Sunday...

Good morning, it is supposed to be near 80* today. Just a random post today...

Yes, it probably would. So, he emptied out the shed yesterday and this how the dining room looks now

14 totes later it still sits there. We got too lazy yesterday, watching football all the way until midnight. We had a neighbor knock on the door and asked if we were alright, lol. 1. No one has seen us and 2. Our decorations aren't up yet. Then he came back and gave us Empanadas, LOL. Yeah, yesterday was one of those days where laziness ruled.

Have you seen these eye makeup liquid sticks? I have since given up the powdered ones.

not a paid endorsement, just love the product(s)

Love, love, love them. I usually go for the neutral colors since I have dark brown nearly black eyes, but every once in a while, I will use the amethyst or the gray metallic one. They stay put all day, unlike the powdered eye makeup. These are a variety of Revlon and E.L.F. and I think the E.LF. ones go on smoother.

That's all I got for this sunny Sunday morning. Wishing you all a beautiful day.

Currently Saturday

Currently Saturday, good morning, a crisp start to the day as its only 43*.

Time-7 am

Watching-marathon of Downton Abbey, on season 5.

Listening to-the hubby chit chatting about putting the Thanksgiving/fall stuff away and start bringing out the Christmas stuff, and the furnace came on.

2nd Thanksgiving- went well yesterday. Got to see both our godchildren.

Alicia, her husband Paul and Jr. We were having a sober conversation about the National Guardsmen when I took this photo. Paul is a retired Captain from the military.

Before they all got there, I might have squealed in delight over Kim's Halloween table--she decided to leave it up. So, we had two extra special guests. LOL--Alicia works for Disney and honestly, I preferred to think it was my own Pirates of the Caribbean ride, LOL. Alicia said her momma and I weren't "right". LOLOLOL--on that thought, whatever does that child mean? lololol

Anyways, the food was good. Green beans, carrots, turkey, mashed garlic potatoes, ham, deviled egg, cranberry sauce, stuffing and a buckeye ball and a little red wine, not much of that because I can't really have it. I chose not to pile on my plate unlike some people, LOL.

Thinking-do I really want to start dragging out the Christmas stuff? I would be happy to get the lights up outside/Griswold it. This will be the first year in doing so, as hubby had an electrician come out and put plugs in etc. Hubby said it's all in his head about how he is going to do the lights, oh oh we're in trouble, LOL.

Feeling-I need more coffee. All this overindulgence of food, LOL.

Giggling-

That would be an accurate thought/look on hubbys face, LOL.

Have a beautiful day all.

...and so it begins

Good morning from a very cold Central Florida (39*) where we had to turn the heat on to get the chill out of the house... and so, it begins, the joyous Christmas Season.

I know must of you saw my FB post. We made it to our destination downtown; all dressed up and looking forward to a nice meal at a fancy restaurant. Unfortunately, they overbooked the reservations. All is good though.

We ended up a local diner, Darryls. The place was hopping, people waiting to be seated, the staff were jovial, and it was a nice meal. I hadn't had collards since leaving Alabama and they were wonderful, and I do believe they had added hot sauce to them, couldn't quite pinpoint the flavor, but it was so good. Then, about 3 my husband asked could I put the turkey in as it had thawed. Sure, it would take a few hours, he didn't care. So, by 7 or so, we were having turkey again. No worries, we were busy watching Downton Abbey season 5 and having a discussion about what is or isn't holiday movies.🙄😁

Which brings me to the beautiful holiday season. Trying not to dwell on the fact that yesterday marked exactly 4 years ago, in 2 weeks, our son would pass onto glory. Yes, my friends, it's sad, but we also know he would not want us to be sad. You see, life has to go on, no matter how hard it is, and my heart is so heavy with this and that. I feel so sad for that young National Guardsman who lost her life, what that family is going through...just breaks my heart. Keeping in prayer.

...and the twinkling lights. There is just something magical about the Christmas season. I pray that brotherhood and love of mankind will somehow overcome the darkness that is upon the Nation.

...and so it begins. May you have a joyous day my friends.

Hodgepodge into Thanksgiving Eve...

Good morning, last day of this humid weather, hopefully. The weatherman has stated tomorrows high will be only 60 and very cold at night. Anyways, hodgepodge into Thanksgiving Eve and a few random thoughts.

1. Do you feel like you have a 'full plate' at the moment? In what way? My plate is always full, balancing home and work and everything that goes with it.

