOL.

So, not that I am about commercialization of the season...but I do like some of the tv commercials. Joy of the Ride...beautiful.

Just think of me as the unofficial sponsor of Season Joy. (((grin))) Just finding joy in the littlest of moments...have a beautiful day friends. Catch you tomorrow.

Currently Day 1

I hope this post finds each of you in good spirits. Joining in with the meme from Stacy.

Currently

of the Christmas Season and since my husband is already putting in his 2 cents of what NOT to call it (Happy Holidays) ...he prefers to keep Christ in Mas. My husband refuses to deal with anything other than CHRISTMAS and will even turn off the volume on the tv and I am to obey what the sticker says on the fridge "Keep Christ in Christmas". I have my own viewpoint on the verbiage.

Weather: A rainy / currently pouring 54*. Quite nippy for these parts of the Nation. Yesterday was a glorious, beautiful day that saw a high of 64/65*.

Reading:

Watching:  Que the Christmas Ad's

Listening to: My husband and his anti-word 'Holiday' issues. I have come to expect this every year and it causes some issues between us.

Thinking: My husband's sister and her husband from Palm Bay are coming over tomorrow, 'surprise'. I am NOT in the Christmas spirit when it comes to those two; vulgar, angry, drinking/drunk, smoking folks. They want to go over to Don Garlits Museum and they told us they were spending the night, here, at our home. Yeah...Hubby told them no smoking etc. And the nerve of her to tell him, "We'll see."--Yes, I am acting like a brat. They bring so much drama...and I have no desire for it. I told our friends yesterday I would come spend the night there, they said it fine lol. Neither of them cares for sil and her husband.

Feeling: Other than that, pretty good.

Grateful and Blessed: Thinking about the big move we did 2 yrs. ago...so grateful and blessed for friends who took us in etc.

Looking forward to: Well, I was looking forward to decorating for Christmas today and this weekend...but with sil coming in...and we are heading to our friends for Thanksgiving dinner today...I just don't know when...we will be able to decorate much.

Something to make you smile/laugh:

I hope each of you have a beautiful day.

Me'ming it on a Wednesday....

Good morning from Florida. I hope this post finds each of you in great spirits.

Hello friends and welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

Thanksgiving Day is about here. Let's talk about the holiday and thankfulness.

1. Whether you are from the USA or not, thankfulness is beneficial to a nation and people.  Is it a natural thing for you to think of being thankful or is it something you must be reminded about?

It depends on the situation...I do unintentionally take people/friends for granted...and I want to thank folks who read my blog and for the lovely Thanksgiving cards and a lovely letter from a dear friend who doesn't blog but reads my blog, wink.

2.  Plimoth Plantation is the site of the original settlement, and everything is authentic to the 1600's including how they speak. Have you been to Plymouth Rock?   How about the Plimoth Plantation (yes that is the proper spelling). Would you like to go visit these places?

Yes, we have visited, and it was a humbling experience.

What places are you thankful for having seen?

We have been to many places...we were just talking about this yesterday during lunch and a young coworker claims there is no way I have seen and done all these things. What prompted this was our big boss sat with us and asked what our favorite band was and why. Alot of folks don't realize I have led a privileged life and have met folks along the way such as Tom Petty, his cousins were my brothers' best friends, and he would come down to Ocala from Gainesville to hide out. I wouldn't exactly call him a place, but he sure was a nice person.

3. Do you tune into the Macy's Parade?

Nope.

4. What will you be eating on Thanksgiving Day this year?

This year, I have ordered some platters from Publix; meat, a French cheese board, fruit and I am going to pick up some rolls today. Our friends who we lived with when we first came back to Florida are coming over tomorrow and then we are going over there Friday for the proper Thanksgiving meal-their adult kids get Friday off; one is a Sheriff's Deputy the other works for Disney.

Currently...

Linking back to Stacy as it's her Meme, grin.

Currently...I am....

Reading: The second book to Just Jones, the book I just finished. We stopped in Ollies yesterday and I was browsing the book section. Much to my delight, hidden behind other books was this:

I felt like I scored a million dollars, grin. I love Andy Andrews style of writing. I was reading and watching football last night and I am almost done with the book.

Watching: Nothing at the moment. We did watch the Fl Gators blow the game last night. No bowl game for them this year.

Listening to: Nothing at the moment. I have been listening to Alison Kraus and Robert Plant (yes of the rock band Led Zepplin) they make such beautiful music together. Also, at work we only get one radio station in and its playing 24-7 Christmas music and I have fully embraced it.

