 Thank you all for the kind comments. No good word on Ron...he was suppose to be moved to Rochester, however, due to Covid restrictions...sigh...

Salvation is free. But since most of my friends/readers are believers, no sense in me stating so or going any furthur in explanation.

That's our wall in the sitting room. Pro American --pro flag. Always will be (((oh that might offend folks, no apologies, never will be, cupcake/snowflake(s) grin))).

3. One thing on your summer bucket list? Any plans to make it happen soon?

Head up to Lake Ontario. Its not that far from here, like an hour-2 hr drive. It has a great beach. Not sure if we will get up there or not.

4. What's your summer anthem? Yes, you need to have one. 

I posted it yesterday. A lot of folks don't know the meaning of Tchaikovsky's song. It had to do with Napoleon's invasion of Russia in 1812. However, it became famous here in America, never mind that the overture includes "La Marsillaise" and "God Save the Tsar".

5. What's something you love about America?

Freedom...but on second thought, do we really truly have Freedom? The political scene is changing really fast, scary fast.

After several days of near 100* (yesterday was 99) and high humidity, I am done with wanting to live south. Oh, I'll go south, but it has to be by the ocean (and he said NO). Of course, my better half has to remind me of this (wanting to move back south). It's just plum miserable. Especially when you work in a warehouse and the ac can not keep up with what is going on outside. Then after ones shift, you have to walk to the car...miserable. On that thought...

well...not really since mask wearing is still mandated...however, with that said, we don't have to wear them in the warehouse when working. It is nearly impossible to breath. Plenty of bad hair days here, thanks to the humidity. {{grin}}

Tuesday Meme

 By the time you reach this, I will be off to work; long day 8-4:30. Ron is still here in the hosp. he keeps having seizures & among other issues. He is suppose to get moved to Rochester as soon as they get him stable enough. Oh and what did my  mil do to get in trouble? She was caught stealing his food in the hosp. room, yep. The partial truth finally came out; he has been eating her diabetic food (Mom's Meals) because she can't have his food and he refuses to eat his food,  its a mess, I am just saying; he is 50 lbs. under weight, and his system can't digest the diabetic food. The dr. said he is literally starving, hence all the problems; bowels are shutting down, panceras etc. We went over to the house yesterday and went through the cupboards etc. and did an inventory. BTW,  her numbers are staying at a constant 300-400 range. Not good...why? She is eating junk food/stealing his food etc.. Both of them will prb. become wards of the state sooner than later. Yep, its that serious. 

ANYWAYS, ONWARDS...

Let's talk about entertainment, okay?

1. Do you have an actor or actress whose movies you hate to miss?

No, not really...I really like old movies that have Doris Day, Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball, Lauren Bacall etc. in them. Those women, sure portrayed themselves rather well.

2. Is there a movie or TV program you could watch over and over again?

Hmm...I really like the show  House Hunters or International House Hunters, and if I really want to have a good belly laugh two great British Series; Keeping up Appearances and Are you Being Served?---both make me laugh silly, especially Hyacinth in Keeping up Appearances.

3. Do you have a list of books or magazines you are hoping to read over the summer? Would you share it with us?

Sadly, I do not...too busy working and on my days off, too busy wanting to go and go here and there. lol 

 Bonus: do you make a cuppa something or a snack when you read?

Only in the fall or winter; usually tea or coffee and Lorna Doone shortbread cookie. There is just something about those two seasons that make me want to have a cup of coffee or tea and a Lorna Doone.

4.  What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?

I am a rock and roll girl. But, I do like classical musical and one of my favorites is the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky. I/we actually got to see this in a live performance complete with Cannon-took my son when he was little and I will never forget, I leaned over and told him, "Here it comes, son, wait for it!" BOOM! He jumped up and started yelling "Again, again, again!!!". It is amazing, I am told the cannons actually have to go off 15 seconds before. The timing has to be perfect.

which is the only foreign song I know by heart, wish I could sing opera, but it comes out more like a dying whale singing, LOL. My son and husband beg me to stop, so I guess opera is out of the question.

