Currently...

 Linking back to Stacy.

Currently in LaGrange, Georgia

Weather: a balmy 63* and cloudy. We had pretty bad awesome weather last night/overnight. I had forgotten how the south's weather can be; volatile.

Listening to: Complete silence. My husband and his brother left to go to the bike shop. Not even their cat is around.

Loving: This beautiful Mac Mansion that my bil and his wife live in. We have the whole upper floor-its a suite.

Thinking: Several things...

---we crossed over into Alabama earlier this morning (a short 15 min. drive from La Grange) and wished our late son a Happy Birthday. Today is his 25th (and I better leave it at that, or I will start crying again).

--- we were supposed to meet up with fellow blogger Sparky and her husband, but the trip has taken a big chunk out of us--plus the dog is not doing well at all. We will meet up again in a few weeks. We have to come back--we dropped off some valuables here ( i.e. our guns) until we can find a place to live in Fl. TMI

We decided to spend another night here and will take off tomorrow to Fl. It's another 5-7 hr. drive.

---Thinking--I love my sil's kitchen. The photo doesn't do it justice. She is a bigtime boss over at the KIA plant in West Point--unfort. she couldn't get the day off.

---Feeling how tired I am---we both are. I think we are doing way to much--and today we kind of got some closure in regards to our sons passing. It's still not like sunk in, and the pain is still there...just keeping it real. But we both feel in our hearts he was happy to be home in Alabama, albeit a short time. I could almost hear it, "THANKS GUYS!" We are going to make plans in regards to burial for a later date. In the meantime, he / cremains stay with us.

Loving...the very fact we are wearing shorts and flip flops. Yep, it's very warm.

Grateful...for family and friends

Sunday Musings...

Linking back to Monica and this will be my last post for a while. I know most of you are on FB and you can follow me there. I don't have Blogger on my phone, just FB.

Time: 8 am on a very cold Sunday morning (28*) with snow flurries. The weather doesn't look to great all the way to 'Cincy.

Scene: Boxes everywhere. And I do mean everywhere. We got a shock yesterday when the moving company called and said they would be here today/Sunday to move us between 2-5. We worked well past 11 pm last night...

Today's Plan: Well...moving. Going to load the car/SUV and await the moving company.

Drinking: OJ we went over to Burger King. Since our niece came over yesterday and cleaned us out, i.e., took everything out of the pantry, cupboards, fridge and freezer.  Yep. And so happy she did because I sure hated to throw it all out.

P.S. The coffee maker is packed up and when say there is nothing to eat or drink, there is NOTHING to eat or drink.

Listening too: Hubby is telling me to get a move on it. The snow has temp. stopped and he wants to get the SUV loaded.

P.S. On that note, I swear to you we both heard Liam's voice this morning. "Hey guys, rise and shine, its moving day! Get moving." This was at 4:30 am. Strangest thing. We both must be that tired and hyped up. I'll go with both.

Reading: Just plotting the trip count? 6 hours to Columbus, Ohio. Not sure if we will make it that far, depending on the moving company arrival/finishing.

Pondering: The trip. And by Friday we will be in sunny and warm Florida.

See you soon!

An Update

 ...and the Moving Company called...

AND

We're leaving tomorrow! As in Sunday! I'll try to check in when I can. I haven't been able to stop bawling and laughing...and somehow, I can hear the good Lord saying, "Wanna make me laugh? Tell me your plans!"

Currently...

Good morning from western/ the Southern Tier of New York. Linking back to Stacy.

Reading: Absolutely nothing. Wait, does a filling out a change of address/mail hold count?

Listening too: My husband is getting up and around; I got up earlier. The furnace came on.

Loving: 48 hours to go folks. 48 HOURS and we will be heading to sunny and very warm Florida.

Thinking: I was very touched by the kindness my boss showed yesterday afternoon when I was called back to the warehouse. He gave a nice pizza going away lunch gathering. I was wondering all morning why all 6 of us were working. It was very odd to say the least especially with all of them coming around and standing there smiling and pretty much stalking me all morning ((grin)). Management even came around...I was so touched, and they even made me cry...yep. I had no idea they cared so much--and honestly, I thought I was going to escape the goodbyes. Nope

Feeling: Somewhat relieved I don't have to work for the next 2 weeks. ACTUALLY, I am a little tired, but honestly a little refreshed. If that makes any sense.