Loving: We stopped at Publix yesterday and ordered a few things from the deli and the bakery for Thanksgiving. It was much cheaper this way than cooking the whole meal.

Thinking: Nothing really. How I am going to decorate my cubby/office space. lol

Feeling: Happy, tired, melancholy. All of it.

Celebrating: The good BOGO's from Publix this week: Tollhouse Chocolate Chips, Crushed Peppermints and some other baking stuff. Hubby, "Does this mean I am going to get cookies?" LOLOL

Grateful for: so many things...too many to list.

Enjoying: Will be enjoying 5 days off. State offices are closing down starting Wed. for the holidays. People simply don't understand how tirelessly we work to keep the public safe and sound etc...state employees get a bad rap, just saying.

I was also marveling at the weather and here it is nearly the end of November and how blessed we are to live in a climate where shorts and flip flops are the norm.

Also, I am quite enjoying the new Capital One Commercial with John Travolta playing Santa Claus. I also like the Hobby Lobby one where the boy sells his game stuff and decorates the house for his hard-working mom.

Looking forward to: Putting the Thanksgiving stuff away and decorating for Christmas. Although I am feeling a bit melancholy and thinking of our son, I think I shall bring out the Christmas villages this year.

The weather: sunny and 62* Supposed to warm up to 80*. Still warm and tad bit humid, although yesterday was pleasant, just warm.

Something to laugh about:

Ain't that the truth. lol

Yep...but look away, nothing to see here comes to mind with the person occupying the White House. Everything is hunky dory.

Bawhaaaaaaaaaa.

Ok, I better stop there. Wishing you a beautiful day, friends.

Mem'ing on a Saturday...

I was telling Annie that I really didn't have anything in common with this week's Meme...and she mentioned something about the beach. LOL

So, can we talk about how your autumn is going this year? Maybe we can get you to post a photo or two
of your area in autumn...big changes or not.

1. Are leaves still falling where you are or are they done now? Have they even changed yet?

Leaves? In Florida? LOL---SO, yes, they do change color, but not like up north. I have noticed subtle changes, but nothing like where we use to live. I also have noticed the Palm trees that go to a subtle brown.

2.  Does anyone in your family go hunting? Have you ever gone? Would you tell us about it?

My husband and son use too...my husband doesn't find it fun anymore, it was all about spending time with our son...and since he is gone now...both were expert marksmen and safety conscious.

 3.  Who rakes the leaves at your house?

Leaves? In Florida? LOLOL--They fall year around especially with the drought we have been experiencing. Hubby does the outside work and it's a constant battle.

4. Is football on your menu for fall? What teams get you cheering?

The Florida Gators and Alabama, both college teams. The Gators aren't doing well this season. We don't watch Pro football thanks to the anti-American sentiments etc.

1. This week's Hodgepodge lands on National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day. Is yours in need of a cleaning? Will you get that done today? How often do you tackle this particular chore?

Hubby cleaned out the fridge the other day. He probably cleans it out like twice a week. Not that we have many leftovers, mind you.

2. November 15th is also National Philanthropy Day...tell us about a charity (local or otherwise) you like to support when you're able.

We support:

3.What in nature inspires you and why?

Ormond Beach, Fl.

seriously? Does this need an explanation? The world's problems could get solved if one just would stop and breathe.

4. What's something you own that makes you feel cozy?

It's not so much that it is owned; it's the idea of home itself. Getting home from a long day at work, seeing my husband is what makes me feel cozy.

5. Who did you thank today? A coworker yesterday. There was an incident between 2 coworkers, and I apologized to her for the actions of the other person who was not reciprocal in accepting her apology for slamming files down on the counter to the person who took an air of superiority. It disturbed me, the actions of the other person who took an air of superiority (since she got a promotion and was acting like the queen)...Who thanked you? The same person. I am forever the peace maker, so it seems. Sometimes one just has to be the peacemaker, both were wrong, but one apologized and the other didn't. Actually, the one who didn't took it a step further and reported the other person, of course I was drugged into it as I was one of the witnesses. I hope and pray that my statement will end it.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

My thoughts are on the upcoming holiday season. A bit melancholy as our son's 2nd anniversary of his passing is coming up, but also for the general feelings of the holiday season. And the very fact that this season makes people in general cray cray...my hope and prayer is folks just need to stop and take in the beauty of this season.

A Late Friday Chat...

I know, I know...I have changed the background to a more "Christmasy" feel...grin.

Time: 9pm (9 pm? Good gracious, didn't realize it was this late, LOL)

Scene: 70*, humidity is 94% and dewpoint is at 68*. Had to turn the central ac back on...see below...

