Time: 7:54 am
Scene: 77* partly cloudy, humidity 93%, dewpoint 75*. Yes, it's already hotter than hades. Actually, it never cooled down last night and no rain.
Thinking:
--Yes, Pamela, we can hear the rest stop/area going up. We had wondered what was going on and hubby took a stroll down the street/road the other day.
--On that thought, I can remember way back when Disney wasn't 'woke', when it was affordable etc. And Florida residents got deep discounts...nope, now our souls are forever sold to the devil, as my husband puts it. Wish Florida would go back to the old ways...and quit catering to the tourists. Back when country roads ruled the day, mom and pop stores were king etc.
--Ageism. Ever thought about it? Did I ever wish ill upon people when I was young? Did I ever mistreat folks? No, I don't think so. I deal with this subject at work every single day. Society itself is just way out of whack.
--Affordability...I can remember when houses/homes were less than $100,000. Not now, our godson just bought a 4 bdrm 2 bath 1500 sq foot house for $300,00. We couldn't afford that, hence why we live in a mobile home, which news one are going for over $200,000. Where has affordability gone too?
Making me laugh...
I'm not complaining...truly I'm not. Apologies for not visiting the blogs yesterday, but I decided to just take it easy yesterday afternoon/evening. This heat and humidity just wipe a person out. I actually have to go back out today and get gas in my car and drop off the Father's Day card. My folks have been in St. Peterburg.
Yes, things are out of whack! Costs of everything has gone up, and I feel for young couples trying to buy their first home. Home prices seem to be crazy all over.
ReplyDeleteHave a good day and stay cool as you can!
Loved the graphic of the melted ice cream truck! Stay cool and keep hydrated, Linda. Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteAgree to everything you’ve posted, except I’m in NYC, on day 2 of a heatwave.
ReplyDeleteApplauding from stage left! I've no intentions of ever visiting a Disney park again -- nor applying for a mortgage, but feel for those young families standing outside the (hypothetical) fence looking in. Sad to say, I see Ageism being alive and well in today's society. Most young adults don't seem to have a clue what customer service is all about. Short of wearing a sandwich board, I'm resigned to resting on my (past) laurels and dealing with the new normal.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is hot. Good golly! That's an understatement! I remember when we got Disney tickets for $25.00 and I agree with you about Orlando before Disney took it over. And I miss Cypress Gardens and Silver Springs the way they used to be. Sigh. Have a good week, Linda!! xo
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. Florida is cheap compared to Utah but housing is WAY TOO expensive everywhere. Yes, ageism is a thing. I hope that you have a good week. Stay strong, my friend.
ReplyDeleteMost of those questions are on my mind just about every day. It's nuts!
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Pam
Retirement is the antidote to those Monday blues. Have a great week, Linda!
ReplyDeleteIt's getting hotter here in central Texas, as well...and yes! The country needs balancing out!

Yesterday, well for two days, I've been taking it easy too. Needed it. I may not post today or even this week. Not sure yet. I've been feeling battle worn. Love. 💙
ReplyDeleteDisney went down after Walt passed away. I will have nothing to do with them after they fired American workers and made them train their foreign replacements. Boo.. no disney for me in any form. Never been to the parks but, no loss.
ReplyDeleteI liked your quip about rain showers here are like pouring water on stones in a sauna. Well-phrased. Came home earlier this morning just dripping with perspiration. But the humidity does moisturize our skin and make us look younger!!
