June 1 Chat...

 

I simply can't believe it's June. How about a recap of the last 2 days? We headed to Interlachen Thursday morning to pick up a table my husband had refurbish ed; fellow blogger Pamela's son has his own woodshop etc... Sorry, I don't have photos, I know there are some somewhere -I know Pamela' son took a couple. Sadly, we did not get to meet up with Pamela and John, they had a prior engagement. Then we headed back home and stopped in Micanopy.

A sleepy little town just outside Gainesville that its history can be recorded all the way back to 1539 and in 1821 Spain ceded its Florida provinces making Micanopy the first town in the Florida Territory. Interesting fact, there is no sewage system. Micanopy is literally a place where time has stood still. Yes, they have internet, just no sewage system. Oh, to back in time...but one thing I simply cannot live without would be air conditioning, I simply don't know how folks did it back then.

Yesterday we headed to Daytona- a near hour drive. I prefer Flagler, but Daytona has the public parking parks with restrooms and showers, etc. Such as above, Sun Splash. It's free to park and they have all the amenities, plus its right next door / adjoining to the Volusia County Lifeguard building. 

Unfort. the last hurricane we had, the seawall was lost and some of the picnic areas were lost as well, they are in reconstruction right now. The splash pad and the ramp to the beach were open. It was nice to just walk back up, use the restrooms, and walk thru the splash pad. Plenty of kids who were running thru it etc. 

We got there early and pretty much had the area to ourselves. Speaking of lifeguards. We sat directly behind them. It was orange flag day, meaning there was an undercurrent and 2 times the lifeguards had to go out and rescue folks. Their whistles and red flags were flying all day to warn folks not to get too far out.

The water/ocean was pretty choppy and the trade winds high...it was really a perfect day. Although the temps were holding steady at near 90, the wind really was refreshing. The water was warm, the sun was warm, and it was just refreshing. We could see the pier/boardwalk from where we were sitting, and by mid-to late morning, we took a walk to it. By 2 pm the beach area was pretty full and high tide was coming in, so we packed up and headed home. Those are only the photos I took. 

Goodbye beach until August...God willing hurricane season will be light; something tells me it won't be. We were discussing this yesterday while sitting there enjoying the sun and surf. My husband remarked how choppy the water was and was there a storm out in the Atlantic. I believe there is something off Cape Verde. We shall continue to pray about the hurricane season. Today officially starts the season and I have to say Florida is ripe for the season; it's extremely humid already and has been since April. Which is odd...but alias, our home insurance is paid up, etc. We live dab smack in central Florida, the Gulf is to the West and the Atlantic is the East. There is practically nowhere to run to, LOL. I laugh, because I never in a million years believed we would be back here. But, as we all know, a tragic event (our sons passing) on 12/11/21 brought us back. And we are good...it took us a while to become "good" of sound mind. We have our moments when it's not, but all in all, God's grace has put in a place to where we are; spiritually, emotionally and last physically (well...mostly on that last one).

I simply cannot believe its June...where has the time gone?  Well, folks I have to run to the store, back to reality. sigh. Have a beautiful day all.
