Good morning, after a warmer day yesterday, we are back to chilly weather and much needed rain and another freeze warning. Thank you for your kind words on yesterday's post.💕
Currently...Joy of Just Living. So, this thought came to me yesterday...I do think we (as a collective whole) are just plain tired...between the busyness of life, 24-hour news, employment, family/home obligations and so on. The joy of just living shouldn't be just about those things and even pretending everything is ok. Because, if you were being honest with yourself, you would know to just stop and change all that pressure you put yourself under. It's ok to just say No and / or give yourself a time out. I think our brains have been programmed to feel guilty -- if we are not constantly doing something productive until finally one collapses into bed.
So, slow down...smell that coffee or flowers, watch a movie (or two), sit in front of the tv all day, read a book, eat a cookie (or two or three)...just relax. It's ok. Take a deep breath, it will be ok...enjoy doing nothing, besides, do you really need to stay busy to enjoy life?
Until next time my friends...

This is the best stress reliever for me: "God will keep in perfect peace the person who trusts in Him." Isaiah 26:3
ReplyDeleteHold the cookies, I want a cupcake. Linda, you are so right about everything you wrote in this post. I attended a stitching event yesterday and it totally boggles my mind that 95% of the people in attendance had their phones on the table and/or were on them. I wanted to say put them away and chat with the people at your table or walk around and chat with others. I hope you have restful day.
ReplyDeleteGreat advice Linda. My word for the year is Still/Stillness. I have been exercising this a lot lately and it feels so good. We have much cooler temps around here this weekend. Had to really cover our pool pump.. Hope your week is filled with lots of heart felt GOOD moments.
ReplyDeleteAMEN! Linda, I could not agree more. Madison told me she read something recently that said our bodies and our brains are not made to be exposed to all this information, especially the way it is presented. It used to be that we knew what was happening in-our world, our neighborhood, our families. Now we have the entire world, good and bad at our fingertips. The constant barrage of information is too much, especially when one is scrolling. You see something horrible like a horrible accident, and before you can react or process, you have scrolled on to someone making a funny skit. I agree with you. We can stop and just be! And...don't let society make us feel badly about it! Thanks for sharing, my friend.
ReplyDeleteWe all need to slow down and be still, Linda. This crazy world always makes us think we should get up and go, but God wants to simply spend time in His presence. May you have a blessed Sunday!
ReplyDeleteGood advice my friend! The part where you said we've been programmed to feel guilty really hit me. I agree!
ReplyDeleteGood question, Linda!
ReplyDeleteNot me! Now I think it's time to find something sweet.
Thank you for this reminder. Sometimes we all need to take a step back and allow ourselves to just breathe and not feel so pressured by outside sources to keep "performing". Or sometimes it may be "inside sources", our own voice in our head telling us we need to do this or that or keep going no matter how tired or worn out we are. Sometimes we need to just "Be Still, and Know that I am God"...(Psalm 46:10) and enjoy the moment of peace. Thank you for this reminder. I bet a lot of us needed that today. How is Dave doing? Been praying for his eye, and also the upcoming surgery. Please keep us posted. (((HUGS))) for both of you.
ReplyDeleteWe need those times to reset, regroup, recharge, reconnect . . . re, re , re. It's REmarkable what REst can do.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny 'cause one of my devotionals today was about slowing down and stop being so busy. It's hard to listen to God if our heads are full of such nonsense. Good advice.
ReplyDeleteHope your week is better, more relaxing.
It's gotten cold and wet here in SE Georgia. The weather people said it might snow but it never did ... who knows what tomorrow may bring though! ❄️😁
Sending prayers for you both. Love ya. 💓
Wise words, Linda. So hard to do though, isn't it? I give myself the "slow down! It doesn't have to be perfect nor does it have to be right now" talk all the time. I hope you have a good week and just slow down and live!
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Pam
I read yesterday's post and will certainly be praying for your hubby. Hate he had the retina issue at the same time as the other. I know that can be serious! Praying all goes well this week. And yes, it's sad our world is on go!go!go! all the time. I think it's a lot of what's wrong with all of us today. I sure do miss simpler times.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, my cousin once told me to choose my battles wisely. We were talking about kids at the time. That must have been about 30 years ago, but it was good advice that I still use today. I hope your husband gets well soon. I know your kitchen will be beautiful when it is all done. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLinda...YES! David and I were just talking about this yesterday, but pertaining to the modern day church. That's a whole topic in itself. But I recently watched a great video on YT about a lady who is 60 and retired and said she is no longer searching for her purpose. She is now just about living her life and enjoying it. And I loved that. I think we are all overworked, have too much information, connected to too many people we don't need to know and too stressed. I really don't think it's what God intended.
ReplyDeleteLarry and I are retired now so there's not much outside busy time. We try to take it a day at a time.

I totally agree with you sweet friend! Just relax! :)
ReplyDeleteLearning to say no was the best thing for me, so your advice is right on! I'm hurrying through posts again but am happy to be here!! Yes! Slow down! xo