I've always wanted to learn to ballroom dance especially the Tango.

and lastly, my favorite waltz from the movie War and Peace / BBC 2016. What woman doesn't want a man to look at her like that? Just saying. lol

Currently in the Southern Tier of New York

Weather at 8:15 am...79 degrees, humidity 71%, dewpoint 69. Yeah, gonna be a hot one today, like yesterday.

Ron / Step father in law News...they were suppose to move him to the Univ. of Rochester yesterday. They didn't-he isn't stable enough to do so. We ended up returning early has he took a turn for the worse yesterday. The dr. also asked us to keep his mother/ my husbands mother at bay. The dr. will only speak to us and phone calls are now being fielded through to us, the hospital will no longer allow calls through. Per Ron and the dr. There is a rather disturbing story behind that request, one that doesn't bare mentioning because it is so unbelievable--luckily the dr. caught my  mother in-law so its not that unbelievable, sad.

Yesterday...

Put the fat little piggies in the cold glacier fed water of Keuka Lake (one of the Finger Lakes). Keuka is 20 miles long (means Crooked Lake) and in the middle it is 187 feet deep and it has loudmouth/small mouth bass, lake trout, brown trout, salmon, and mussels. AND one has to wear water shoes due to the shale bottom. It is also glacier fed and that area  is highly notable for the vineyards.

I was amused by the young folks and their antics. I wanted to scream out 'watch out', as it does drop off. They found that out rather quickly. {{grin}}

It was just a beautiful glorious summer day. By 10 am it was like 85, by the end of the day it was 95 and darn right icky. We made our way to Avon to the big flea market, then to Geneseo and had lunch at KFC-had to sit in the car due to "covid restrictions".

I am listening too... the ac's and fans running and hubby talking about the news.

Today's Plans...

Staying barefoot or in flip flops {{grin--day off}}.

Have to go get dog food.

Awaiting news about Ron.

Probably going to have leftovers (Sloppy Joes from last night).

Resting up due to the fact I have a 6 day week this week. I am working July 4th until 4:30, time and half. Fine with me.

Work is...going fine. Last week was an easy week...this week, not so much due to vacations and such (as the upcoming holiday). Getting the hang of things and received a very nice compliment from the OSHA lady at work and my boss's assistant on Saturday. They are very pleased with my work ethic and performance and that I was very liked and respected, thanks Dan (my boss's assistant). {{grin}}

In the kitchen...since its summer, not much. My husband did make Sloppy Joes late last night. Plenty of leftovers.

Health/Weight...yikes, I better slow down. Thanks to the new job and working hard, clothes are no longer tight, my blood pressure is way down (unbelievable!), all my clothes fit better, body hurts but not like it did prior to this job. I guess physically working hard is the thing to staying active, young and healthy...not so sure about the young thing, grin.  most def. do not want to end up like Ron or my mother in-law and prefer to stay active like my parents and our 85 year old landlady.

HA, pretty much. Our mail was kind of "wet" yesterday. Have a great day all.

Just a Quick Update

 Just a quick update before I head off to work (8-12-short day, thankfully).

Ron is seemingly holding his own. He has many other problems besides the stroke and epilepsy; severe constipation that has caused his colon to be blocked and the Panceras to shut down. Right now, since he is not eating or holding anything down, they have given him an intravenous drip to force the constipation ---its not working. Hey folks, just an FYI and one public service announcement, albeit, a gross one; if your not having a bowel movement in say 72 hours, you might need to get it checked out (the case here, he had not had a bowel movement in 72 hours and was in severe pain, but he refused to get help).  They are thinking the stroke was bought on by numerous factors, including constipation. His words are still slurry, they are keeping him and will be moved sometime next week to a skilled nursing facility to live out his remaining how many days. Not meaning to sound cold. He refuses everything. Bitterness is rotting his soul, so sad. Both him and my mother in law are just so bitter...and angry. It's just so sad. There will not be a funeral as he donated his body to science. I shall refrain furthur.