Celebrating: 48 hours to go folks. And then the unknown adventure begins. OH, and my employer gives out birthday cakes and I got mine yesterday. I have been so tired the last few days, I forgot to pick it up on Wednesday. It is a nice yellow single layer cake with white buttercream frosting with yellow roses.

Grateful: for so many things; family, friends etc.

Enjoying:  Being unemployed (grin). I still have 2 paychecks coming so that will be nice.

Weather: 35* and cloudy and snow will be incoming. SNOW yep. It is supposed to be only 20* on moving day.

A quote: We were watching Lottery Dream Homes last night and it was Arizona, and I was like...why would anyone want to live in a state that is nothing but brown? LOLOL OH yeah, it's the desert. lol

Have a great day all. I will try to catch up with y'all later.

Thankful Thursday...

I haven't done any Thankful Thursdays in a while.

Thankful for...the sweet Birthday Comments, emails, IM'S, FB messages etc. Really brightened my day. ALTHOUGH I had no intention of celebrating.

Thankful for...my coworkers Trisha (who works in Receiving) and one of my bosses, Dan.

What a lovely gesture; a card and my favorite French Vanilla Muffin which will be eaten this morning. I did not have time yesterday. I prob should of have taken a photo of the muffin, it is as big as the bag.

Thankful for...also the store manager who had the day off but was in shopping and he stopped by Bulk and wished me a Happy Birthday as did multiple folks. HEY FOLKS, I REALLY DIDN'T NEED A REMINDER I AM STEP CLOSER TO 60. (GRIN)

Thankful for...my husband who couldn't decide on cards and so he bought 2 cards and for the Shalimar Guerlain perfume.

Thankful for...1 more day of work. Friday can't come any faster. Because that means Monday moving day is right around the corner. grin

Yep...have a beautiful day folks.

Happy Birthday

Thank you all for your kind comments, emails, IM'S etc. the last couple of posts...they have meant so much to us. I simply can't seem to get it going--i.e.. responding. No excuses, but I will say, I am overwhelmed by the love and support.

Yep, that's right...I am 55 today. 55! Where have the years gone? I have to work until 1 today. Oh, and I am internally grateful for yesterday as the bossman let me go home an hour and half early-ran out of work to do. Oh, and he might have said (and repeats it throughout out the day; something about being on beach time, LOL.), "I know your already on beach time, Linda. So get outta' here. Have a enjoyable afternoon." Yeah, that is where I am:

I for one, am looking forward to not having to wear "work shoes"...my toes need to be freed. LOLOL

Tuesday 4'ing it...

Thank you all for the kind comments from yesterday. Back to work today. Oh, and for those who are asking, I don't have a new address yet. Our goal is to get a PO Box as soon as we get down there. Have you seen this new show on HGTV called 100 Day Dream Home? It is out of Tampa, FL. Anyways, they had a couple who had been living in their 25 ft. travel trailer for 13 months. I had to laugh...yeah, that is going to be us soon.

Welcome to Tuesday 4 which is going up late as auto post failed yet again.  I suppose I will have to stop using it once and for all.  Anyway, Here is Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4. Better late than never.

Which one do you prefer?

1. Picnic by the water or backyard BBQ?

Both. I like both. But we all know I like the 'water', LOL. P.S. As soon as we get settled, we will be having a BBQ to welcome new and old friends. smiles

2. Spring or Autumn? Got reasons?

Autumn...which I will no longer be getting. There is just something magical about the changing of the seasons; leaves, the chill in the air etc...and like the change of seasons, its ok to accept change.

3. Cup of Tea or Cup of Coffee?  'splain it to us Lucy... if you don't mind!

Cup of Coffee. No need to explain...which I can't anyways.

4. A weekend at home or one spent out and about?

Since I currently have a demanding and physical job, I say home...although my adventure awaits next week. grin

Front Porch...thoughts

Although currently the "front porch" chairs are packed up I will link back to Monica. I have been so busy working and packing I haven't been able to attend to the blog/comments, emails, IM's (much), snail mail etc. And for that, so sorry.

from a few summers ago.

Time: almost 9 am. I slept in. Surprisingly. No work today-thankfully I do not have to work inventory today. Yesterday was enough of that nonsense, just saying.

