Hmm...Saturday

Good morning. I know all the rage right now is about that winter storm. Of course, I am wondering, no name? They always name them. What's up with that? 🙄

Here in the land of sunshine, palm trees, lollipops and unicorns, all is fine (I made those last two up).🤣

🌴Currently at the Homestead🏖️

Weather...currently 57* & partly cloudy at 7:10 am. Today is supposed to be 78*, yesterday was quite warm and humid with thoughts of having to turn the central ac on, in January. Which honestly, I am not too keen on. It's January. No worries, by Monday night it will be 29*, thanks y'all northerners for that cold. Y'all can keep it🤣.

On that thought...in a few short months we will be in hurricane season. So sorry for the winter storm, been there, done that, lived through it. NOT ever going to do it again. Some of you might be happy to know the Atlantic water temp in Daytona is only 64*, way too cold.

Enjoying...the bit of warmth before it gets cold again. Soon, I will be complaining about the extreme humidity. Us humans are never happy, right?

Watching/watched...The only thing I remember from last night was I got through Jesse Watters and started Lottery Dream Home and that was it, Apparently allegedly, I fell asleep.

On my phone camera...these cute placemats that was in one of the boxes my mom gave me.

I probably should have picked up the lacy one before I took the photo. No worries, the round ones will be on the table after Valentines Day.

Thinking...

--hubby just asked me what we were doing today. DOING? was my question back to him. I was joking. I know we have to put gas in my truck, run to a few places. Our usual things.

--Taxes. Need to get that around to file. The gvt. took out $10,000 in taxes etc. from me. Yikes, I hate to see what tax bracket I am going to be in and how much I am paying.

--Another work meeting was called for Tuesday. Me thinketh it might have to do with a suggestion I made. Long story short, I am contracted for 3 hours of teaching my class, and I am not getting 3 hours due to count and chow. Anyways, that was noticed and so far, my boss has kept the vultures out...but they continue to circle. ANYWAYS, I made a simple suggestion of changing my hours (yet again) back to 6:30-2:30 and have class from 7-10 and that leaves me to teach the other 2 classes (I am not contracted for). The lightbulb moment from him was amazing. However, that leaves a coworker/ the technology teacher having to schedule her classes differently. That didn't go over well with her...nonetheless, I believe the meeting will be productive either way. Give and take. She was ordered to make it work and come up with a plan by Tuesday, we shall see come Tuesday. I share an office with her, and I know all of this because she is very vocal about it, LOL. "THANKS CONLEY!!!!" is all I have heard...Come Feb. 1, we have a set curriculum so things will be much easier. Growing pains is what I call it. The education dept. has grown so much in the last year and continues to evolve.

Making me smile...

Extremely accurate. LOL

  1. I usually don't pay attention, but this storm's name is Fern. I immediately thought of Charlotte's Web when I heard it. It is 10 degrees here at the moment and we are in waiting mode for the storm (under a winter storm warning through Sunday or early Monday). Pretty placemat, Linda. Hope your errand running is productive. Have a pleasant day.

  2. Sunshine and Palm trees sounds good here in the land of snow and more snow - and a current temp of -10!
I think your suggestion is a good one - hope it works out!

  3. They decided to name this storm FERN. I hope most of their predictions are wrong as far as the extreme weather, but it’s zero here with the windchill of -15🙁

  5. I'm grinning, on account our weather is behaving the same way. Good grief -- I was never much a clothes horse and now I have to change attire 3 times a day just to stay comfortable.

  6. Can't seem to get my comment to post... Hunkering down for the weekend as we are supposed to get 6 - 10 inches of snow and it is -3 degrees right now. Hope you have a great weekend!

  8. I have a name for this winter garbage but I can't say it! I am right in the thick of it and I hate snow, ice and anything else related to winter, so I can put some names of it! I hope the meeting goes well and things get a bit easier for you. I know you would love getting home at a decent hour.

    Grace & Peace

  9. From the Internet: "The significant winter storm impacting the United States in late January 2026, bringing extreme cold, snow, and ice, has been named Winter Storm Fern by The Weather Channel."

  10. I hope thing get better at work. I work with a few that always seem to make things difficult. I really love my job except for them. Hey 57* sounds good to me...it's only 11* here.

  11. Such pretty placemats. I look forward to seeing how you do them. Is the kitchen remodel still on hold now until hubby gets the cataract surgery done? Just wondering. I'm sure you'd both love to get it done, but first things first. I hope the scheduling at work gets fixed to your advantage. Geepers on the taxes. I hope you have some good deductions, although I know nowadays that's harder to do unless you have some really big medical bills or other things that qualify. That's a lot to give the government! Yes, glad we are having a little bit of warmer weather this weekend before the deep freeze comes back next week. Gotta cover my plants back up again, those that survived the last freeze. Take care my friend, and try to relax tomorrow!!
