Day 18 finds us 1 week from the death of our son. 1 week...just seems so surreal. Day 18 finds us also answering silly Saturday questions.
Saturday 9: Please Come Home for Christmas (1992)
1) In this video, Jon Bon Jovi recalls decorating the tree with Cindy Crawford. They took turns wearing a Santa hat. Will anyone in your household be donning a Santa hat this season?
No, don't think so.
2) He sings of the salutations he's received from friends and relatives. Have you received many holiday cards this year?
Yes and sympathy cards...I have no idea how in the world I am going to answer them all. We are touched beyond belief. Thank you.
3) Will you wrap many presents? Or do you prefer to use gift bags?
Presents are already wrapped. I didn't buy gift bags, but I did buy fancy boxes.
4) Jon Bon Jovi says he and Frank Sinatra are distant relatives. Do you believe that musicality is a genetic gift, or that it can be taught?
Most def. a gift. I have no musical gifts.
5) Jon is such a big Star Wars fan that he wrote a carol called "R2-D2: We Wish You a Merry Christmas." There a dozen Star Wars movies. How many have you seen?
Prob. the majority of them.
6) Jon once guest-starred as Carrie's love interest in an episode of Sex and the City, the popular HBO sitcom set in New York. The new reboot, And Just Like That, also centers around NYC life. Where does your favorite TV show take place?
HGTV House Hunters, Beach Hunters and Maine Cabin Masters. That dream of living in Maine has long sailed. We will be and looking forward to moving back to the warm, sunny climate of Central/Eastern Florida. I am actually looking forward to wearing flip flops and shorts and gladly will give up the winter gear. I am beyond ready to do so.
7) Jon met his wife, Dorothea, when they were still in high school. Do you remember who you wanted to marry when you were in high school?
I married my husband
8) At Christmastime 1992, when this song was released, toys that tied into Disney's Little Mermaid were very popular. Have you purchased toys for anyone on your gift list this year?
No. Gift cards.
9) Jon recorded "Please Come Home for Christmas" to benefit The Special Olympics. Here's your chance to plug a cause or organization that's near and dear to you.
Toys for Tots is our go too. We actually have a huge donation to make...been cleaning out our sons room/closet and I think some little boy or girl will enjoy the toys (no matter how old the toys are) and some will go to my brothers kids like the thousands and thousands of Legos.
I broke down and gave to the Salvation Army... They did so much for our local community when growing up... Something to be said for forgiveness. This was my stretch.
ReplyDeleteAnd there is nothing wrong with that...smiles
DeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteWe do shoe boxes for kids in third world countries through Samaritan's Purse. We found out yesterday that ours had been shipped to the Philippines. Filling the shoes boxes with toys and other necessities is fun for us all. I also bought and donated some toys to a children's charity when I was in Colorado visiting my birth mother and sister. We donated to Toys for Tots, or some like Charity, for many years - letting each of our kids pick out a toy to donate. I think that helping others is so important, so I am glad this is your "go-to" charity. Glad you are moving ahead with your plans to move to Florida. See you again soon.
I am glad you will be getting a change of view. My heart just hurts so much for you. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

I have been praying for you. My daughter said they only took mask down for pictures. Luckily the weather was mild enough to eat outside. They even got to see Phantom on Broadway. We tried to get to NY in 2019 and were waiting for reservations to come up but then things shut down. We haven't even gone back to Disneyland. Nice that you can give your son's toys to others to enjoy. I kept my dad's robe and some sock to wear in the winter. I got his computer briefcase that I use. A few other things. Hugs to you Linda ♥
ReplyDeleteThere is no need to reply to all the sympathy cards, etc. No one expects that...we know what you are going through, and besides you do respond here and we all know how much you appreciate the love. We love YOU and want you to just do the best you can during this time, and allow yourself space to grieve in the way that seems best to you. Don't give away everything of Liam's...save some special mementos that have special meaning to you. Take your time and treasure the memories. God bless you my friend. You are loved.
ReplyDeleteHey, no need to send a thank you for our gifts, 'k? Your friendship, and especially the move back to America (wink) where y'all can live free, is enough Thank You for me!!
ReplyDeleteThere was no one I wanted to marry in High School. I kinda got talked into it by my First and deeply regretted it almost immediately. Not that I'm some tower of wisdom now, but I was so dumb at 18. Truly. I didn't want to follow Jesus more closely until I was nearly 30.
We have a local Sycamore House that gives to children and adults alike. I prefer them. Oh, and also the Shoeboxes for children overseas. They also include the Gospel, that's the greatest gift of all.
Can't WAIT for y'all to be heading South!
Love & Prayers xx
Even tho' everything's not what it seems, House Hunters is still one of my favorite shows. I can't wait 'til you're all settled in sunny Florida and I can finally hug your neck!
ReplyDeleteThe cleaning out and donating part was so hard for me but I needed to get it done. The boys helped while they were here and got what they wanted so the rest went to charity. It's a hard journey but our faith helps immensely! Toys For Tots is a great place to donate! Looking forward to meeting you in person one day soon!! xo
ReplyDeleteYou are so generous with Liam;s things. WHat a joy for someoen to enjoy it all. I Know many people who have taken clothing of a loved one and turn it into a quilt. I have many pairs of pjs that belonged to my sweet mom. I am thiking of doing that and making one for NIck of all his running shirts from his college days. I have so much of my own clothing I need to sell, donate or giveaway. I know someone could benefit from them, they are nice things. My husband has his grand fathers mustache cup . He has his maternal grandfathers stir up as he was a farmer and loved horses. He has his dad's brass check from the CF&I Steel Corp. where he worked as a guard. I qould to have had my dad's brass check. He worked there 47 years. i am sorry to go down memory lane. Just so many people hurt by the loss of a loved one. My sweet friend Ashlee married her husband on her dad's birthday. Her daddy was a good friend of mine and a railroad engineer. She said she wanted to honor her dad when she married as he could not be there with her.
ReplyDeleteIt is late and I had better get some rest. Sweet dreams to you. HUGS and PRAYERS
