Currently...

Joining in on the Currently Meme.

The weather...72* light rain, 94% humidity, 70* dewpoint. It started storming around 3 am... the last few afternoons and into the evening the weather has been darn right wild.

Watching...Last night we binged watched In with the Old. We get it from On Demand.

Thinking...the storms have been pretty crazy. While driving home the other day from work, I am telling you I survived driving through a tornado, it was wild. I might have been hyperventilating praying all the way home. HWY 441 to all the way home looked like something out of a movie, tree branches etc. I pulled into the driveway and hubby came out and told me we didn't have electricity, luckily, the Generac was running. Because it was hotter than hades.

*** Saw on the news that Jacksonville had a tornado, wild.

Feeling...much better. I took myself off the preventive cholesterol med the dr. had put me on a few weeks ago. Mind you, it was preventive...I better leave it at that. It had caused some serious side effects (never ending hives and severe constipation, swollen joints tmi) and when I called the dr. about it, she told me to get used to it. Excuse me...anyways, 72 hrs later, I feel 100% better. Time to find another dr. I have had enough of this one size fits all mentality.

Grateful...for common sense prevailing and some internet sleuthing and a husband who said, "I think it's that new med you're on that is making you sick."

Celebrating? Nothing? Made it through another work week. That's all I got to say about that. I have temporarily divorced my work husband, LOLOL. I have not seen or talked to him since the Thursday before Memorial Day when he showed up in my classroom to tell me my little vacation was cancelled in front of my class...I still took my little vacay, btw.

Laughing at...

Accurate (teacher). I had had enough, so I thru it all out, and Monday we are starting over, period. Yes, I know, there is a new teacher coming in at some point, don't care. And, that my friends is where I am at this point.

every.single.day.

every.single.day.

How can it be the end of May? Wow, time flies...only 9,000 + days to retirement, LOL.

Hope each of you have a beautiful day.

Things I can do and not do...

Good morning, I saw this over at Billie Jo's lovely blog and thought I would join in. First,

Things I can do...

*Eat the exact thing for lunch, every.single.day.

**Get up the same time every single weekday without the alarm. Every.single.day at 3 am. Why? Because I have to leave the house by 5:30 am.

***I can make a mean (aka good) potato salad and lasagna.

****I can be lazy and not do anything. Yesterday being the prime example-I watched a marathon of a new to me YouTube channel: Kirsten and Joerg.

***** I can eat 2 hamburgers. Yep, being a piggy hippo. lol

******I can change sparkplugs and oil in a vehicle.

Things I can't do...

* Do tattoos on a female; this tattoo phenomenon is just why?

**Leave the house without makeup and hair done. Sorry, no one wants to see all this without it, LOL.

*** Be around people who smoke. Period, thanks to asthma.

****Sleep without a ceiling fan and or a regular fan on me.

***** Eat shrimp or almonds; I am highly allergic to it.

****** Be in the humidity and sun, thanks to being on a blood pressure pill.

We have friends coming over today for a BBQ (hamburgers and hotdogs). So, that is about it. Thank you all for the lovely thoughts yesterday. It truly means a lot to me. Wishing you all a beautiful day.

Just this and that...

Good morning from the mouth of the dragon...gosh is it ever hot/humid. I know, two different things (hot and humid).

Just some this and that...

-So, someone here asked me what kind of sandals / flips flops do I wear on a daily basis? I wear Sketchers.
Sketchers Slides actually. They are comfortable. It is just too blasted hot to wear any other kind of shoe, just saying.

--The bookcase and desk came from Pamela's son and daughter in love back when they had Dixie Cottage.

The bookcase holds many treasures such as books, photos of our son, and some other things of his. That would also be his easy chair in the corner too. We both have rolltop desks, mine is small and the Hubbys desk is quite large and takes up a 1/2 of a wall.

---While sitting here the other day we were talking about life in general and how both of us are ready to hit the road. Yeah, crazy idea there.

But, the mortgage, this and that...yeah...ANYWAYS...And lo and behold, Millie discussed this on her blog. She said and I quote, "Don't sacrifice your family for bricks and sticks. Don't work at a job that is killing your soul, just to live beyond your means. It's not worth what you'll be giving up." Yeah...both of us have had enough of keeping up with homeownership, paying taxes, etc. I certainly don't want to be working until I die, or close to it. But that is life, right? Death and taxes. However, with that said, I am personally/professionally dragging my feet on something...and I have to wonder if it really is dragging my feet or perhaps the good Lord is saying not so fast. Does that make sense?