2. How did you learn to cook? My paternal grandmother and my mother taught me how to cook. If you have children, did you teach or encourage them to cook?

I can't rightly remember what he was making. This was when we lived in NY.

Yes, he was an excellent cook and ever so patient, which I am not. Do you like to follow a recipe or is your cooking style more 'let's wing it'.  It depends on what it is. Most of it comes from memory and hence why our son was on to me about writing things down...and well, I guess I don't have to worry about that anymore, sad to say. Just keeping it real (not meaning to sound mean or whatever, just keeping it real).

3. Last time you bit off more than you could chew? Elaborate. Sigh, you do know where I work right? Anyway, as head of the "luncheon committee" in my department, I am ever so over my head. Yesterday, I finished coloring the Secret Santa forms and got them handed out just in the nick of time.

4. When did you last say, 'the more the merrier' and mean it? Probably yesterday when I was handing out the forms and my coworkers were telling me what they we were bringing to our luncheon on the 18th. For 15 folks, we always have more than enough. Our department is very generous etc. One of my coworkers, Dr. R. said yesterday I was great leader and always so joyful. Which earned him much laughter from me. LOLOLOL

5. Write an acrostic using the word T-H-A-N-K-S. Ok, I will tell you the truth, I depend way too much on Deep Ai (yes that is the name of the program), especially for my job, so here we go; one word acrostic:

Truly Happy Array Neverending Kindness Spirit

6. Insert your own random thought here.

--We have decided not to go to the beach today. Honestly, I just don't have any gumption to do so--mainly because of the traffic on that two-lane road heading to the beach. However, we do have to go shopping and get things for Friday. Hubby suggested we go to the Villages which is only 10 miles and 20 minutes. Shrugging, all is good.

--trying not think about something the Major said yesterday and the warden shushing her...and I knew full well what she meant--only I am not supposed to know. I went to tell her that I was the last person out in both Education and Classification at 4:15 and she goes, "Ms. Conley you need to go home and make sure you rest up because you have a very busy few weeks ahead of you." And I am not at liberty to say why I know. I was trusted with confidence/knowledge of a situation by my boss who shouldn't have said anything, but he did.

--hubbys surgery for his Barretts Syndrome was scheduled for Jan. 21. They wanted to do it Dec. 21, and he told them no. 3rd time of stretching his esophagus and checking for cancer.

--And lastly,
hubby called me at work yesterday and goes, "So, I was thinking, I know the turkey is thawing out, but I know of place that is open for Thanksgiving and I was thinking, perhaps, I could take you out? and you can make the turkey say like Saturday? It's not fancy like the Red Lion Inn, but it will do." Apparently, after he went to the dr./surgeon pre op yesterday, he stopped somewhere and had a sandwich. This place is serving a full Thanksgiving meal, and he even bought home a flyer. Come to find out, many places are open. Go figure. So, out we will go. First time in like over 36 years we our going out. He said, "Now, don't get mad because you ain't cooking, you'll still cook, but just not tomorrow.
Hmm...ok...👍Three Thanksgiving dinners; tomorrow, Friday and this weekend. And I did make a comment, "I'll be fatter than a pig." LOLOL

Have a beautiful day all.

Tuesday Meme...

Good morning. Another warm one on tap, sure all of you are tired of hearing that. Yesterday was a very humid 85*, in November. Today is going to be a good day, I plan on getting my class early (1:30) and leaving by 5. In the meantime, enjoy the Tuesday Meme.

P.S. Thank you Annie, I know Liam was very protective of us. He thought the world of you, smiles.

This coming Thursday is Thanksgiving Day when we gather together to ask the Lord's blessing as the song says. What are your Thanksgiving Days like?

1. Do you celebrate with family, friends or by yourself? We used to celebrate with both. Now it's just the two of us. However, since being back here, we celebrate with our friends the day after as our Godson is a sheriff's deputy and has to work Thanksgiving and our Goddaughter works for Disney and they both will be at their parents Friday.

2.  Do you watch the Thanksgiving Day parade from Macy's in New York City?  Used too. The appearance of Santa at the end signals the start of the Christmas season. What does the day hold for you? Nothing special, just the two of us. He said he wanted turkey and green bean casserole, so that is what he will get, LOL.

