Moving along into the Sunday Salon on this last Sunday in July...
Time: 8:30 a.m.
Scene: 72* cloudy and quite humid out (84%).
Drinking: first cup of Breakfast in the Finger Lakes Coffee with Italian Sweet Cream.
What's on Tap for the Day? Nuttin'. I have the day off. After a rather hard day yesterday (loading and unloading 35 packs of water) for 4 hours straight and the other 4 hours moving this or that, I am just worn out. Being the new guy has its disadvantages, especially when the boss man is there. Don't worry about that comment much; I asked him yesterday haven't I earned my stripes yet because it sure seems when he and I are working, I get stuck doing the heavy lifting while the others seemingly don't. He probably thought I had lost my mind. Maybe I did, because it has been quite humid here...miserable as a matter of fact. He mentioned he has been working there for 40 years...come to find out we are the same age and he goes, "Ohhh...I didn't think you were like that old ((grin)) you certainty don't look or act like it."---yeah flattery will get you places, mister. LOL---he thought that was funny and he did let up ((on a note, my husband is flabbergasted I speak to my boss like that, lol---life is short, get over it)).
What's for dinner? I think the hubby is bbqing; ribs and chicken. Yesterday, my employer had catered in Sterns (a local chicken place);
Chicken, potato salad and a cupcake. There was so much other food, I just kept it too those 3 though. Friday it was burrito day. Every single day its something different. They feed us everyday, every.single.day. Usually its the department chefs that my employer employs who makes lunch.
What's on TV? Nothing on Sundays. Well, usually when I get home in the late afternoons on Saturdays its British PBS time:

two rather enjoyable shows.
This coming week: I am working 6 days straight, my turn. We all have to do 6 days once a month. Unfort. with the way things are right now; inflation, gas prices etc. Trucks are not coming in as often or they are late. Yesterday was a prime example-we were finding work to do. No trucks, we were suppose to get two. Nope. Makes for a very odd and hard day, like lifting water. Yuck.
One last thought: Looking forward to...

Our area where we live....I am so looking forward to the change in seasons. The colors should be brilliant this year due to the extreme summer we have had.
Cloudy here and looking iffy for a summer day....still can't beat a day off Linda... enjoy it! :)

DeleteThe show I mentioned today is Kraft Suspense Theater which was on TV in the early 60s. Its free on YouTube. They are one hour shows and they are really good with some big stars in them. You are working so hard. I hope things get easier and I keep praying something good in history turns up for you.

DeleteUg! That is a lot of lifting. Oh well, you got your exercise, right? I'm glad you speak to your boss like that though. Even the best jobs you can get taken advantage of if you don't speak up when necessary!

Delete35 cases of water?! Wow, I complain anytime I have to lift one up and into the cart. Good for you, speaking out to your boss. I wonder if your coworkers weren't going, "Whoa!" That's so neat they provide complimentary lunches every day. I'm so glad you found a workplace that appreciates you!

ReplyDeleteOff subject, I've just read where the Czech Republic has adopted a type of 2nd Amendment to protect gun rights there. Guess they finally learned, ain't nobody gonna help them and they're a gnat's eyelash away from Russia ... that's sad that they're smarter than the Gov.'s of these Blue States here in 'Merica.
It's been staying in the high 80s and raining here. Very nice weather for July. Hope it stays like that.

Note: when you run out of Midsomer Murders, you might like Murdoch Mysteries on the Acorn channel. We are enjoying those since we are caught up with Midsomer and waiting for the next episode to air. We are really hooked on these murder shows! LOL. And we are such quiet, peaceable, conservative people...who'd think we'd enjoy a good murder mystery? LOL. Keeps us out of trouble. We are still having hot steamy weather here, with usual afternoon thunderstorms. Typical summer in Florida. Thankful for no real big storms yet and praying they go another direction. Take care and rest on your days off. Let the guys take good care of you!! You deserve to be treated like a queen!

DeleteI will have to check out Fr. Brown. I do like Midsomer Murders but started watching Murdock again from season 1 and Heart Guy has a new season starting this week so I started it back at season 1 again too. Murdock is silly fun and Heart Guy borders on silly but is entertaining. Enjoy the rest of your day off!! xo

DeleteCatered lunches every day? Where do I sign up? No place around here would put that kind of money into keeping employees happy. Boy, it's gonna be a hot one all week long...take care in the heat on that six day stretch. I don't want to hear you have heat exhaustion or anything!

My boss is a good person, yep...he is and he pays no notice I am the only girl, just saying, LOL. Let's see, there is talk of things shutting down again; the library, the school(s) and museums all are mandating vaccines to work, no thank you. Nope, not doing it. The more they (the gvt.) want to force it, the more I dig my heels in.

Hi Linda, That chicken looked good. Please don't hurt yourself at work. I am glad can talk with your boss. so glad you got out of WM! We have had warm weather which is not unusual for us but we have had more humidity than normal. I am like you, looking forward to fall. Our summer last until the end of October. It is evening and all grands are spending the night and are tucked in. Enjoy your week! :)

Hot here too. We had three days of rain and cool air. But now it is heating up again. My husband gets lunch at his office some days good some stuff he isn't fond of but he is grateful. In his dept. down to the final three, my husband, Ray and Anthony. Wyman went out and got his poke. They shun them by making them wear their masks during their shifts.What blew my mind was backin February 2021. The radio annoucer said "Hank Aaron died at the age of 88 and went on to say he had his poke two weeks before he passed away." I get tired of the blakc issues being shoved at us and of course, Hank Aaron's wife is front and center. I miss my friend Sharon. Last thing she had said to me in our weekly phone conversation before she passed away was, no intelligent or educated black will take their poke. We remember the Tuskegee Incident. Those experiments lasted 40 years, I do not believe we have 40 years left on this earth.