Scene: A brisk 36* (real feel 31) bright and sunny.

Today's Plan: I plan on taking the day off from everything. Which brings the thought, who am I kidding? Bahwaaaaaaaa

Drinking: My first cup of coffee with Sweet Cream.

Listening to: Hmm...actually nothing. Hubby is pretty quiet. Which has me concerned; he recently had his 56th birthday and he was all alone as I had to work until 8pm. Not a single call from his family, not a single visit etc. And I know it has him in down in the dumps---I probably should leave it at that as its taboo to talk about depression (which I think he is, but since its 'taboo' and men don't talk about it...).

Pondering: Above. These last 3 months have really taken a toll on us both. To which it brings me to the countdown:

4 days left of my current job and 7 days to move. Which brings another set of issues? But nonetheless, we are moving.

?

...some of you have asked what will I be doing in Florida? Or am I retiring. That answer is no. I will have a job. I have a job interview for the public library.

...We also have to find a place to live...which has caused some issues between us because the job I am interviewing for is 30 miles from where we are staying (in our friends RV). My husband is adamant about staying in our hometown and us having only one vehicle at this time. But at the same time, with the price of gas going up and up...and that is a real concern. But at the same time, I personally feel I ought not give up my dream(s) and doing what I want to do...and that sounds really selfish, and I know it. There it is...I have always done what the role of being a wife is...I'll be 55 this week and only have 10 yrs. or so left for retirement. 55? When did I get so old?

Currently...

Currently finding time to muster out a blog post. Sorry folks, this is my last weekend to work (been working all week). I am super-duper tired and barely able to stand up.

Currently...

The Weather is 49* and been pouring rain since 2:30 am.

I'm Listening...hubby is on the phone with his brother. I am tired of hearing how we are going to leave him and his mother behind. 9 more days...just saying.

I'm loving...there are only 9-days left and believe me we are counting the days down.

I'm Thinking...Can't wait to literally get moving. Looking forward to seeing old and new friends and family, grin.

I'm Feeling...tired and rundown. I am hoping this last week of work will go super-duper fast.

I'm Celebrating...not really celebrating as I have to work until 8 pm then back in at 8 am tomorrow. But my husband's 56th Birthday is today.

I keep forgetting it's only the 2 of us...sad to say...and thank you Ann R. for the lovely birthday card.

I'm grateful...to my coworkers and boss--they have been filled with questions and "ribbing" me all week. I simply don't believe in goodbyes, but here we are. I also found out via the grapevine I received an excellent job reference(s). As sad as they are to let me go, they sure are helping me.

Ides of March Hodgepodge

Marching into the Ides of March Hodgepodge...and marching off to work.

1. It's March 15th and as the saying goes-"Beware the Ides of March". Have you read or studied much Shakespeare? Do you have a favorite Shakespeare play?

Yes, the 'Scottish Play' aka MacBeth...one isn't supposed to mention the real name (MacBeth) as its considered cursed. I always thought that was funny and very true.  LOL

How do you feel about a Caesar salad?

I love Caesar salad especially with grilled chicken.

2. Have you ever been to Rome? If so, what do you love about the city? If not, any desire to go?

Never been...but would like to visit.

3. What's your favorite place to 'roam'?

Well, we all know I love Keuka Lake here in western NY and I also love Canada. But I have a feeling I will be doing a lot of roaming in our new homeland of Florida.

4. Do you like pizza? Love it, it's a food group, right? Thick or thin crust? Thin. I do like Chicago style; thick.  Red sauce-white sauce-other? I like red sauce, but I also like white with truffles. Your favorite toppings? Everything but anchovies. How do you feel about pineapple on a pizza? Ewwwwwwww. My husband loves it.

5.  'Rome wasn't built in a day'...tell us how this expression applies to something in your home-life-job currently (or recently)?

I'll be honest here and say grieving...right now...it is just what it is.

Insert your own random thought here.

and

...did you know Caeser was forewarned about his death?

...The Ides were sacred and marked a monthly sacrifice to the Roman god Jupiter.

...on March 15, 1917, Csar Nicholas II was forced to abdicate and thus ending the 300-year rule of the Romanov family. We all know what happened to the family in July of 1918.