3. What foods are the hit of Thanksgiving Day for you? Well, when I was hosting it was the usual:

Mac and cheese

Mashed Potatoes/Gravy/Corn

Turkey/Ham

Green Beach casserole

Rolls

Fruit Salad

Assortment of cheeses and crackers

4.  We say grace before and after meals. Is grace a part of your Thanksgiving meal? Every single day before meals...and that includes my lunch. I decided not to be afraid anymore, since my son wasn't afraid to pray and often got in trouble at college for it, I am going to be like him.😉

Whatever your Thanksgiving traditions, I pray that the day is meaningful and filled with love for you whether with family, friends or alone. May God shine his blessing love down on you and yours and make us all truly thankful this year. Amen Annie, and thank you.

One last thing

I finally caught a photo of one of those trees last night coming home from work. This one isn't so big like the others. Nonetheless, I love these trees.

Have a beautiful day all and thank you for your kind comments.

Currently Sunday...

Good morning...Currently Sunday and another unusual warm start to the day. It's already 71* at 9 am.

Hmm...I have to think on above...it is way too warm and sticky out to do so. I do believe Florida is in a drought, no rain and no hurricanes. Here we are nearing the end of the hurricane season. Anyways...

What's going on? Oh nothing. Nothing important on the Conley compound. So, you want to see boring? Wanna see our desks?🙄

Both our desks have so much Knick knacks on it.

That would be our late sons Tablet, funny thing is it is so encrypted no one can get it open. I had a mental breakdown last Saturday while at Geek Squad. Those people tried so hard and the guy finally gave up and said, "Listen guys, your son sure was smart." I broke down and cried like a baby...sometimes that grief just rolls in. So, there it sits on my husband's desk. I.AM. OK. Just keeping it real.

Speaking of grief--just because I am keeping it real. The 4th anniversary of his passing is coming up and let me tell you, if it wasn't for my faith and a good therapist, I would be nothing/nowhere. You heard me right; someone took a vested interest me at work and pointed me in a direction I never saw coming. It's ok folks to get help, truly it is. And there is my little dirty secret, this person sent me for help, little did I know I needed it.

Life has- been so busy lately and I have mounds of laundry to put away and probably iron too.

Yeah, I should be ashamed...and I am. Sigh...life just gets in the way, as does exhaustion from working a full-time job and the drive to and from work. I was telling my mom this and we both agreed it's the drive truly it is. She was wondering how I deal with this traffic, sigh...not very well. sigh.

Saw-the parents yesterday. Oh, my how talkative they were. I kept thinking I was in some sort of alternative universe.😁😉

Thanksgiving plans? Hmm...I do have a 15 lb turkey and a ham in the freezer. We do have plans for the day after, but the day of...hubby said since it will be warm on Wednesday, maybe a beach day? Ok, I'm in...but for Thanksgiving? Not sure.

Doing-I have to work Monday and Tuesday. Hubby is out washing the trucks/vehicles and detailing my truck. Me? Well, sitting here of course.😎

Making me laugh:

And lastly...

Have you noticed a lot of stores have the Grinch? What's up with that? Walmart is all decorated with the Grinch. Even tv commercials, folks, get rid of this. It isn't funny. I actually prefer and like the new Target commercials:

I laugh myself silly and hubby is like, "You ain't right, Linda." lolol

Have a great day all.

Currently Saturday...

Good morning...The week sure flew by.

Currently Saturday...

Weather- 60* bright and sunny. Another 85* day is on tap.

Reading-Nothing at the moment, I haven't cracked any books--nope.

Watching--Since the traffic was so heavy last night, it took me nearly an hour and half to get home...so by the time I got home it was the last of the Laura Ingram show, Jesse Watters and Lottery Dream Home.

Listening-hubby asking me what we're doing today; get gas in my truck, haircuts and stop by the store.

Thinking:

--how can next week be Thanksgiving?

-- The last thing on my camera/phone--my husband found a Univ. of Florida-Gator plate at the thrift store for $3 and he was kind enough to put it on my truck. A pink one at that. It's a losing season for them this year. Hopefully the new incoming coach (whoever that might be) will bring the program back to the Fighting Gators.

--On the way home this week, I noticed a lot of folks are putting up lights etc. I wish I thought of taking photos. The Ford dealership on 441 has these great big blue metal trees up and quite a few horse farms have white ones up. They are beautiful. I had forgotten tonight is Light up Ocala at the downtown square.

--Someone asked me via comments where do I find the backgrounds for here. Well, Designer Blogs and Cute and Cool.