Drinking: Just had a cup of Maxwell House coffee. I just simply needed it.

Thinking...

Had to turn the ac back on. The weather had been quite rainy and a bit cool...now, today, the warmth and humidity are back up. Plus, when we got home the other day, it was just plain steamy, and it triggered an asthma attack of sorts...

I will probably head over and get my eyes checked tomorrow; it's been like 3-4 yrs. now. Plus, since I read so many court documents, eye strain is a real thing...just time to get it done.

Thinking I will prob. take the Thanksgiving stuff down on my desk Monday, if I get time. We are expected to get dumped from the courts because of the upcoming holiday and we are only working Monday and Tuesday; supposed to get in a total of 66 new inmates. Got permission to decorate my "cubby" area --so, I picked up The Christmas Story wrapping paper, a leg lamp ornament, the bunny ornament and some other things and I am just going to with the "Don't Shoot Your Eye Out" theme. LOL--actually it was Hubby's idea and out of my norm/comfortable zone.

Reading: I finished this book

I really like the author and his style of writing.

Watching: Nothing...I do believe hubby is watching Reacher--I think though, he is probably a sleep in his recliner. LOL.

Wishing each of you a good evening. smiles

Sunday Chat

Good morning, Heyyyyyyy heyyyyyy Pink Mermaid who can live out of water checking in (rolling with laughter). I don't rightly remember where we were yesterday, but somebody/adult walked by dressed as a Unicorn. Just because she identifies as one...I am telling you this world is messed up and I think sometimes beyond repair. ((shaking my head)) It's sad, really.

Time: 8:30 am (yeah, I slept in)

Scene: cloudy 67*, 97% humidity, 65* dewpoint.

Drinking: first cup of Maxwell House with Italian Creamer.

Doing:

Have a load of laundry in.

Need to go outside and hang up the Thanksgiving Garden flag.

Need to iron my clothes for the week.

As little as possible (grin).

Watching: one day I shall get across the pond, lol.

Thinking: We visited an antique "mall" yesterday down in Oxford (the Villages) and the owners have taken quite a bold stand against Hamas. Had a nice very conversation with them. I shall support their business. No such tolerance here in central Florida for those protestors, just saying.

I did add to my collection of cookbooks...

...our governor might want to quit the race and get going to fixing the housing/mortgage crisis/tax increases here in Florida. Housing has become quite unstainable / unattainable for quite a lot. It used to be retiree heaven here...not anymore.  On second thought, maybe it's everywhere (the cost of living, inflation etc.). Our home taxes went from $1,200 to $2,000 in just one year. Ridiculous. unstainable, but nobody is listening to us poor folks.

...making a game plan for Thanksgiving. Our friends are coming over, NOT making a full course meal (she is on Friday as their adult children have Friday off and we will go over there).

...yesterday was 23 months since our son suddenly passed away. Still in disbelief.

What's for Dinner? I don't know. Maybe Ziti or spaghetti.

Jesus Christ, not King Charles, not Biden etc...Jesus Christ people. Just saying.

Currently...

Writing a Currently post and linking back to Stacy.

Currently...I am...

Reading... I know, I know...I listed this book awhile back; I am finally making my thru it.

Watching...nothing at the moment. We finally finished the British series, Monarch of the Glen. I did watch a Hallmark movie last night.

Listening to...not much. I was listening to something Annie posted on my FB page--or was it her FB page? LOL

Loving...

Yesterday was a beautiful day at the beach; 90* and sunny. Looking out from our canopy. I did move my chair to the water's edge. BTW, The Atlantic was oddly cold, it usually isn't that cold.

Feeling...tired and sad...not really wanting to leave yesterday. The salt air does wonders for my asthma and arthritis.

Celebrating...maybe...hubby said to look into a motel for a couple of days at the beach for our anniversary late next month.

Grateful...for a hubby who hates the beach but will tag along to just make me happy.

Looking forward to...the holidays?

The weather...it was 90* yesterday. No cooling off, I think this coming week is only supposed to be 75. Our cool months aren't until Jan-March.

Giggling at...so we were watching Jesse Watters last night and there was a segment on about a woman who was pulled over for suspected drunk driving. Funny thing is, she self-identified as a Non-binary Indigenous person who suffers from white phobia and decided to tell the police that. I felt pretty bad for the police man who was trying not to laugh... I on the other hand, laughed myself silly. So... I told my husband I think I will identify as a Pink Mermaid who can live out of the water.

That didn't go over well. lolololol --on a sober thought, that is what is being taught now a days...never take responsibility for your actions...sad but true.

I'll leave you now with those thoughts...LOLOLOL

Hodgepodging on a Thursday...