Since there is not much we can do, we are heading up to Keuka Lake tomorrow to take some time to ourselves. It's time to dip those piggy toes in the glacier water since the temps are hovering around 90* and its quite humid out. We might just take a trip over to the Windmill in Penn Yan to walk around as well. Life has to go on, period. My husband is adamant about that and I know that is not some folks cup of tea, per say. Also, house hunting/moving is on hold indef. It is what it is. I think we can agree on though; wherever it is, it has be in the country. 

Coming to an End...

 First, thank you all for the kind thoughts and comments. I know we all have busy lives; family issues, private issues and so on going on. You stopping by brightens my day...even when I am falling behind in doing so in kind. 

While I was sitting here hitting approved for the comments and reading other blogs, I was thinking "Thank you Jesus". I wonder how many folks out there don't believe in Jesus? The scary truth is the devil is roaming free right now...Which brings me to my post today.

Tragedy struck here late yesterday afternoon. My mother inlaw's husband had a massive stroke, coupled with severe epilepsy, his time is short. I don't want to sound so cold about it, there is no news this morning. Since we are the conservators to both people, it is wearing on us (again not meaning to sound mean). But, they are not believers in Jesus Christ. How sad is that? So/he/both has many anger issues with this or that...are you ready for the end times? Truly? Are you? So many twisted lost souls out there, and it hurts to see folks hurting so much. I will leave you with that troubling thought.

Wandering into the Hodgepodge and an update on the House...

 Back to reality; aka work. Luckily, it is an easy week today its only 8-12.

1. What's something that reminds you of your grandmother? Tell us why. 

My son and I were just discussing this and Grandma Lucy. I miss her, dearly. I sort of fell out of favor with her, I married out of my religion and station in  life...I better leave it at that...anyways...

I am of Croatian heritage and anything that is on tv in reference to Croatia, just warms my heart. Such as Gordon Ramsey who was in Istria this past Sunday. Although, my family is from Zagreb and Dubrovnik.

Then, there is the Sarma (rolled beef/rice in cabbage or grape leaves served with sauerkraut). My late grandmother made the best Sarma around. 

Oh and her Torta Praska aka Apricot Torte. I have NOT mastered that yet. Dobar (means good). 

2. Is your life currently more 'moonlight and roses' or a little more 'every rose has it's thorn'? Elaborate. 

Probably both. No reason to elaborate. It is what it is. See below.

3. June 23rd is National Pink Day...favorite thing you own in any shade of pink?

I own several mismatching dainty tea cups that are pink (not my photo, I am too lazy to take photos right now, lol)

although, I will have to plant roses at the a new house.

I am a self confessed connoisseur of Vodka and whisky. No apologies. That is the only adult beverage I can hold my own on, forget tequila or anything else.

Laid back/casual, eclectic, traditional (you will never ever find me with my bra straps hanging out or half naked like some women are).

Our internet had been down most of the day yesterday/Tuesday...anyways, I know most of you saw my post on FB...but when the internet finally came back up, the news page suddenly popped up; the Hornell City Council voted overnight (Monday) to close Bryant Elem. (to which the house was near) and will make it into projects/low income housing. We decided to not go through with the house deal. Full stop. Back to looking. It's all good. Honest. All monies will be returned...and personally, I feel somewhat that the sellers and their attorneys ought to have perhaps told us. Hubby about had a stroke, not kidding. But it will all work out.

P.S. Spoke to my dad last night and he said not to even think about entertaining moving back south just yet. He said houses are going for over $300,000 and it was crazy. He said to hang on tight, he thinks the bubble will burst sooner than later. He said as much as they want us back south, there is just no sense in breaking our necks to get home right now. Ok then...moving on...