Tuesday Meme

Welcome to Tuesday 4 by Toni Taddeo...

Let's do one of Toni's last Tuesday 4 posts published December 9, 2019.

Look Annie what I found in my files!

A Repeat ~ Just Wondering

1.   When was the last time you tried something new?

New? Like bungee jumping? LOL--NEW? hmm...gotta' think on that one.

2.   Who in your family do you compare yourself to?

My late paternal grandmother as she was short and stocky like I am, while both my parents and brothers are tall.

3.   What lesson in life did you learn the hard way?

No lying, tell the truth as its easier to remember.

4.   What can you do today that you weren't able to do before?

Financially able to move...oh it won't be easy money wise, but it's much easier to afford things when I had a job/working. Things have been easier since I am able to work.

...and folks, that is where I am right now.

Currently...

I am linking back to sweet Stacy for the Currently Meme.

It's Monday and Currently in Western New York...

...weather is at 28* and supposed to be in the 50's today.

Reading...nothing. I am far too busy. Plus, I just got up not long ago (around 7:45 am), I did sleep in. I am so exhausted from packing and working.

I'm Listening to...the furnace just came on. Hubby is chit chatting about the news/Ukraine/Russia. I am not really listening--and he knows it-grin.

What I'm smelling (I added that one, lol)...hubby and his cooking Corn Beef Hash--ewwww.

I'm loving...the very fact 2 more Monday's we will be heading home. I am.just.ready.to.get.going. period.

I'm thinking...I really ought to remember to take more photos. I was thinking the other day, if only I knew then what I know now (did I say that right?)...and I would of taken more photos (in regard to our late son telling me he didn't have many photos of me/his mom...and now look...the role is reversed). I most def. took life for granted.

I'm feeling...tired. Just plum tired. This week for work is 36 hrs. and next week, my last week is 32.

I'm celebrating...hopefully today I will get through packing my dresser and this cabinet that holds makeup etc. Actually, I am thinking...Linda, there is no excuse on why you can't get through it. Although hubby is telling me to take the day off period and if I wanted to sit around and do nothing, then fine...yeahhhhhhhhh....if only.

I'm grateful...for all the emails, snail mails, FB IM's, FB comments, and comments here...truly I am. I am also grateful for the kindness my employer has shown and my fellow coworkers.

***on that note...I am really far behind in answering all the above.

A quote...grin

Simple Women's Daybook

A very late post...linking back to Monica.

Today is March 12 and there are 2 Saturdays left to go for the big move.

Outside...its 6:45 pm and it's getting dark, and the real feel is 2* with blowing snow. We have had so much snow the last 12 hours.

Thankful for...my folks are alright; shaken by a tornado that blew in Ocala earlier today.

Thinking...About the move...oh and they hired within for the job I was after--I was hired but then a person took the job...and its ok...I have other applications out. It's all good. All on HIS timing, not mine. AND I am ok, honest.

Wearing...I got home from work early. The store was dead--the storm kept folks away and the bossman came by around 3:30 and asked me did I want to leave (boy, was I willing). ANYWAYS, sitting here in pj's; flowered long sleeve and long sleep pants. HA! Old lady pj's. LOLOLOLOL

**P.S.  I did not mean to upset anyone with that thought the other day. Some of these shirts/clothes out are darn right ugly.

Creating...well, I am going to put on a pot of Decaf coffee. These bones are cold--it was so hot in the store---I wanted to fall asleep, and I will say, a dairy truck came in and it was nice and cold...I might have gone and stood in it while they were unloading it, LOL. The bossman thought it was funny.

Going...to bed by 8 or so...have to work tomorrow 8 am-4:30.

Praying...goodness gracious...when I am not praying...something has been on my heart for a while...lost souls...something my son was adamant about (praying and winning those lost folks).

Learning...

In the Kitchen...well nothing. I bought home dinner from employer-hubby had salmon and I had ravioli. If you count the decaf I put on...then coffee.

Around the homestead...I really need to pack my dresser and make up area...I did not work on it Friday. Hubby sold his lawn mower and weed trimmer and some tools today. That is like 30 something items we have sold.

I am afraid to say this, but each day the war drums/nuclear talk beat louder and louder.

Hodgepodging...

Thank you all for the kind comments. Yesterday was really busy and I didn't have much time. Luckily, I only work until 1 today.