Then I am reminded. It hits me like a ton of bricks. Just keeping it real, folks.

That's all I got on this humid Sunday.

Currently...

Good morning from a hot and humid Florida. Joining in on the Currently.

The weather...at 7:45 am it is 73*, 83% humidity, 67* dewpoint.

Watching...getting ready to watch what I missed on my favorite YouTube video The Scottish Isle:

Loving: The donuts from Swillerbees in Daytona/Ormond. They are craft - handmade donuts.

Bahama Mama and Margarita. Yes, "adult" donuts. Hey, it was 5:00 somewhere.

Thinking: Yesterday was a good day.

We always park at the Lifeguard station (looking back from where we were). It does cost $20 to park anywhere in Daytona/Ormond. It is what it is. But it is from sunup to sundown, and you can drive on certain parts of the beach with that fee and use the facilities.

The Sunsplash was operational. My husband likes parking here because of the public bathhouse. Which is really nice and it's a short walk up from the beach.

The tide pools were pretty cool and deep.

We set up the canopy at 9 am and had a great day.

By 3 it was pretty crowded, so we packed up and went home. It was 10* cooler there, thanks to the Tradewinds. CYA next month Daytona!

Feeling...not quite ready to run a marathon, but mentally ok. Again, I wish I could figure out how to make a living from a beach chair. lolol

Celebrating...nothing really. Memorial Day. I highly recommend this video from You Tube: The Unknowns. I showed it to my classes on Thursday.

Grateful...for a nice day yesterday.

Laughing at...

I better stop, LOL. Wishing you a beautiful day!

Hodgepoding...

I am so glad Annie and Joyce post their memes on the weekends. Pre posting on Sunday.

1. May 20th is World Bee Day...what's something that's kept you 'busy as a bee' lately?

Work...and it's only a 4 day week for me. I am taking Friday off, and we are heading to the beach.

2. Do you like honey? Yes. What's something you make or enjoy that calls for honey? Hot buttered biscuits.

3. "Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body."

                                                               Proverbs 16:24

What's a proverb you love, or one that speaks to you or has helped you in some way?

I also like

The Bible is full of Proverbs, a whole book in fact, if that helps with your answer. The word proverb is defined as 'a short pithy saying in general use, stating a general truth or piece of advice'

4. Tell us about a 'sweet' moment in your life recently that filled you with joy, gratitude, or peace.

I have talked about this before, but see that rocket on my desk?

It has our late sons voice recorded on it, he was like 5-6-7 yrs. old at the time.

5. When you were a child, what did you want to 'be' when you grew up? How close did you come to that? A Pediatrician or a teacher. Yeah...guess what I am? A teacher. LOL

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I do, everyday...Have a great day.

Tuesday 4: Warm Months

Spring has come and Summer is approaching. Our friend Linda tells me the temps in Florida are already in the 90s and humidity through the roof.  But days are growing longer for everyone.  How does it affect you?

Thanks, Annie, for the shout out! Wow blew my mind, smiles.

1. Daylight is getting longer... what do you do with the extra daylight?  Well, I leave the house at 5:30 am and I see a glorious sunrise everyday while walking on the prison compound by 6:15. And I leave work by 3 pm, and I don't do much to see the sunset as I am in bed by 8 pm. That is rather sad, really. Not even on the weekends do I see the sunset, I guess I take it for granted. Is it useful, productive or not? Well, honestly, it's rather hot and humid. I rather not be out in the afternoon / evenings. Right now, as I write this on Sunday afternoon at 3:30, it is 97*.

2.  If you live where its more moderate do you spend more time outdoors?  If you live in the tropical climate, does it keep you inside? Yes, it keeps me inside. I try to be outside, but honestly, the humidity is just something to behold here.

Does the extra day light cause more heat and more use of utilities for you? We have a 1, 200 sq. ft. house/mobile home. We put in new windows and doors a couple of years ago. Our electric bill stays at or between $100-140 even in the summer. The sun stays on the front of the house all day and I/we have insulated drapes on the living room and the 2 bedrooms that face it that keep the heat out/off the windows:

The front door also has window tint. Plus, all the rooms have ceiling fans, which we replaced as well. After spending 9 years living up north without ac, I know how to make a room cooler.