Good morning good peoples! I have today off due to hubby needing more dental work and then tomorrow is off as well due to Veterans Day.

1. Are you too hard on yourself or not hard enough? Elaborate.

I suppose I am. Some might say I am wound up tight. It's my nature/upbringing to be serious and only then if I know you will I relax, please don't take it personally, it's just my nature.

2. What's the role of gratitude in your life?

Thank you, Lord, for saving a wrench like me, just saying.

3. Where do you get your news these days? Various. Even the liberal news. I really don't trust any news and take it all with a grain of salt. I'll take it a step further and state the media is full of evil and not trustworthy of my time.

4. Do you like potatoes? Last time you prepared potatoes in some way? Which of the following is your favorite...baked potato, mashed potato, french fried potato, sweet potato, hash brown potatoes, roasted potatoes, or potato salad?

Let's just say I have never met a potato I didn't like. lol

5. Are you a veteran? Are there any veterans in your family? Will you do anything special to honor them on Veteran's Day/Remembrance Day this year?

few months ago, heading over to St. Augustine's outer islands.

My dad is Army and my husband is a Marine. What are we doing tomorrow? Hopefully heading to the beach, but it all depends on the husbands' dental work today.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Speaking of/looking back at #1...the top supervisor has been going around handing out these little cards...and it seems she had pegged me to a "t"--how Intune she is to her people/employees/coworkers. Yesterday I got two cards: "You are loved" and "Keep Being You"....my thoughts are this, simply put, you got my back, I got yours. We work in a very serious and hard situation every single day. Most of the time, we lean on Faith to get us through the day. Most of the time we invoke the good Lord's name to give us strength and protection. Working in this situation has bought me to a realization that I am truly blessed to have had parents who cared enough to raise us tough, and with common sense. Also, it shaped me to some sense to become the person I am. Reading these court cases etc...I am just blessed beyond what I am worthy of.

P.S. The nights are cool but the days are very warm, tomorrow is supposed to be near 90*. Not as humid but still warm, not cool enough to turn the ac off mind you.

Hello November...

 This nearly slipped my mind...

We were discussing last night how hurricane season is almost over with and not one single major hurricane this year. Alias, it's not over yet...

onto other news:

Weather...57* warming up to the high 70's today. We are heading out to our friend's house (the ones we lived with when we moved back here) as they are putting up vinyl siding on the house and they need help. The job I was promoted to a couple of months ago, Kim is my supervisor. How is that working out one might ask. Just fine. Lot less stress in this department. She runs a tight ship. Period. I take no issues nor will I. Our work and life ethics are the same. The higher ups had wondered if our 40-year friendship would get in the way, no is the answer. Being respectfully 60 and 56 years old, we can be mature when we want to be, lol.

I have next Friday off due to Veterans Day, and we/ hubby and I are planning to head over to the beach. Of course, we are watching the weather for any topical development. So, it will be a very busy 4-day work week. Thank you all for the kind comments regarding last night's post. And to answer a comment from Donna, we watch a lot of British TV and we are almost done with the series Monarch of the Glen.

Meme Friday Evening...

Good evening, I hope this post finds you all in good spirits. How about some memes?

Welcome to another Tuesday 4 a fun meme started by Toni Taddeo.

It is Halloween, all Hallows Eve and tomorrow is All Saint's Day. Originally these days were to remember the deaths of Christian martyrs but things have certainly changed and the dark, the scary and remnant of Samhain (So-Win) have been introduced.

 1.  What is your opinion of Halloween?

I know a lot of Christians don't do Halloween, personally, I don't take have an issue etc. Everything that used to be good is now bad...it's sad really.

2.  Memories are important. Some of them are seasonal good times. What fall memories and traditions can you share with us?

High school football games, bonfires, trick or treating, crisp fall rainy days etc..

3. Stews, soups and chili dishes warm the tummy on chilly fall days. Have you a good recipe to share for a good fall dish?

Just Chili:

rather simple-just don't ask the measurements, haven't a clue...I just eyeball it, LOL.

1 can of tomatoes

1 can Rotell

1 can of water

Kidney beans (I prefer the ones you soak overnight)

1 or 2 lbs of hamburger

Chili seasoning, salt and pepper

an onion

Cook all day in a slow cooker.

and hubby prefers Macaroni with it, so that is cooked separate,

4. Fall is football season. Are you a fan of any teams? Do you watch games?

Just college football. Diehard Florida Gators and Alabama here (since our son was born in Tuscaloosa)

I am off soon to watch tv with hubby. Will try to catch up later, my friends.