--Thinking--since hubby won't entertain the thought of putting up Christmas until Thanksgiving, I would get started here at the blog. 😉

Feeling/Enjoying-you know, enough of this 85*. I know, I know, it's Florida. The mornings are cool and by mid-morning, it's pretty warm. I see the weather will change next weekend, so the weather guy says. 🙄

Making me giggle-queue the funny Santa stuff.

Last thought-Nothing makes sense anymore, so go ahead and enjoy the holiday season.

-Wishing you all a great day!

TGIF...Yay!!!!

Good morning. It seems I am falling behind in posting and commenting. It's 57* and sunny, another warm one tap for the day. But I see changes are a coming in that department.

Hmm...news from the crazy job life is that a coworker will be fired and not returning after Thanksgiving. Growing pains yet again... Changes once again...why do I stay? The pay is good and about $20,000 more than a regular schoolteacher. Also, the benefits are way better and cheaper. We shall see, the good Lord knows, and I am reminded of "Want to make God laugh? Tell him your plans." With good pay and benefits come high stress. So, whatcha' wearing?

Jeans and Hey Dudes.

And a pullover that says Thankful, Grateful and Blessed. Because no matter the circumstances I find myself in professionally, I am certainly Thankful, Grateful and Blessed. The issue surrounding my timecard have been resolved, it seems since we are getting paid 3 days early thanks to the holiday, it was a hurry up situation...it's all good. As for the other situation about time itself, it's a work in progress. And I am blessed to have a wonderful Colonel and staff who are trying to get it right and a great working relationship with all involved. Like my boss constantly tells me, "You're a fixer and that's why I hired you. You don't take crap from nobody." Ok, whatever...is usually what I say.

P.S. I should have gotten a degree in psychology or psychiatry. Just saying.

Wednesday...

Good morning, another warm one again...thank you all for the kind comments...and if anyone cares to know, I have put in applications for the school system.

Did I not ever state the name of my truck? Oops, Ursula...you know, after the Little Mermaid. Long story short, but yeah, its Ursula and NOT Cruella. So, I looked at the Wednesday Meme and thought it was way too much thinking for me🤣.

So, were back to boring...what am I am wearing? Blouse with pink, blue swirls, blue capris, pink Sketchers. Trust me its blue. LOL

Yeah...pretty much. So, I am just making people mad at work. Now its officers...you know, just follow the directive the colonel gave you (you in general). I have not been getting out of there until after 6 pm--they are supposed to come get my inmates at 5:30 (they need to be escorted because it's getting dark now at 5:30)--nope, they are showing up at 6. I am not allowed overtime, period. I notice my OT was taken off my timecard, yep. So anyway, I contacted powers that be. Yeah, just making people mad. Sigh...never ending.

for your kind thoughts, comments, emails etc. They truly make my day.

Tuesday Meme...

Good morning, another warm one on tap for the day, bought out the sandals...just too warm to wear regular shoes.

Welcome Friends to another Tuesday 4 started by Toni Taddeo and kept up in honor and memory of her.
Let's talk about starry nights....

1.  Have you ever seen the milky way or been to one of the designated black out areas where no light can obscure the starry night? Yes...there are plenty of place to see the starry night...I have even seen the southern cross on one of our many adventures we have had.

2.  "The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows his handiwork."
Are you in awe of the starry skies. Do they inspire faith for you? Of course, they do...there is nothing like being in a dark place and looking up and seeing the beautiful starry night.

3.   Have you ever wished upon a star or seen a meteorite fall to earth? Yes

4. Do you think money is wasted on the space program that might be better used on earth? Oh oh...I know me and Annie have spoken about this...as she and my son also have...I do not hold an opinion on either or. But let me tell you, living back here and watching the launches--it does give me some sort of pride and hope. The good Lord created the Heavens and the Earth. Just saying.

So, you all would be happy to know the bossman called me in for a little shouting match yesterday. I think (and he shouldn't of been) he was shocked I did stand on my own two feet. I will not ever be dressed down in front of an inmate, period. I also told him the next time, I will go above his head and make an incident report. ANYWAYS, we parted with no hard feelings. It took a while for him to understand where I was coming from.😉

Have a great day all.

Unpacking this week...

Good morning...Somehow, I forgot to post yesterday. Interesting.🤷‍♀️

Currently--going to unpack this week

The weather-53* and sunny. Back into the high 80's today. Crazy weather, one week we are barely 50* and cold, and now back to the 80's. It's hard to decide what to wear on a daily basis...sigh. Talk about bipolar, lol--the weather is.

