Decided to lighten up a bit...Saturday hubby had to go to Tractor Supply (ok, just a thought, what is considered essential or not? How's come the liquor store is open but yet, the gun shops are ordered closed? Hmm...just a thought). He knew I would tag along, because the chicks are in.
I just love visiting the chicks, grin.
Of course, truly, why do I need more towels?
Impulse buy. Like I need more kitchen towels.
Ramblings
Changes will be coming to the Conley household, I am afraid. Where we will end up is anyone's guess. Our mayor has perm. closed the public library due to the virus and no funding...which is odd because we have an endowment from the late Andrew Carnegie, the money is gone, all gone (hard to suck on that lemon), also the mayor has once again imposed another 2.9% tax increase. So, it is what it is. Not sure about signs or whatever, but my job prospect and my sons job prospect is on indef. hold. Can our little town bounce back? That is anybody's guess. Let's just keep it real.
Week
of this total shut down. Our governor is talking June. JUNE. Suck on that lemon (just a southern terminology).
Our movie theatre just announced that its done.... just the beginning I am afraid.

DeleteI'm sad to hear about your library. I know libraries everywhere have been struggling for years, but the ones around here have gotten very creative. They've become pros at basket bashes, book sales, dinners, and more to raise funds. They may have shorter hours than they used to have, but they are open. Well, not at the moment, but you know...

*Out of curiosity I did a search of past epidemics this morning and one article about the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918-19 talked about things being closed and services suspended. I was thinking, oh...we have done this before. But no, we haven't. Everything was closed then because so many people were sick or had died. Estimates in the U.S. were around 675K dead. Funerals were limited to 15 minutes because there were so many...but then they didn't always have enough coffins or people to dig graves. This time around, I feel for all those who can't even have a service to say goodbye to their loved one. Rambling...sorry.

DeleteOh Linda...this makes me so sad about the library, jobs and etc. Breaks my heart. My husband said that things will never be the same just as it hasn't been since 911. The chicks do make me smile today though and I am giving God praise for how He is protecting us. Trying to learn from so much but it's all so fast. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

DeleteYour comment about the library and the endowment was of interest to me. I used to research deeds for a living...awful time...and found a will of a very wealthy woman who left a million dollars to the local high school for a poetry contest to go forward forever. I had never heard of such a contest as an English teacher. Finally discovered that all the proceeds from that woman's will were chewed up by unscrupulous lawyers. I am not a fan of lawyers. How about you? Looks as if you can read the writing on the wall. Might be a good time to make a break for it.

Love the little chicks.I love to hear them peeping. We have them here at our Ace Hardware store also. I saw them again when we went to get some flowers, which were essential for my mental health. Praying for you and your son's job prospects. God may be laying the foundation for your next "move". Just trust Him to lead you. He has a plan and will not forsake you. You will be in our prayers.

DeleteMy daughter works at our local library, and they have been closed for 3 full weeks now. She is hating it so much, as she loves her job. They have already cancelled all summer programming. On the positive side, she decided to do children's storytimes (which she does in her job) via Facebook live. Some of her regular attendees are getting to partake of storytime through virtual means.

ReplyDeleteOur libraries are city funded so they will reopen. So sad when entire towns close down and probably won't recover. I'm trying to remain positive and am just not going to worry about it. We all know why and what "they" are trying to accomplish. Prayers and voting responsibly...

ReplyDeleteWe are reminded that man makes his plans but the Lord knows the outcome. We had two road trips planned and have, thus far, cancelled one of them. Hoping to make the second one, but that remains to be seen.