1. Where do you get your news these days?

The MSM news is so bias...however, I do have resources other than the MSM. I rather not say because most of the folks don't want to hear it.

2. It's National Crab Day...do you like crab meat? Yes. I like crab meat. What makes you crabby? Lately, MSM and folks who are so blind to the truth.

3. Does freedom mean more choices? Have you ever felt there were too many choices? Elaborate.

Your choices that you make have consequences and no, there are never too many choices. That is the truth. Freedom? We shall not go there. What our forefathers intended isn't exactly what we are living. Folks are so blind and continue to be blind...remember 2 weeks to stop the spread? Now the government knows they can control us as We the People allowed it.

4. Barbara Millicent Roberts was introduced to the world on March 9, 1959...that's Barbie to most of us. Did you have Barbies as a kid, or did you let your own children play with Barbies? What well known Barbara (living or not) would you most like to meet?

I had multiple Barbies and my son refused to play with dolls, lol. I don't know any Barbara's other than my sister in-law.

5. What are three things you value most in another person?

Honesty, Faithfulness, Optimism

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Yesterday was a busy day; went to Buffalo, then to Geneseo...had to find some shirts as all my items are packed away in non-descript boxes (can you tell it bothers me? grin)---and I came back with 4 t shirts and a pack of underwear. Yeah, exciting, huh? Fashion up here is like b-o-r-i-n-g--no summer or spring items are out. And I simply refuse to wear what is out-flowered shirts and such. I  might be old, but I refuse to dress like it, just saying.

Meme Filled Tuesday

It's a Meme Filled Tuesday y'all. Please excuse my absence, working, working, working. Thank you all for the kind comments, emails and snail mail...I am falling so far behind in being a good friend.

First up is from my good friend  Monica

1 - What's the weather like today in your neck of the woods?

It's currently 29* and real feel is 20* and its snowing/sleeting. After yesterday of extreme winds and heavy rain and mild temps, its back to being miserable cold.

2 - Are you making any short term or long-term plans?

LOL. M-O-V-I-N-G-here is today's list:

--Have to go over to the Antique Mall to pick up a check, he sold some of our depression glass that I had put on consignment.

--Walmart or Target. Since the husband packed all my summer clothes except for a pair of shorts and clam diggers. I need to at least buy some short sleeve shirts/t shirts. Once we cross into Kentucky/Tennessee, it gets warm. I won't survive with winter gear, lol. I'll worry about 'work clothes' once we get to Florida. BECAUSE the Lord only knows what box that is in!

--Need to unpack my dresser drawers, BEFORE the husband gets to it. Need to pack my suitcase and make up etc., again, before the husband gets to it (he is threatening to do this).

3 - It's March, do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day?

We used to go bar hopping; this town celebrates its Irish heritage. Not this year, I am working and we are busy with the move. Plus, neither of us feel like it...we really are suffering from the blues---AND with that said, we know our son wouldn't want us to be this way, but there it is.

4 - If you are a reader what do you prefer to read? Fiction or nonfiction and what is your favorite genre?

I like both. I also like those cozy mysteries that are easy to read.

5 - Front Porch decor? Do you have a front porch? Do you decorate it or not?

Oct.

We do have a front porch but everything is packed up now and ready to go. Not even a wreath is on the front door. It looks kind of sad actually.

OH and one more thing: 6 - What are you drinking today?

My second cup of Wegmans (my employer) Breakfast coffee with Italian Sweet Cream.

Welcome back!  Thank you so much for joining in with Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

I hope you are enjoying these.

There are some things we just enjoy quite a lot. Let's talk about it okay?

1. Which book could you read over and over again?

The Harry Potter series. Which reminds me, David, where are my books? (in a non descript box, sigh).

2. What movie or TV program could you watch and never tire of watching?

I really like the Magnolia Channel and the shows it offers. The Sound of Music comes to mind for the movie.

3. What meal do you like enough to eat several times a week or several times a month?  Got a recipe to share for it?

Pizza is a food group, right? grin---and my recipe? "Hello, Giovannis?" LOLOLOL

4. What place do you enjoy so much that you go back again and again? Why do you like it so much?

I really like and love Canada and it's easy to get too (only 80 miles to Buffalo). Unfort. with the covid nonsense, the border remains closed to nonvaccinated folks...plus, because of that and the communist running that beautiful country, we will never go back.