1. Do you have a favorite movie to recommend?

You know, I love movies...truly I do. I am not one to pick out inaccuracies etc. (unlike my better half and the son who just talk and talk through a movie, sigh)...I like to just enjoy movies;

Jane Austen movies like Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Northanger Abbey, Sense and Sensibility, Downton Abby, Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz etc. I also really like action movies like Diehard, Harry Potter, Transformers series, Justice League. But, I also like comedies such as Wayne's World. I am also a fan and somewhat of a snob of old movies from the 40's & 50's like Casablanca, Diamonds are a Girls Bestfriend, Some Like it Hot, Vertigo etc. Sometimes like those action movies, or comedies, one just needs  to loose herself in a movie or to laugh silly.

2. Do you have a schedule for your day or do you wing it?

Of course I have a schedule. I work. I am usually up by 5 am, shower, get around, have coffee, and leave the house by 7:30. Then home and shower again, who wants to be sweaty and stinky from a days work on clean bed linens, just saying. LOL

3. What are you eating/cooking lately?

My husband has been doing the cooking; mainly bbq'ing. I don't eat much now that is so hot out. I have been skipping lunch because of the extreme heat/humidity. I am so busy at work, that time often gets away from me. I have since learned though, to set my phone timer and force myself to take the breaks and lunch, again, not eating much. It is so different from my last job when one had to practically beg to get a break or lunch, not at this job. You are an adult and get treated as such. My boss often comes around and reminds me to get a break in--believe me, the 8 hrs. goes fast. We stay busy, period. BTW, one doesn't have to tell anyone when you take a break or go to lunch or even to use the bathroom, it is presumed already that you are an adult and know how to handle yourself. So, I am told. {{GRIN}}

4.  Do you surf on your computer? Tell us about it, won't you?

Sure; news, conspiracy theory stuff (lolol), HGTV, some tv episodes, blogs etc.

So, visited the house yesterday. That would be our realtor and my husband standing next to her. I haven't the foggiest idea what they were discussing as the kid and I were having a serious discussion ourselves about the brick walkway. He thought it was funny and wondered if it went to OZ (I swear, where does he come up with this stuff? lol).

So, trying to follow the yellow brick road in front of the house. The hubby and I are having major disagreements on furniture/what room will be what- placement. I am all for selling stuff (all our extra stuff) and living bare bones minimum. He has nixed that idea. I'm like, you have two storage sheds now...

One thing we can agree on; an above pool will go up. That is the one and only thing we can agree on. I forgot to take photos of the basement apartment, our son will live down there until we decide what to do with the upstairs apartment (which I did take photos of, will show another day, because I am sure you are bored by now, grin).

Indeedy...there is no place like home. We'll get through this.

 Apologies...I was on a 6 day stretch of working. No time for the weary to post or visit blogs. However, I do have today and tomorrow off and an easy week hours wise...so hang on. Linking back to Stacy.

The Weather...74*, pea soupy with the humidity at 93%, dewpoint 69*, storms on the horizon.

Reading...will be reading stacks and stacks of contracts for the house and eventually signing them sometime today. Thanks post pandemic. Gone are the days when one goes to the realtor or the bank, lawyers etc.

Watching...actually sat last night and watched Renovation Island on HGTV last night.

I am over it now...kind of hard to feel sorry for the folks; 2 other homes, flying back and forth on private jets, etc.  Grant it, they probably work hard etc...no doubt about that. Just over it now. Can never ever afford that lifestyle, sad to say.

Listening to...the hum of the air conditioners and hubby is talking about the paperwork and some mistakes on it, he is also discussing what to take out for dinner.

In the kitchen...nothing yet. Actually, that is a topic of discussion at this present moment (see above). Since I had to work until yesterday to 4:30, we did nothing for Father's Day. Truth be told, in the literal sense, we are b-r-o-k-e-, I/we just paid all the necessary money for the house. Every cent has to be saved back up now. So, no gifts, no cards, nothing fancy for Father's Day. We had hotdogs for dinner yesterday. Not complaining. He was fine with it.