Last week work: There has been an administrator (my Bossman's right-hand girl (not man)) coming in observing and causing issues. Mind you she doesn't speak to me, no, she talks to the inmates, and it has caused issues which in turn caused a flurry of emails back and forth between the bossman and myself. The #1 golden rule of working and surviving in a prison is to never ever correct an employee in front of an inmate, never. And she did on Thursday. Telling me clearly, I have no idea what I am doing, and these inmates need to be working on so and so etc. Now these certain inmates think they have one over me. ANYWAYS, we are at odds. I showed my husband the emails and he not very happy about all of it.  Mind you nor him or her have ever been in a classroom, neither are educators etc. But to correct me/address me in front of inmates/students. Don't.ever.do.that. If I deserve correcting, then do so in private--my boss thinks it's ok to dress me down in front of inmates--hence the emails back and forth until his latest email stated I was being unprofessional. My coworker whom I share an office with and who runs the technology part of class is equally mad as she was also dressed down. I run 3 different level of classes (GED Prep, Mandatory Literacy, Adult Basic Education) all at the same time, by myself. My coworker is there, but she doesn't participate unless it's something math or tech. related. She is livid more so about me being dressed down then she is of her own.

Yesterday-ran to my favorite consignment store and then, hubbly thought he was being smart and thought he could make a u turn and they have put these new curbs up and around town, and well, you guessed it...he sliced a tire and we ended up having to go get tires. I was so mad...because I kept telling him, go up to the next turn, your truck is too big to make that tight turn. Sigh, men...and then we went to our appointment at Geek Squad. Hubby is wanting to use our son's laptop and Tablet. Guess what? That kid has it locked up and encrypted tight as Ft. Knox. I have a book somewhere of all the passwords, so I guess I need to get around and look for it---I bet that kid is laughing and I can hear him🤣...then we stopped at Aldi. It was a day, sigh.

there's a Butterball in there somewhere. Hey, umm...thought we weren't doing Thanksgiving? 🧐

P.S. Walmart and Amazon grocery are out of turkey. How can you be out of turkey? Anyways, Aldi had Butterball for .79 cents a pound.

Then-surprise I got a phone call from one of my brothers. Talk about a blast from the past. It was a nice conversation. Will actually meet my nephews soon. On that thought, folks, don't be afraid and quit walking on eggshells--yes, our sons' death was a shock to everyone, but life goes on and such. And that my friends, is the awful truth about being silent/avoiding and having no relationship for the past 4 yrs. Now we got that out of the way, let's just keep moving forward. Shall we?

I need to print this out and put it on my computer at work.

Have a great day all!

TGIF

Good morning, another chilly start here in central Florida. Not as chilly as it has been, nonetheless, 50* is a bit cool.

Hmm...shall remain silent on that subject😉...how about I share a couple of photos?

there was an accident yesterday morning, no serious injuries, thank the good Lord.

and that is why I leave for work very early...it might only be 19 miles, but it does take 45 minutes...Ocala suffers from horrendous traffic, all the time.

I have no idea what she was looking at, as it was only the two of us standing there. lol

and Ms. LilyBelle...every morning as I gather my things to leave, she patiently waits because she walks me outside. She is something else.😉It's those ears, I am telling you. lol

That's all I got...wishing you all a beautiful day.

Hodgepodge...

Good morning...another cool one on tap.

1. What does patriotism mean to you? The feeling of love and devotion to this country. Also being loyal to the Constitution and the founding fathers.

2. September-October-November...your favorite fall month? Tell us why. If you live in the southern hemisphere, use these months but sub spring for the word fall. I love all three months. November because it does start to cool down somewhat here in Florida, the humidity starts to drop off some.

3. A song you love with the word thanks (or some form of that word) in the title or lyrics? Thank God I'm a Country Boy by John Denver. Although, I was not raised in the country, I do like this song.

4. November is National Peanut Butter Month. Are you a fan? What's the last peanut butter bite you had? Fill in the blank: peanut butter and Mayo. My husband likes peanut butter and mayo sandwiches, ick, gross...but he likes them. Since I can't say jelly. LOL

Oh, and you can't say jelly.

5. This week's gratitude question-What event from this past year are you most grateful for? I'm grateful and thankful every single day that the Lord gives. So, really, it's just not one thing.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Although, I am not 100%, still. But I really need to get back to work. Trying to get in the holiday season too. Wishing you all a beautiful day.
