Mayday Hodgepodge

Joining in on the May Hodgepodge

1. May Day! May Day!...last time you shouted for help? Or maybe just asked?

It's bad y'all...really bad. My brand-new SUV barely 6 months old...Try Monday when an old lady hit me...I called the Sheriffs Office.

2. What's something you may do this month?

My husband has another thing coming...since he has been on a 'man vacation' (they called it that-making us wives very upset)---but I informed him then he can take me to the beach. Let's just say, a little contriteness goes a long way if he so chooses. Just saying

3. 'April showers bring May flowers'...is this true where you live? What's blooming? What's your favorite springtime blossom?

What's blooming? We live in Florida EVERYTHING is blooming.

4. What's something you learned at your mother's knee?

How to cook and bake

5. Share a thought about motherhood.

I/we was/were blessed to have our son for 24 yrs. Life is short, take photos, laugh, cry, have fun...spend the retirement money. JUST SAYING.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

a very longggggggggg time ago in a land very faraway (Alabama)
 grin...Liam was 2 yrs. old.

My first Mother's Day without our son... I have to get away even if it's just for the day. So, that is probably where I will be Saturday or Sunday--I'm not waiting much longer to make that 45 min. drive.

  6. What a cutie pie! I sure hope you get your Mother's Day at the beach. The warmth if the sun and the sounds of the waves will be healing and soothing.

  7. ouch on the SUV!! I love that picture of your son and I definitely think you need to spend the day at the beach! Sun, sand, and waves has the crazy ability to help with all of my emotions.

    1. Thank you, Joyce...he simply fell asleep never woke up/passed away peacefully. The coroner said his heart gave out. He had had open surgery when he was 6 and the dr. then said he prob. could only give us 10 yrs...still it was shocking.

  9. What a precious boy child! Yes, a beach day sounds less like an option and more so, a necessity. While I never experienced the anguish of losing a child, I'm all for forgetting Mother's Day (and Father's Day) altogether. It's a emotionally difficult day for many people I think, for a myriad of reasons.

  10. Mmmm, they took a 'man vacation' hu? NOT a good choice of words. You deserve a wee "CA"!

It took a long time, for the pain of losing our daughter, to ease. Takes time. I used to have to get away, on her Birthday. Gentle hugs...

  12. Dear Linda, I've been praying for you about this upcoming Mother's Day. I know how hard it will be for you, and yes, I think a "beach day" would be good. Be sure you know what you are looking for before you decide to go to Cedar Key. It is a quaint and pretty little town on the Gulf Coast, but I did not find the "beach" part of it to be totally what I was thinking of in a beach when we went there. If you are looking for white sand, surf, etc., better go either further south on the gulf or go to the Atlantic coast. Just saying...I don't want you to be disappointed about the "beach" part of the trip. But if you just want a lovely day near the water as a distraction, there is that there. I know the day will be difficult enough for you as it is, and I would hate for you to be disappointed in the "beach' too. Just looking out for my friend...maybe you'll love it. Our kids B&R went there on their honeymoon, and they enjoyed it...but then again, it was their honeymoon. They would have enjoyed the MOON. LOL. I hope whatever you do it will be a day of peace and restoration for you and Dave both. You've had a rough week...and well, much longer than that I know. Lifting you both up in my thoughts and prayers. Still hoping we can get together soon since you haven't started work yet...let me know...weekdays are fine for us too if you and D. want to meet 1/2 way or something. We'll talk soon. Love you and praying for you.

  14. I love your thoughts in the end of your post about motherhood Linda. YES girl....we surely need to soak in our time with loved ones. So sorry about your sweet ride but grateful you are okay. GO TO THE BEACH! I am biting at the bits to get to the beach but there has been no time! I know, that's crazy, I am retired! But it's just not happened yet. However, I see it coming soon. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  15. A very tough "first" coming up, Linda. My heart is with you. Get that trip to the beach, for sure, and Liam will be smiling at you from Heaven. Hugs!

  16. I will totally keep you in my prayers on Mothers Day. Michael died the Thursday before Mothers Day 19 years ago. It doesn't seem possible that it has been that long. Ugh, I never look forward to Mothers Day or Michaels heaven date. Good for him but crummy for me. Take Care and God Bless you. The first year is very hard.

  17. Bummer about your car! I always say whoa be to the person who hits my car within the first year I own it! LOL!

  18. I am sorry about your car getting hit. I sure hope you can get the ocean this weekend. That is such a cute picture of your beloved Liam! Did he love the beach like you? Praying as you approach this weekend, Linda. I am sure it will be hard.♥

  20. First, the very same thing happened to my brand new Malibu. It stressed me out so bad I could barely drive it. I sold it to get rid of that stress and I drive an old 2005 Ford F150 now. I don't worry about anything where that thing is concerned..
Second, YES, you should get to the beach and relax for the weekend! You deserve it. There is nothing like being revived by viewing God's wonderful artwork that He did just for us.
What a precious little boy! {{HUGS}} to you my friend! Maybe someday I will get to Florida and we can meet up! :) Have a blessed day!