3. How do you cool your home? We have central air and ceiling fans. How do you cool yourself off in the heat of the day? Well, luckily, the portable where I teach has ac, unfortunately, it's a long walk to clock out and get through security and it's in the direct sunlight and heat, so I use my umbrella. People might laugh and point, but my mom didn't raise no fool, I'll keep at that.

4. Do you enjoy a good barbeque outside in the warmer months or do you cook outside and eat inside? I like a good BBQ, and hubby prefers that as he doesn't like to heat the house up. He / the hubby also has a few areas that he has laid pavers and has tables and a gazebo etc., but I don't go out there, again, the humidity. We are looking into putting a pool in (an above ground one). However, with it being so dry right now, he is concerned about our well as it/the pool will take about 1,000 gallons of water. So, we have to wait until we get substantial rain. Here is what we are looking at for $89:
I'm not embarrassed to show it (a friend said, "What you can't afford a real pool?"), inground pools cost anywhere $50,000 +. No thanks...plus we have a small yard. My folks have a huge house and med. size inground pool and it costs them over $400 month in electricity.

What foods do you enjoy on the barbeque?  I like chicken breast and hubby likes whatever mainly ribs or a steak.  If you don't barbeque, what foods and drinks do you enjoy in the warmer months? When the days are hot and neither of feel like cooking, usually a sandwich will do.

I am not complaining, seriously...we live in Florida and the weather is pretty good for 11 months out of the year (well, not counting hurricanes, lol). Have a great day all.

Rambling 10th on the Ten....

I saw this over at another blog...Yeah, yeah, I know its way past May10. Posting this late on a Sunday.

Tiny house or lake? Give me a body of water, period. Just not a lake or river here in Florida due to alligators/crocs. I already live in a tiny house (1,200 sq. feet) and I am done with it, LOL.

Characters...could we do Shakespeare in a midwestern- southern twang? To which I have...I am afraid I would not be a very good victim if I played a character in a Stephen King movie. LOL--it would be either the bad guy or me and I choose me. LOL

Kitchen...my grandmother had a pink kitchen with pink appliances, and I truly miss that 1950's era. I currently have a white stove, black microwave and stainless-steel French door fridge. So, yeah mismatched (and no dishwasher).

Allergic...neither. I love both.

Conversation...neither. I am ok with where I am.

Rich or famous? I suppose both brings their own separate issues, right? At this point, just show me the money. LOL--I would have no problem saying no to those who have their handout. I would help the friends who have helped us along the way these past 36 something years.

Truck/car...well...since I already drive a used 2018 Hyundai Tucson, I say a brand-new truck with all the bells and whistles. It would be nice to have a new vehicle.

Parents/Kids...well, I don't have a kid to live with anymore, and my folks are still alive...however, with that said, with aging parents on both sides, I am sure decisions will have to be made.

Tattoos: Umm...excuse me, the good Lord gave me one body and it's commanded that I keep it clean i.e. no tattoos---however, with that said, my husband has two. But as for me and myself, no tattoos.

Food: My husband loves Spam as did our son...no thanks. I prefer a PBJ sandwich, and I don't really care what kind of jelly or jam. Wait, Jelly and Lettuce? Seriously, eww.

4 Day week for me. Counting the days. lol

Currently...

 Currently...Sunday May 18...

truth

Currently in my neck of the woods i.e. world...

Weather... 73* at 8 am. Humidity is 93% and dewpoint is 71*. Yeah, already balmy. Actually, it never cooled off last night.

Watching...been watching a new show on the History Channel called The Unbelievable with Dan Aykroyd.

Not loving...this humidity. Hubby wanted to go and about yesterday here and there (thrift storing). By 3 I was done. I just didn't want to be out and about anymore. Didn't find anything anyways.

Thinking...

-this new dr. has really messed with my mind. She has really ticked me off. I probably should just put it out of my mind but finding it hard to do.

--start of hurricane season will be upon us soon (June 1).

---I should invent a new word: Wilting. LOLOL---wait, that already is a word. LOLOL

Feeling...repeat parrot...I am not sure if I am cut out for the humidity. Yep, I said it. It will look this from now until like Nov. I will look like this until Nov or so. LOLOL

Hey look/Celebrating/Happy!

