I am just going to keep it real...well, don't I always? I saw my good friend Pamela had another great thought provoking post...and this
That stopped me cold in my tracks i.e. horrible feelings of failure way deep down. It's been a week now that things have moved so fast in regards to the house hunt of the century. Emails flying back and forth, phone conversations, house hunting from both states etc. The preapproval letter coming in. Then, a lovely phone call from the realtor in Georgia that literally stopped me from that pit in the stomach. She prayed with us. Seriously, how many realtors do you know who would do such a thing? I also want to say, the good Lord puts folks in our lives for a reason.

Then reality hits. Priced out. How's that for a reality check. Like she said, "We will not allow you to buy or move into a broken down house, bad neighborhood etc. there are very strict stipulations that we have and we do not want any member of our armed forces relaxing on standards, you served our country, so let us serve you." Ok then...back to the drawing board. Hey, don't you just love these virtual tours and the internet? Amazing how some folks can put their houses up sale and then you look at neighborhoods and go "Hmm...uh uh, now I know why you are selling."
...we are also finding out not only are we out priced, but we are also out marketed; property being snatched up right away. We had 4 properties snatched up -just like that. SO, back to reality...the VA assigned us two realtors one here and one in Georgia. And to be quite honest, not sure where we are going. Out priced, out marketed and running out of options, so it seems. Oh and folks leaving the great north for the south.

I also prefer to look at a much brighter thought; perhaps the good Lord is stopping us from these properties for a reason and all this is on HIS timing, not ours. As crazy as that may sound, but there is always a reason and at times, we just don't know why. Funny things happening-I have two job interviews this coming week. Out.of.the.blue. Huh? I'm not suppose to be living here, Lord, I am suppose to be in flip flops, not snow boots...my husband, "Funny, Linda, you know that old saying about telling the Lord your plans, right? You wanna make God laugh? Tell Him YOUR plans."
Where I am going with all this? I don't know...but I have a feeling someone somewhere is going through the same thing or nearly the same thing.
P.S. HELLO
You're right! HIS timing and place, not ours. I'm trusting in the LORD too. He will put you and keep you where and when He wants you. *boom* End of statement, right?! *wink* And don't worry about my feelings. I'm having, and had, a blast helping. It's fun to look ... especially when it's someone else's money. *giggle* Too bad y'all have to stay with a VA Loan, though. If you could only do an In House, you could live anywhere. It is what it is.
ReplyDeleteHey, on that subject, makes me wonder how much our humble hovel is worth now ... hmmmmm. *lol*
Still in prayer for y'all. It'll all work out 'cause GOD loves you more than we do. On that we can rely.
Sending Love & Prayers xx
Good luck finding where you are supposed to live!
ReplyDeleteLinda, thank you for the reminder that the Lord does have a plan for us on his time table and not ours. Best wishes to you on your interviews. Happy May!
ReplyDeleteYes, the time to be awake and in tune with God is NOW, even when we're going through things! Love covers a multitude of sins (I used to say that to my kids all the time, once when my oldest was four, she said, "Yes, like a big warm blanket!"), and we're not to grow weary of doing good. Your wonderings about God's plan in the house hunting reminds me of my sister, she gets behind a slow driver, and says, "Maybe this is an angel, sent to save me from an accident..." (or maybe she needs more patience, ha). It doesn't seem like an ideal time for moving, but it can't hurt to try, and God can do amazing things. One of my nephews sold his house a bit ago, and miraculously found another to move into, but he put in like five offers, way over asking price, and settled on something quite expensive that needs some work...it's such a seller's market right now. In any case, TODAY is the day of salvation, if you hear His voice today, do not harden your hearts...when you trust in Him, you will not be disappointed. And, YAY for job interviews!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you are still in Hornel, there must be a reason. God puts us exactly where he needs us. Will pray that the job interviews go well.
ReplyDeleteGod will make something happen, just enjoy the ride. Have a nice weekend.

The "modular homes" are not the old trailers of yesterday. You can have them most everywhere....and are reasonable for starting out. Find a beautiful property you like and one way to get started. That is how many of the Florida communities are built. My three cents!! :)
ReplyDeleteOne thing is sure: God is on the case and He has a plan for you. The times are very strange. Leave it all in His hands.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing lady, that realtor! I've never spent much time up north, but still gotta say, "Only in the South!".
ReplyDeleteWishing y'all great things ... soon! 😁
Trust that God is leading you, Linda. You are so right that He has the plan that will work best. Listen and trust your gut because that is how He communicates. Keep us posted!! xo
ReplyDeleteOH yeah! I've been there and done that...but God always comes through at the perfect moment. The right time. The right place. The right job. He knows what is best for you and He will take care of you AND the details. Sounds like some great people in GA, the realtor who prayed with you and is looking out for your best. That is encouraging. But just let God be in the driver's seat. He's got a plan and you know it is a good plan (Jer. 29:11...you already posted it above) so just take it one step at a time and see how His plan unfolds. In the end, you won't be disappointed that you waited on God. He's got your back! We'll just keep praying. As much as I'd love to have you closer to us, I want you to be happy and where God wants you more.
ReplyDeleteI believe God absolutely has a plan for each and every one of us. The big question is are we going to get out of His way and allow Him to work (and also to do what He tells us) or are we going to try to work it out by our own power? I learned 5 "rules" a while back that I repeat to myself every day and they help me stay on track. 1) God is who He says He is. 2) God can do what He says He can do. 3) I am who God says I am. 4) I can do all things through Christ. 5) God's Word is alive and active in me.
ReplyDeleteIt will happen when and how it is supposed to. Have patience and trust God. In the meantime, have a great weekend! It's a start. lol
Just visiting; I hope you find your house soon but I do agree with you that it will be in God's timing and I'm sure it will be just the right one :) Seems like you have a gem of a realtor. I loved what your husband said about making God laugh :) Years ago when my husband was looking for a new job (we were in Southern California at the time) I told him I didn't care where it would be as long as it wasn't the deep south (humidity) or Montana. We ended up going to Santa Fe, New Mexico which was a disaster, but two years later, we ended up in Billings, Montana and loved it for the 8 years we lived there.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your job interviews!
betty
Linda, isn't it something when we think we have it all figured out?? I will pray for your intentions, my friend. Hugs from chilly PA.
ReplyDeleteMoving is hard but if you lose a house you can be sure it's for a reason. Good luck with the interviews.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness the housing marked it crazy right now! The right house is out there and you will find it! Sounds like you got a couple fantastic realtors, too!