The job...going well. Tired, but getting use to it. It is getting somewhat easier. Now I know what to expect on a daily basis etc.

Today's agenda...look over that paperwork. I do have to go to the store and get stuff for my lunch this week. Also, need to hem three pairs of pants.

I'm ready for winter...the warehouse is warm, thanks to the outside weather. Poor central ac can not keep up with the humidity at all. Have a great day all, thank you for visiting here. Smiles

Thankful Thursday

 I presume its Thursday? I  wouldn't know...I am in the middle of a 6 day stretch of working. Come on Monday and Tuesday.

...friendship. Thank you each for your friendship...it truly means a lot to me.

New house...well...not new, it is a 100 years old. But it will be ours on August 20.

2. Travel. Where have we been? What's your favorite destination(s)?

Son and hubby Niagara Falls-NY side. It was fun to walk across and enter to a whole new country.

Been to all states except Wyoming, Colorado, the Dakotas, Utah. Been to Bimini, Bahamas, Bermuda, Mexico, Canada. My favorite is fall in NY or NE.

 

3. Occupations. Did you end up working at what you wanted to be? Do you wish you'd done something else, if so, what? etc.

Well...nooooooooo...we all know that ordeal. I am still wanting to work in a museum and put my history degree to good use.

4. How do you keep from being bored? 

Honestly, lately, by the time I get home for my physically laboring job, all I want to do is sit. But, since moving day is going to be here sooner than later...I better get a move on it.

5th Time is a Charm

 So...after many months of deliberations...moving back south will have to wait...housing is way out of reach right now...so...after much deliberation (mainly me having 'fits' and being anti logical about things) we bought a house here, closing is projected August 20. 5th time was the charm.

Weekend Recap

 Stealing from Terri (grin)...why? Because I literally have nothing Earth shattering to say.

--Saturday worked until 4:30 and then came home and acted like a couch potato.

--Sunday load of laundry.

--Went and looked at two houses Sunday

Above was the house on 1.1 acre. HOWEVER, hubby got into really looking and he nixed it. The house has many problems, then again it is over a 100 yrs old. Beautiful inside, but its like lipstick on a pig. So, onwards to below to the house in city/town.

It is a duplex (2 apartments) in a desirable neighborhood. Really nice 1st floor (3 bedroom/1 full bath hardwoods throughout, full basement with a 3/4 bath/small apartment), however, the upstairs (3 bed/1 full bath, full kitchen, sep. entrance) is a wreck, needs a lot of work. Whoever rented it out, smoked and had a cat (I'm allergic to both). I couldn't stay upstairs long. HOWEVER, electrical, sewage etc. all has been updated. So, we mulled it over and decided to make an offer. We will go in today to sign the papers. I am quite surprised at this house. It might not look like much, but it is really nice. So, IF they accept our offer, son will live in the basement apartment while him and his dad work on the 2nd floor apartment. IF he doesn't want the 2nd floor apt. then we will rent it out. It can fetch upwards of $900 a month, it would pay the mortgage and then some. The second floor has a really nice open layout. I just won't live up there because I didn't like the kitchen layout. It would be perfect for a single person or a young couple or even a senior citizen.

---I am not holding my breath. This is house #5. We both firmly believe and trust the good Lord; whatever will be will be.

--came home, hubby started the pizza oven outside and made homemade pizzas. 

--It was so hot and humid yesterday, today promises that as well. Summer is upon us here in the Southern Tier of NY.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts on yesterdays post. Yes, my job can be physically demanding, not everyday is like that. But I knew this when I accepted the offer. It's hard to realize one is no longer a spring chicken and my mothers words are coming back to haunt me; Make sure as you age, you stay physically active and don't get lazy. I did not heed those words. Just saying.