Found the pink check curtains. We were emptying out totes yesterday and found them. They probably could use a good ironing. But yeah, no. LOL

Also, happy that hubby left up the clothesline outside. We took a bet how long it will take for the sheets to dry today, I say 1/2 hour. He says all day...seriously, dude, its already humid. He just hung them up, let's see how long. LOL

Enjoying...the cool ac and ceiling fans. So happy that the electricity has been fixed and all rooms are operational.

Giggling at...so very accurate.

Have a great all!!! We have no plans today, hubby said he would BBQ and that is it.

Tuesday Meme and this and that...

Finally finding time to post...joining in rather late to the Tuesday Meme.

Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.
Sometimes we live in the same place where we were born and remain there all of our lives.
Sometimes we move away and never come back because of jobs, marriage, circumstances of all kinds.
Sometimes we choose where we will live and we have definite reasons for staying there even though we might be far from family.

1. Are you far from family and if so why? No, not anymore. I am less than 5 miles from my parents. Would you like to have them closer, and have you discussed that with them? Umm...5 miles are close enough and they feel the same way. Actually, various family is spread-out all-over Marion County and friends too and some less than 2 hrs away.

2. How did you come to live in the state you are in? Well, when our son suddenly passed away 4 years ago, hubby thought it best to bring me back home. My first choice was wanting to be near the coast, like on the coast and we couldn't find affordable housing, so here we are, back to our hometown, 45-60 minutes from either coast. How about the city/town. Ocala is where I / we grew up, graduated high school from etc.

3. What good things keep you living where you are? The weather, I suppose. Not to mention shopping and everything is close by. Where we lived in upstate NY, if one wanted to do any sort of shopping like TG Maxx or Target, one had to drive an hour so. Here, everything is within 5-10 miles.
What's good about your state and town? What's good? We have a really great governor (my boss), no Personal Income Taxes, property taxes are below average and so far,...just housing is very expensive right now due to the housing boom. Marion County remains the hub of the boom. Oh, and we are "free" here. No government interference.

4. What things might convince you to move to another state or just another town? I have always said this, if I can figure out how to make money sitting my beach chair sipping Mai Tai's I would. I have no desire to move to another state, I although would like to get a RV and travel, just not move.

Hubby got his shed delivered and has been on that and he also has been moving things out of the house and organizing the other 2 bedrooms. Apologies, I can't find a before.

and he put the 2 single beds in one room.

it's a work in progress. Ms. Lilybelle is enjoying it though.

Three years living here and finally getting organized. I also had my annual dr. visit with a new dr. (due to my dr. leaving) this past Monday, NOT LIKING HER at all. She and I are going to have a come to Jesus moment very soon. By Wed. I had an EKG (took all of 5 min. and still no outcome, rather rude), see a cardiologist next month, and have a Bone scan done as well next month. She is pushing whatever pharmaceutical, no issues with my blood / urine work and she wants this or that due to "study says" and age says. That's about it for here.

Have a beautiful day.

Hodgepodging...

I am trying to get caught up on the week's memes, so I am pre posting this on Sunday.

1. What's something you're curious about right now?

Hmm...not much. Really...

2. If you could plan the perfect girl's weekend getaway, where would you go and what would be on the agenda? Girl's weekend? I don't want to offend anyone, but IF I were to plan a girl's weekend, it definitely would be a hotel or house big enough for each to have their own space. Hence why I told the boss I would NOT share a room with a coworker for the conference for a week. I sure would like to stick my tongue out and act like a child on this and or go, "Nah, nah you can't make me." I am fully aware of the consequences of me telling him no, which has left me with such profound sadness. Do you have anything like this on your calendar in the next few months? Nope...just with the husband, which is my best friend.

3. What's the most unique item in your refrigerator right now? Hmm...unique? Probably

I have been eating PBJ sandwiches. Let's see, I like Blackberry and Apricot, not mixed. One or the other.

4. In this season of your life, what do you find most challenging?

Hmm...most challenging? Not sure. People who constantly lie or stir the proverbial pot.

5. Do you collect anything? If so why that?

old photo but still have it all. All but one piece survived the trip back to Florida.

Green Uranium Depression Glass. I got a problem, and I told hubby enough, I am done...no one to pass it on too, so I am going to very soon pack it up and take it to the Antique Mall and put it on consignment. I have well over 1,000 pieces and sets and some rare items in that as well.

Insert your own random thought here.

Have a great day all.