Have a beautiful day all.

P.S. We are arguing about the best route to take. I say Philadelphia and he says Ohio. Philly, VA, NC, SC, GA, we hit traffic. We have to go too Georgia and make 2 pit stops (grin, Sparky and Steve). We will skip Alabama for now.

Simple Woman's Daybook

I'm going to link back to Monica, since I saw this on her blog. Hopefully, that won't get in anyone's craw over social etiquette.

Today is March 6, 6:40 am

Outside...starting to turn light out. 50* with incoming rain and high winds.

Thankful...
1.for the work crew and my boss who all of sudden all have turned into 'Chatty Cathy's'--more so than normal. Bunch of silly men aka little boys.

2. Although I am very tired, thankful for the 37-40 hr. work weeks. Will remain so until March 25th, my last day.

Thinking...3 more Sundays and then we will be on our way to the Land of Plenty ie Florida.

Wearing...still my pj's; sleep shorts/camo with pink top that says Sunday Funday.

Creating...nothing really.

Going...to work later today. Late shift 11:30 am to 8 pm.

Wondering...about all these foolish people who are falling for this administration hook line and sinker. There is a great article on Townhall. Alot of folks are just falling for the bait and switch; wag the dog scenario.

Reading...nothing. Does online House Hunting count?

Praying...so many prayers; friends, family, moving, peace, common sense etc.

Looking forward to...M-O-V-I-N-G

In the Kitchen...not one thing. We have been buying frozen meals or eating out.

Around the Homestead...

I haven't taken a new photo...but hubby has rearranged everything ie. in the Boys/ Staging room to accommodate more boxes. So, Packing and getting ready. Both of us are finding some peace in knowing where our son is. No, it's not easy...and we firmly believe he knows that were moving. We are living so much Faith right now.

Quote:

Boom, there it is. The truth...hope each of you have a beautiful day. I have Tuesday off, so I can play catch up then.

Thankful Thursday

...I am also thankful for each of you and your kind comments, snail mail and emails.

...Thankful for 3 more Thursdays and then we're off on a grand adventure.

oh wait, 3 more Thursdays? Should I be overwhelmed and have a wide range of emotions? (grin)

...Thankful for my husband's word; Land of Plenty which I like better than the word of Freedom. grin---if only I can remember the word(s). LOL

...my employer has decided starting tomorrow to make masks optional for the employees. Me thinks the upcoming elections have these bleeding-heart liberals very worried (and for good cause). Rumor mill has it at a trial run. Majority of employees are very wary and expect the masks to come back on.

P.S. I am on a 37-hour work week up into my last day of working...so my time visiting or replying to y'all might be a little slow.

Marching into the Hodgepodge

Marching into the Hodgepodge at 5:30 am.

1. Somehow, it's March? Is it coming in like a lion where you live?

Actually, it was like 40* yesterday but no worries, another winter storm is expected.

Tell us one fun thing on your March calendar.

M-0-V-I-N-G to freedom i.e. Florida. My husband calls it / freedom another thing, but right now, I can't think of it. He is very much better at idioms than I am. LOL

2. In what way(s) do you 'march to the beat of your own drum'?

I'm very much a traditionalist and I have no fashion sense. I really would like for someone to take me aside and go, "Hey, you really need a makeover girlfriend."

3. The Hodgepodge lands on Dr. Seuss Day (March 2nd). Do you like eggs?

I love eggs. How about ham? I love ham.

Share a favorite quote from one of his books.

4. Have you read Little Women? How about Alice in Wonderland? Did you love them, like them, feel just eh about them? I love both books. Why is this question in the Hodgepodge today? Does it have something to do with Women's Day?

5. How do you meal plan? How often do you shop for groceries? One homemade meal that was on your menu last week or is on your menu this week?

No homecooked meals lately. Everything packed away, pots, pans, dishes, etc. Neither of us have felt like eating much anyways since our son passed away (just keeping it real). We have little meals here and there nothing big. We did though yesterday go to Marinos and had lunch. It was nice.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Speaking of Alice in Wonderland, that quote has been on my mind. Our adventure begins soon, and I have a feeling I will be without coffee or tea for a while. 26 something days...grin.
