Good evening. I hope this post finds each of you in great spirits. It has been storming since 3 pm, no fun running out to your vehicle, lol. Not complaining, it is nice to see the rain. So, time to join in (rather late) for the Tuesday Meme. So, pull up a chair and grab your favorite drink (I'm presently drinking a cup of Honduran coffee).
1. What special memories do you have about summer when you were younger? Oh gosh, when we were kids, I was shipped off to my paternal grandparents in Chicago. Then, Michigan. My grandpa didn't know what to do with a girl (lol) so he took me to horse races where he would send me up to the window to place a bet, then to O'Hara to people watch, he taught me to pick locks...gosh, those were the days, LOL.
2. What is the highest temperature you've experienced in summer? Gosh...I can remember hot summers in Chicago where my grandparents didn't have ac and we would carry the mattresses down to the cold basement...anyways, I grew up here in Florida, so it was always hot. LOL --What about so far this summer? UGH How do you weather the heat or humidity? Central AC, folks, central ac and the pool. I told hubby when we moved back, I will have a pool, even if it meant a little kiddy plastic pool. It took nearly 4 years to get the above ground pool, LOL.
3. What's been on your menu so far this summer? UGH...sandwiches, fruit, some pasta dishes, hot dogs...things that are light. I really would like roast beef. You know, the kind my mom used to make with carrots and potatoes.
4. What is on your reading list this summer... anything to recommend to us? Hmm...I have two books sitting on the ottoman and I have not touched them, sigh. What's on your TV this summer. I like Castle Impossible and yet to watch the season ending of that show...a lot of HGTV and YouTube. Any music you're liking this summer? My usual, ACDC, Cinderella and some others.

P.S. Big oops, I forgot all about my regular dr. appt. I asked hubby did they call and he said no...hmm...goes to show you they don't care, I suppose. sigh.
Hi Linda....Hope you are enjoying your start to a nice weekend. We have been having thunderstorms around here. The lightning really scares me! Gosh..I remember when I was way young, not having air conditioning...I look back now and I have no idea how we survived those long HOT nights. My kiddos are in Florida and are enjoying the beach...wish I was there with them.. Y'all have a great weekend..
ReplyDeleteI like roast beef too. I got a really good price for a pot roast a couple weeks ago so we're having it with potatoes and carrots. Yum. I also bought a huge London broil that we had last week.

Don't get me started on doctors again!! LOL We didn't have AC in Ohio, where I grew up...but it didn't get hot there like it does here. A box fan in the window worked great when I got hot in August - for about two weeks. LOL Wishing you a restful weekend, Linda! Stay dry and stay cool! xo
ReplyDeleteYOur grandpa sounds like he was a real "hoot". You had some interesting times for sure! LOL. And yes, those of us who are "older" all grew up w/o air conditioning, yes, here in Florida. There was no AC in our house, our car, our schools, our churches...there might have been in some businesses, but we didn't stay there for long enough to notice. Somehow we all survived and lived to tell about it, but I sure wouldn't want to go back to those days! We've been "conditioned" to living with AC for so long, there's no turning back! And yes, the afternoon storms here can be a little daunting if you have to drive in them or get in and out of the car/house...but I am SO thankful for the rain. We just need MORE! Oh, I love Castle Impossible too! I do hope they renew the show for next season. Can't wait to see the baby!! I hope you enjoy your weekend and get to do something fun...or just relax in your pool before the lightning hits! Take care and stay "cool".

ReplyDeleteI was very young when my parents got our first a/c, and I remember how wonderful it was. Living where I do it would be awful without a/c.
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing about your time with you grandparents! My Daddy loved us girls but he treated us just the same as our brother. We learned to change the oil and tires, shoot a gun...all the things. I can remember going to the store and buying a pack of cigarettes, for one parent or the other, at the ripe age of 5 years old. Yep...good times!
ReplyDeleteThe rain and cooler temps yesterday afternoon were so refreshing. On our bike ride this morning, there was even some fog!
ReplyDeleteI, too, remember childhood days with no air conditioning. How on earth did I survive? (LOL) I'm getting so frustrated by all the yummy recipes shown on line that require turning on the oven. Nope. Not happening until November. Maybe December.
